  1. i was fishing Spfd Lake this past monday (it was close) and i had a 12" crappie inhale my 3/8 oz mouse colored war eagle, 1st time for me too! And I tore it up on spooks.
  2. Anyone do any fishing in this area recently? I hae a jon boat and wouldn't mind getting out on this lake since it is smaller and less trafficy. Not sure how the fishing is though and what would bite?
  3. im hesitant to go back and fish for them as they are so unpredictable this year, and everyone around me is KILLING the crappie. . .I usually fish for crappie in May, not march/april...
  4. i killed it on a zarra spook yesterday, was cracking me up...
  5. Where did all the whites go? I fished for 4 hours today and left with 1 dink...(i put him back ofc) No one I talked to was catching anything? They done? Did they even run? they just napping today...what the heck?
  6. i went fishing for whites today on sac river, nothing...went to CC just to see what was going on around 2pm, everyone claimed that NOTHING was being caught except crappie. I thought for fun I would toss a spook...the LMBass were nailing it, 4 casts in a row at 1 point. All short, but fun for sure!
  7. You caught them all...sheesh, thanks a lot!
  8. great advice and tips guys, thanks a lot! Rod to men are like shoes to women I think. 1 isn't enough, and you need 1 for every occassion. I do like the ugly sticks, but they are heavy. I haven't tried the "lite" ones though, may be interested in that.
  9. LOL...okay, rephrase: Any steady action in beaver creek off slough hollow road?
  10. In years past I have limited my fishing to white bass, crappie, and perch; using mostly 6lb test and 1/8 oz lures. I have used a light rod 5'6" - 6', but ensuring that it is stiff enough for that 15-16" white, and sensative enough for the 10" crappie and making sure I don't rip his face off while setting hook. 2pc rods frustrate me after 1 fishing season as they seem to lose their tackiness at the join and twist or seperate after a dozen casts. This year I find myself fishing for walley and SM/LM bass more. Realizing that the fish can be bigger, Im looking to get a 1pc rod that is appropriate for the fishing. I have heard everything from light to heavy, and understand that I may use something different for a wiggle wart that I would use for a pig'n'jig. I wanted your feedback on what you use for what?
  11. the boat traffic wasn't rediculous, but more more than I am used to seeing nithat area. I really think that the Sows are still moving in and all the males are up in the river "making it cozy". So, point being, I don't think we have missed a big run of whites or anything, I am going back out this saturday and giong to fish the same pattern, hope to see bigger fish as I move down the river. we fished one spot for several hours last saturday, caught 5 fish between the two of us in about 3 hours, ALL BIG! Moved about 1 mile down the river, caught 5 fish each an hour (4 out of 5 being small males, the 5th being a big"ish"male). So I feel it is safe to say that the sows are still coming in. Tight lines!
  12. bump...seeing any action around Slough Hollow?
  13. Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated!!!
  14. i found myself this year aquiring more than I care to tote around. I bank fish 99% of the time, and sometimes I find myself walking ALOT to get away from easy to fish bank spots. a 15#-20# tackle box isn't something I like to carry. I alos like to river fish more than lake fish, so that may impact what I carry. I do keep in my car 2 tackle bags with all I could possible need, but it always boils down to the few listed below: 1. 1/8oz roster tails (white, Chart, and variances of each) approximately 10 on me all times 2. 2 crank baitxs (Sexy shad, wigglewart) 3. 3/8oz War Eagle (white/blu/chart , and white) 4. couple skirted jigs with trailers 5. 2-4 tube baits I find more than that and I am switchout out lures more than I am fishing just because I like trying to see what is giong to work best. I found that if I caught a fish on something, I would switch just to see what else is working...sounds dumb, I know. Because of this though, I found that my GO TO LURE is a white roostertail. I have caught EVERY species on it (even catfish, even though I think it was by accident, lol)
  15. Ask 5 fishermen, you will get 5 answers to this. However, I think it would be tough to argue anything White. White Slider, White grubs, White roostertails, white swimming minnows, white (sexyshad) crankbait...anything 1/8-1/4 oz in size. I have caught a stringer of whites, many walley, and a LOT of black/SM bass on these lures.
  16. Went fishing between taylors bridge and steel bridge, me and a buddy caught out limit each of white bass. They are in there. We were throwing 1/8-1/ oz white rooster tails all day. I did loose a roster tail and thought I would try and chartruese, only caught 1 in an hour. grubs were not producing for me either. Out of 30 fish all in all, we caught 40 to keep the 30. only about 4-5 BIG sows, rest were males.
  17. i haven't been since last week, but may go up tomorrow. Hope this rain didn't ruin any fishing potential for the weekend...supposed to be nice out.
  18. he did say on a wiggle wart...screw a-rigs imo.
  19. I caught about 7 lastnight at darn, watter was running alittle. All on 1/8oz rooster tail, white. 2 big males (12"+) and rest medium males, no sows for me. I did however catch a 16" white bass, male. and a 17.5" Smallmouth today, right below darn, on a white/gray/blue/yellow war eagle (1/2oz).
  20. Wife and kids are wanting to do an overnight camping trip this week, was hoping to get some fishing tips for this area. I don't fly fish and noticed a lot of people do in that area. We are stayijng at the Red Beard Ranch, north of Lebnon. Any advise would be welcomed.
  21. thanks for update, been wondering if they were there yet
  22. went to steel bridge thursday...25 fish all in all. 7 worth keeping, only 3 worth writing home about. my buddy caught about the same, except he caught 3 crappie. 1 over 13"!! I was kinda shocked about that. White or Chartruese rooster tail all day long.
  23. Thanks for the update! Glad to hear someone finally catching some quantity!
  24. going to steel bridge on Thursday, hopefully warm weather will have moved the Whites down by then. I got ants in my pants ready to catch em! Thanks for the report, Boatman!
  25. I really like white on white rooster tail, 1/8 oz, about the last hour of the day. Sun goes down and silver blade isn't as effective imo. I have better luck with the white on white or Chart/Chart. I catch walley, smallies, whites, and trout.
