  1. 66 in Arcadia Valley at 6 am, at 0830 it is 91 already. The arch photo is great Dennis!
  2. fishbait, I use to try to organize stuff like this back in the day. It never works out. Chalk it up as a lessoned learned. Just go fishing.
  3. wow, it is cooling off. 107 now in Arcadia Valley
  4. the Rapp family weather station is saying 108 in Arcadia Valley right now.
  5. hey id10t. You got the same name as that error I get on my computer all the time.
  6. the record high for st. louis for June 28th is 104 degrees set in 1952.
  7. what happened to attic fans?
  8. white shingles makes sense in summer, but in my all electric house the heating bills are much higher than the a/c bills, so I will stick with good old dark colors for the winter benefits. The water heater idea makes some sense also, would like to hear more opinions on this. Using the cave idea is sort of like the old heat pump idea??? How deep of a hole would you have to make to get the cool air year round. Could you dig out a hole the size of a normal swimming pool, put in some kind of vault, and cover it up, and then pump that air into your house all year long would it be beneficial? Or would it have to be deeper than 10 feet? And by the way, as for as the solar thing, when I was a sophomore at college in 1976, in our modern physics class we designed a solar system for the college because of the ongoing energy crisis. Guess what, it was never implemented.
  9. the stage at K Bridge today is 2.84 Below is how it stacks up with historical lows Low Water Records for Black River near Annapolis (1) 3.20 ft on 10/10/2002 (2) 3.11 ft on 08/27/2003 (3) 2.91 ft on 09/30/2004 (4) 2.70 ft on 09/14/2005 (5) 2.63 ft on 09/30/2001 (6) 2.63 ft on 08/30/2001 (7) 2.63 ft on 10/07/2000 (8) 2.50 ft on 09/06/2000 (9) 0.80 ft on 09/17/1979 (10) 0.80 ft on 09/27/1978 (11) 0.66 ft on 07/26/1980 (12) 0.64 ft on 08/22/1983 (13) 0.60 ft on 08/05/1982 (14) 0.00 ft on 08/16/1965
  10. what is the overall length from tip of trailer to back of motor when trimmed down? Garage space is why I asked.
  11. great advice F&F. Three years ago at age 52, I came down with congestive heart failure. 1st major problem that I had had in basically my entire life. Ankles swolled up like balloons, couldn't breath, it was bad. It was sort of a comulnation of things, losing dad, mom in law in the same month after both being in hospitals and nursing homes for a year+, and just basic life things. I went into the ER finally on a sunny, Sunday afternoon because I thought it wouldn't be crowded. They diagnosed me real quick, got me on lasiks for 3 days, plus other meds, and I lost 20 lbs of fluid in that time. And the biggest thing was that I was a salt aholic. I salted everything and anything. Went to No Salt Substitute with no problem. Since I have had no issues, but I get checked by both a cardiologist and my regular MD twice or year or more. Now, let's not even get into the Dermotologist.......... LOL! Sunscreen kids!
  12. fished about 2.5 hours, they bit the frog ok for the first 30 minutes but then the clouds gave way. Caught 4 on the frogs, nothing over 2 lbs. I had 3 strikes and caught 2. Thanks for the tips! We did back off into the channel and caught several on worms, again nothing big, but we can do that all winter. Sun came out and started getting hotter and we both had committments this evening so we came home. Will try again soon some early morning.
  13. getting ready to head out and try it this afternoon, the rain has petered out before it got here, but it is cloudy with a nice breeze and actually below 90 degrees.
  14. I am not walleye fisherman by any means. Use to catch a few back in the day at Mark Twain on cranks, but they were mostly incidental. My question is why can't a plastic worm be substituted for a crawler on your harness rigs? Are walleyes that sensitive to smell? I am sure plastic worms have been tried many times, but just wondered what the "experts" have to say.
  15. headed to page 13. Good, I guess. Lots of interesting thoughts, but I just ask we use common sense. You can't spend more than what you take in for anything and expect to last.
  16. the little lake I like to fish in the winter is basically now ringed by weeds and slop (pond scum). I am going to rig a rod with 50lb braid and a seven foot composite rod and throw some frogs and horny toads. Any suggestions to try to improve hook up ratios? My past experiences with frogs is about a 10% hook up.
  17. we have enough oil for 300 years. In that amount of time we will have an alternative, probably hydrogen, but who knows solar and wind are not the answer. 100 yrs ago, Model T's were the in thing, much less one man canoes. What do you think another 100 years will bring? I vision a world where people ride around in vehicles like the Jetson's cartoons. Hover crafts delux.. You can bet we won't be driving around in F 150s.
  18. be my guest FW. The ATL forum was classic. I guess we all mellow with age, But public lakes are public lakes, just like public streams are public streams.
  19. good post 9lb. We will never figure out fish even though they have a brain the size of a pea.
  20. they have the same rights as anyone here to enjoy the public waters.
  21. 0.7 inches of rain overnight. It will help a little, but unfortunately another very dry/hot week is in the forecast. Black River yesterday at K Bridge was about as low it gets. Did catch some pumpkinseeds sight fishing. They are still nesting.
  22. it seems like everyone wants to pay more in permits and tags. I am tired of paying so much into the governments. Most of us pay 30 to 40% of our income into various taxes. A little common sense in spending by our elected officials would go a long, long, way. I worked for the Corps for 32+ years, and they waste a a whole bunch of money, as do their partners(MDC, IDNR, F&W). Some of the stuff I have observed would blow a lot of people's mind. Until our elected officials actually represent us, it will never change. They are lining their pockets from dog catcher all the way to the White House. I think the best thing is one term limits for every office, And, I am voting every incumbent out again this year, from dog catcher on up. Career politicians are a very bad thing.
  23. kudos to Johnny Morris. He has lived the American Dream.
  24. Ultralance12 very good post! Lots of thought went into it. In 3 or 4 hundred years we will all sit on a cloud and look down and see a world none of us had ever thought was possible. Then we will go fishing in the greatest place in the world. Now, "beam me up Scotty!"
  25. good answer Mr. Smith. Have a good day.
