  1. um unless i read the post wrong the 24th is a saturday that would mean "meet the pros" is on the 23rd on that friday correct?
  2. absolutley not! there is a good bottom bite coming on in 15 to 20 ft of water on the gravel points. throwing a grub and a tube bait not to mention by the end of the month theirs gonna be beds all over the place if this weather holds up. mike what people are doing with this a-rig is not new people have been catching these suspended fish for years on a multitude of baits (swimjig, stickbait)to name a couple and many others but with the presentation of five baits with three of them having hooks its just a different look and of course your catch rate is going to double or even triple. i have fished this rig with success but i am yet to go out with nothing but a rig on the deck of my boat. i would say you would not be wasting your time if you didnt throw the rig the water is warming every day and by the end of the month you should be able to catch fish on just about anything in your box so come on down and enjoy the fishing on the rock
  3. the squarebill crankbait is a very underated bait on this lake by alot of people in the springtime i personally like the 2 to 4 ft running h2o express the knock off of the lucky craft from academy i dont care what anybody says theyre the same thing in the summer/fall i like the bandit and the balsa bee h2o express my favorite color is the diamond dust (american shad) and in the balsa bee/bandit i like the chartreuse shad and the tennesee shad in the summer and fall i like the little wider wobble i get out ob the balsa bee and the bandit in the springtime i like the tighter wobble
  4. launched out of viola today started about 8:30 am fished til 2:30 pm caught alot of fish today i mean alot the consistency of size was either short or 3lb all of the fish i caught today were either right on the points or on the transition from 45chunck rock to gravel type banks alot of fun today caught every fish except for three on a jig, one on the rig two on wart only one keeper on the wart they seemed to really want the slower presentation all the biting fish for me were really pretty shallow temp this morning was around 47 this afternoon it got as high as 49.7 bite really seemed to shut off about one or one thirty water clarity is still very stained managed to catch one female that would go five lb and she was very shallow maybe two feet deep but other than that it was alot of threes a pretty good day on the water
  5. well now that day one of the bassmaster classic is over has anyone got a favorite to win i know two of the guys ive picked are in the top ten
  6. pour dennis, sound like your doing everything correctly to me as far as what your fishing fish seem to really be using their "highways" its probably just a timing thing i read the reports that say the bite is at first light the way i understand it by 11 its all over but it seems to be the opposite for me seems like things dont really get on till about one two oclock or so friend of mine said that he been fishing every day and the better fish arent even biting until 230 to four in the afternoon like balsabee said maybe just need more seat time after all confidence is the best lure in your arsenal. the fish are doing alot of moving aroung right now but it seems for me that if i can catch a fish on a bluff end or an inside point i can duplicate that and continue to catch them which was the case for me this past sunday nothing to really shout about but i ended up with a solid limit but that because i had one good kicker go about six lb just keep chucking and winding you'll find them
  7. alot could change in three weeks especially if this weather trend was to keep up may not even need them warts
  8. which end of the lake? would help us let you know what we on the forum have been dong depths, bank terrains and so forth
  9. has anybody been throwing the hula grub yet? their should be a pretty good bite comin on soon
  10. you should be able to get that wire at your local auto parts store. is that the smallest possible diameter to use? would like to have it a little thinner and lighter for fishing the flats and shallow pea gravel pre spawn without running right on the bottom i know i can somewhat control the weight with the baits i put on it but the rig itself has to weigh at least half an ounce maybe more it looks like
  11. i been using the power pro super 8 slick it has a real smooth castability and doesnt burry up inside itself on the spool backlash backlash is minimal it also seems to be very round and smooth compared too the regular power pro it is a little bit pricy i think i gave 28 dollars for 150 yards at the hook but it has worked very well i also went out and bought a cheap 60 dollar abu garcia black max reel seems to work real good i like them because the gears are all metal no plastic like a lot of the others and if it wears out fast its not that expensive to replace their a 6 4 1 ratio reel for better control i fished it sunday and yes their was some ice build up but i was also throwing a stickbait on 8lb mono still had ice so when its that cold its just part of the game
  12. bobby lane is an elite pro fisherman that makes makes the cut something like 70 to 75 percent of the time and he got in through the federation based solely on his performance and results since then he has qualified for the classic in every year of his career and done well, thats why these guys are called "the elites" you can also go on you tube and see footage of guys like kvd, and many others when they were just average guys like the rest of FISHING to get to where they are today just type in bassmasters
  13. i think this is an issue that could be argued about till the end of time the thing is that if the "elites" banned it there is probably a good reason for it. i mean the board was made up of some of the best bass fisherman in the world. i think im gonna start a new topic asking which came first the chicken or the egg
  14. i been reading this and i figured i would throw my two cents im not necessarily against the rig for fun fishing its actually a great way to get young people interested in our sport simply because its so easy to catch fish on it and lots of them but i have thrown this rig quite a bit and im already tired of throwing simply because i do not feel myself growing and getting better as a fisherman and i think thats why the elites banned the rig from their tourney because their is almost no thought ,insticts, or growth involved in this bait (for me) you just cast it out and reel it in. i just think that i would lose interest in 'the best fisherman in the world' if all they did was throw this rig all over the country and blow out weights where 125 anglers had 20 plus pounds a day and the back of the pack was only 2 lb behind first place where would the excitment be. for me thier just wouldnt be any. for me i actually like to think that some days i am smarter than a fish and when im catching them on this rig i just dont feel that way
  15. not sure about them moving up, may have just been right place right time kinda day there was some baitfish up there though thats what got em
  16. im new here on the forum but have visited quite often to see what the fish are doing I was up the white sunday and found all my fish in less than ten ft of water on jigs and warts
