  1. I know what they "think" and say. But the fact is the bass fishing quality on both these lakes is way below the other lakes in Missouri. And believe me, the fish that are in the lakes are not stunted and there is not an overabundance of little guys.
  2. is it cheap chicken little?
  3. Everyone? This everyone doesn't accept the climate is warming.
  4. many experts are saying if normal logging practices could still be deployed that the wild fires would not spread as fast and be easier to contain. Same scenerio that played out in the southern california wildfires a few years ago.
  5. you should jump on as a co angler next year stump bumper when FLW comes back. The "pros" would love you.
  6. the Arcadia Valley has gotten about a 1/4 inch, and it is still raining. Some other places in the St. Fran and Black basins have gotten close to an inch. Not a drought buster, but it helps. Unfortunately, the next 10 or so days look pretty dry.
  7. I fished an 8 boat jack pot last night, 7 to 2 at clearwater. A friend won with 13lbs. We got 3rd with 8lbs. We caught 5 keepers in 7 hours. Anyway, started off a with 2lber on a spook right after take off. Then had a 4+ on the spook, both hooks in its mouth, coming straight to the net which Jack had under the water. Right when it got over the net, it jumped straight up. The spook flew ovr the boat but we both thought the fish landed directly into the net. Nope. Would have been BB and got us 2nd. I am beginning to think I will just abandon a net altogether. Overall I think, you lose more fish trying to hurrying them than just fighting them. Lost fish at boat side for me at least is less in fun fishing than in tournaments...............I think. Anyways, caught a little keeper on a red shad worm just after dark, finally caught another one about 1.5lbs on a black/blue jig about midnight off the dam, then one on the jig about 2lbs at 1:30. Why is it Clearwater and Wappapello do not have 15 inch size limits? I think MDC needs to re-think this. Only lakes in MO w/o a 15" length limit.
  8. Government can't lead. If you think otherwise, think again and do some research.
  9. I don't think a couple of days would bother anything, probably not a couple of weeks even. And it one would happen to get "memory", just stack it the other way for a while.
  10. I am fishing a little jackpot tomorrow evening at Clearwater Lake, 7 to 2. Been 10+ years or so sinced I fished a night event. I use to fish 4 or 5 a year at LOZ and the standard deal was tx rigged big worms or lizards. I am set up for that, but are there any new night tactics that you think might be worth trying. Thanks! (hopefully we can catch a decent limit before it darks on top or shakey heads, lol!)
  11. I try to hang up my spares, but still have several that are in my rotation that get stacked in a corner. I try to just rotate them around every couple of weeks. Never had an issue with memory in 45+ years of fishing so I guess my madness works.
  12. another forum I visit is discussing old metal tackle boxes. I am sure a lot of you folks have some. Here is one I still use. This was my first, very own, tackle box, vintage early 1960's. I must have been 5 yrs old or so, I even wrote my name inside of it as you can see on one of the following photos. I still use it to store my winter trout fishing stuff and micro jigs for wade fishing. That is a 12 inch scale stamped on the top. The faded sticker on the lid says something like Pinitin??? in faded blue letters and Model No. 4313.
  13. I have been checking chinaanglers.com for responses and can't get any feedback on the 500 yrs of data. But when one of the best respected hydraulic engineers in the world tells me something I listen. He had a unique opportunity, and benefited from it. Tim, with all of your contacts maybe you can fetch the data. I am sorry I can't.
  14. Justin, you really contradict yourself. Subsidy's means that the govt is spending money on something the public doesn't want, force feeding them if you will. And those subsidies expand the budget. Get it?
  15. fished a club T on 6/3. The lake is still a few inches below summer level, no rain, and the lake can't fill up. Thus no current to position fish anywhere. Water temp was 79, clarity as good as Wappapello ever gets, 2 to 3 feet. It was just a junk fishing event. We caught one early that weighed 4lbs on topwater, and then caught about 30 other bass throughout the day. Of the five we weighed in besides the spook fish, one was on a pop r, one on a jig, and two on carolina rigged creature baits. We ended up with 10lbs, and the winners had 10.3lbs. We fished down in the lake, the winners fished up the river and mid lake. We did have one 5lb fish, at noon on a sunny day, blow the spook completely out of the water and then jump over it, with ever getting a hook in it. I love my spooks, but sometimes I hate them! But that is topwater fishing.
  16. someone posted a good graph back on page 2 showing temp rise and CO 2 for the last 120+ years. But in one of my earlier posts I mentioned the Chinese has temp data going back 500 years. And it shows that it is cyclic, up and down, over hundreds of years. We can debate forever car emissions vs. volcano eruptions, removal of vegetation, etc. I just try to look at all the available info and form my own conclusions.
  17. Justin, I really doubt anyone is against cleaning up everything. We have made great strides in my life time of 5+ decades. You should have been around in the late 60s or 70s. Things are 500% better than then. I myself just doesn't want propeganda to influence me.
  18. I guess I will throw in my 2 cents of the climate change stuff. We, the USA, have at best 125 yrs of climate data. A former co-worker, engineer in hydaulics and hydrology, spent 3 months in China not long ago. China has 500 years of climatic data. Guess what, it was all very cyclic over all that time. Just like the dust bowl years, and Europes record cold winter this last year. I just look at the facts and when I see something that smells fishy it usually is fishy. Like I said just my 2 cents.
  19. sorry Ness. I thought I was just posting something neat.
  20. RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE KANSAS CITY/PLEASANT HILL MO 747 AM CDT SAT JUN 2 2012 ...RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE TIED AT KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL... THE TEMPERATURE DROPPED TO 47 DEGREES THIS MORNING AT KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THIS TIES THE OLD RECORD OF 47 SET IN 1969. ............................................... In Arcadia Valley this morning, the temp gage on the Rapp weather station showed 42 at daylight. What a difference a week makes! We also got about 0.4 inches of rain this week. But, you sure can't tell it now!
  21. thanks Mr. Lilley. Great photos and report. Makes me want to go trout fishing again.
  22. I would guess to keep some water in the bushes for the fry.
  23. amazingly it has been raining steadily for 45 minutes in southeast MO. 1 to 2 inches forecast tonight. (I will take 1/2 inch right now). With this morning's rain, there actually might be a trickle of run off if it does rain good tonight/tomorrow.
  24. thanks for the great report Justin. My Dad and Grandpa are with me everytime I go.
  25. I read this and shook my head. Release Elk in the wild, and then shoot them when they get out and start roaming? Am I missing something here? http://www.dailystatesman.com/story/1853386.html
