  1. I like a feathered hook on a bronze back rebel floater for smallmouth. I use two hackle tips and some crystal flash to make a tail on them.
  2. I don't see anything saying you can't.
  3. I fish that section out of a canoe every spring pretty regular for white bass and sometimes bring my snagging rod but when I was 14 I caught a 46Lb spoonbill on a 6wt flyrod and it took close to an hr to tire it out chasing it up and down the river in my canoe so as long as your line is strong enough to drag your yak around a bit it is doable. I never had any big problems on that foat just the occasional bass boat trying to swamp me and other boat traffic.
  4. Yep, the road is a little steep but I drive down in there and park when the river is low enough and I have parked in the driveway across the road with no issues that house has been abandoned for years.
  5. I've been ran out of marble grounds a few times in the past but I think the owner either moved off or just gave up I don't know of anyone having any problems in the past couple years. There is also wheeler branch a few miles above kerr it's just off of Missouri AA it is pretty easy to find on Google maps but it's a better float to galena then kerr.
  6. In April last year they were quite a ways up the james they made an early run we were catching them above Walnut Springs the first week of March. If the water temp in the river is 60-65° you'll need to run on up till you find all the combat fishermen.
  7. Air boats didn't bother me at all they are loud outside but not to bad in the house as long as the windows are closed. I would probly stay at Aunts creek if the bass fishing gets slow you could run up the river and get on the whites.
  8. Glad things are looking up for ya. Hope whoever pilfered your tackle gets a hook or two stuck in their butt.
  9. Welcome, I do love me some crawfish we always used bacon wired to the bottom of the trap.
  10. Welcome aboard
  11. Hello

  13. Thats why the James River guides did so well, They had the railroad to get people from all over the place.
  14. Gary the owner of James River Outfitters probly has some old maps his grandfather was the owner of James river boat co.
  15. Usually 7 days the cotter trip may have been a little more here's one of the old maps of the floats and camp sites
  16. Idk if you have watched it yet but last year i posted an old Jim Owen guide vid in the favorite videos section My great grandfather and my grandfather both guided out of the limberlost clubhouse on the james they usually took out in branson with some trips taking out in Cotter Arkansas I guided the james some in highschool and really wish i could have seen it back then. I will try to post some pics soon.
  17. I made the switch this spring and started off using straight braid and it didn't seem to bother the whites but when i started fishing for smallmouth they did not like it i had them charge in really aggressive and turn away when they got up close now i use a 6 foot or so mono or floro leader you also get better action out of top water with a stiff leader.
  18. What sucktit LEO would even enforce that piece of trash.. How ridiculous can these idiots get ? Are they gonna close the entire gulf next?
  19. There is really no walleye in the james aside from the odd one every now and then. In 16 years fishing the james very often i have only picked up 5 or so.
  20. Walleye are few and far in the james, I usually catch one or two a year around the white bass run.
  21. They can keep that hat.
  22. There are a lot of things working against quail other then hunting pressure fox, coon, coyote, hawks, snakes, habitat destruction, just about anything that eats meat in this state will chow down on a quail.
  23. Yup he broke some poor guys arm.
