  1. Rack or Rotary? I have a 13' teleflex dual rack, and several rotary cables that I'd have to check lengths on. The make and style of your helm is going to determine what will work. It will most likely be Teleflex, Morse, or Detmar..... and most likely is rack & pinion. But you need to check and specify.
  2. Just above 1000 in the water, or on muffs?
  3. "New" as in NEW, or new as in "reman"? What is your idle speed RPM in neutral? A 1993 200 might be equipped with a shift-assist switch, if so it needs to be tested. Why the complete new lower vs. A fresh gearset in the original gearcase? The mechanical (within the gearcase) causes for a hard shift are; improper shimming/backlash, bent or twisted shift rod, damaged shift cam, bearing carrier not fully seated, water in the gearcase.
  4. Ok... I have a 90 3 cyl. Yammie gearcase off now and I see what you've got going on. Gimme a buzz and I'll talk you through it. 573-569-5406
  5. I can honestly say that I've never even tried to "nymph" 10 1/2 fow, but if I was to attempt it I'd be more likely to use the old Joe Humphrey mono-line method. If you have a bobber on the surface and a fly at 9-10 feet below.....how many opposing current lines do you think you're leader is passing through? Those surface seams that you see don't go all the way to the bottom if it's 8-12 feet deep there. The deep nymph/heavy weight/bobber rig obviously works though, and works well....or else we wouldn't even know WTH Brian Wise is
  6. Just the standard law of physics that it's easier to pull an 18 ft. chain than it is to push one.
  7. Once you figure out the angle that you leader needs to be at, and learn how to cast/mend in order to "set up the drift"..... you are basically drifting a FISH TRAP. No problem detecting takes even for a blind man. Bobbers make setting the trap impossible. The only time I use one is if I want to suspend a midge in eddys or really slow water.
  8. Enforcing the laws and rules of the land has become a very lucrative business, hasn't it? They'll greed themselves out of business before long. Freakin' Terrorists.
  9. There's several patterns working WELL right now, just pick one that suits the area and conditions best..... Frogs and spooks around flooded grass. Carolina rigging points and creek channel Worming brushpiles. Flipping shallow docks and wood. Worming the condo lights at night. (Big worm/light weight ....bites on the fall). Massive shad hatch going on, kentucky's gorging on schools of tiny dime size shad every evening.....they'd prolly bite rattle traps or small swimbaits. Just get out there and you'll figure something out that'll work for ya.
  10. Fuel and water pressure "Gauges", and a Speedo. And a tach..... as in tachometer, just so ya know. Did the boat have the chrome riveted on "Champion" trim decals....or are they sticker decals ?
  11. I'm afraid this is one of those things that I'd have to see in person..... cuz several things don't look right.
  12. You've lost me. I'm afraid that we are discussing separate issues and I don't wanna lead you into doing something improperly. Did you add pics to your original post or did I not wait for them to fully load on my end, the first time ?
  13. LMAO Boy oh boy, you have truly mellowed with age ! If I had more time I'd hunt down one of those classic archived ATL rants just for a "then and now" comparison. LOL
  14. The hard plastic tube is a guide that coaxes the water tube into the grommet during insallation. Are all the bits and pieces of the impeller accounted for? You don't want any chunks floating around in the cooling passeges of the powerhead, or plugging up the water tube.
  15. Mercs are metric (since they have been farmed from Yamaha and Tohatsu for quite a few years now) but it's possible that whoever rigged your boat used 1/4x20 (sae 7/16) to mount the control box.
  16. Shove a big flat screwdriver under the impeller and while prying upwards tap on the top of the driveshaft with a hammer. It'll pop loose.
  17. Even if he had chosen, and could have afforded to take it to trial, his fate would have been decided by 12 people who aren't even smart enough to figure out how to get out of jury duty.
  18. Weren't his lawyers also quoted as saying "they were satisfied with the outcome" ? The lawyers were satisfied.....ain't that a b!tc#.
  19. Are you interested in short warts too? I have a few of those I'd trade for a (non-clear bill) red or brown craw standard WW
  20. Easier than the old Merc. No fighting water tubes or shift linkage, it all lines up real friendly like. A little heavier is all
  21. Gar live a long time and have the slimmest chance of anything else in the river of being foraged upon. The way I see it, it's a wonder that they haven't completely taken over every body of freshwater in the world. What is keeping them from it?
  22. Go with your gut. But don't use'em for bait, you could bleed to death.
  23. I'll tell ya something that hit a nerve with me the other day..... We have boating accidents on a daily basis here at LO, you hear about it on the local news (paper, radio, scanner) every day. The part that gets to me is that the type of boat involved in any of these accidents is never disclosed unless it is a "bassboat". When it involves a cruiser, or a scarab, or a runabout, pontoon, deckboat, or any other type of boat they just say " the watercraft, or the vessel", but when a bassboat is involved they make darn sure that everyone knows that it was a BASS BOAT. It always sounds like this: "A BASS BOAT operated by So & So had to be removed from a dock at the something something mile marker when the operator, Mr So & So failed to negotiate a turn. The BASS BOAT, a 2007 dual console pink and green Nitro with 200 Mercury optimax, motorguide trolling motor and Hummingbird electronics SLAMMED into the dock, doing considerable damage to the dock and the two moored boats on it. The operator mr So & So and another occupant, Mr. Hoodehoo were thrown from the BASS BOAT suffering considerable injury. Both occupants of the BASS BOAT are reported in stable condition at this time and Missouri state Water Patrol has indicated that alcohol was involved in this BASS BOAT accident". (One of them probably had a budwieser T-shirt on...so "alcohol was involved") Seriously? You never hear all those details about all the other "vessels".... why do they feel the need to hammer that BASS BOAT detail into everyones brain? It's so obviously deliberate that it annoys me.
  24. Is that a 1978 Champion? If the transom is that rotten then the floor and stringers can't be much better. Putting 1000.00 into the transom is out of the question ( IMO). That boat must have been stored with water in the bilge at one time, cuz those old Champs are notoriously good boats. I believe they were only rated for 90hp though. That old "tower of power inline 6" was hell on transoms from the beginning. Narrow mounting bracket surface area and a ton of weight torque. Scrap her out and start shopping for a whole new rig. How much for the trailer?
  25. Haa! Yeah right. It'll be interesting to see of what use that property becomes in a few years. Not !
