  1. I fished it on the co-angler side and what's more impressive is one of the 22# bags was only 4 fish! The 17# bag on the co-angler side was only 4 fish, as well. The boater had 2 fish over 8#s. Every person that was in the top 5 on both the boater and co side, caught all their fish on the A-Rig. I took 3rd and felt pretty fortunate to be placed there with 14.7#s.
  2. Headed to the expo and weigh-in today. Am I better off parking at Hard Rock Casino and catching one of their shuttles or is there enough parking to just drive my truck down there. thanks!
  3. Braid w/ fluoro leader.
  4. You have to have a permit to set brush piles?!
  5. Hi J-Doc. Yes he did! Thanks for reminding him. He invited me this weekend but I already had plans to head to Table Rock so he said we'd shoot for another time. Have a safe and happy New Year!
  6. Is there a website that has info on the tournament? Also, if anyone wants to fish this but doesn't have a co-angler, let me know!
  7. Thanks J-Doc. I sent him a PM a few weeks ago. I don't think he's been back on here since he sent the above message. I'll be sure to ask him when I hear from him, though.
  8. I'm going to bring my insurance local (home & auto). Anyone know of a good insurance agent that's also an outdoorsman in NWA?
  9. Troy is an excellent guy. I fished as a co-angler in his boat at a tournament at LOZ. He put us on some sows!
  10. His name is Troy Gregg.
  11. jolicious- PM sent...I think...
  12. Good lookin' boat! Congrats!
  13. Quillback- That sounds great. Don't worry about the fish not biting. I'm just happy to be on the water.
  14. Thanks for the welcome! That's the problem, I don't have a boat over here. I have pretty much adopted my old man's Bass Cat, but it stays garaged at their place over in Shell Knob until I'm over there to take it out. I primarily fish for bass and am pretty self-sufficient from the back of the boat.
  15. I moved my practice (and family) to Rogers, AR last month from Pittsburg, KS. I am a frequent visitor to Table Rock but have never fished Beaver. I've been so busy this last month that I have not had a chance to run over to Shell Knob to fish and I'm starting to get the shakes. If anyone would like to split gas one of these weekends and show a newcomer to Beaver the ropes, I'd sure appreciate it.
  16. Is there anyone in NWA that does rod repairs?
  17. I love their reels, as well. Their rods, however, don't compete with other rods at their respective price points. Even the new line of rods they will be introducing don't compare to the competitions rods. Like I said, I'm a huge fan/advocate of their reels...but in my opinion, their rods have a ways to go.
  18. I stopped by Cabela's today after work to kill some time. I remembered the Gen 3 STX's had recently been released so went over to take a look at them and see how they felt in my hand. I absolutely love the Gen 2 STX so had pretty high expectations for this. I'm not sure why, but I felt a little disappointed by it. Maybe it was the foam handles...? Anyways, have any of you guys had an opportunity to actually field test one? How did it compare to the Gen 2?
  19. Great pictures lilley! When you are jigging that spoon through the schools, are you really ripping it up (5'-6') off the bottom or just bouncing it a little off the bottom.
  20. It looks like the weather is going to be pretty nice this weekend. So much so, that my wife wants me to take her fishing. I figured to keep my blood pressure down as well as keeping from losing a bunch of lures, we'd drift crawlers. I've got one arrow in my quiver for walleye and that's tying a palomar to a bottom bouncer leaving about 1.5' leader and tying on a floating jig head tipped with a crawler. It sounds like drop shotting is effective as well. Also, I forgot to mention this in my previous post. When I walked down to the dock Saturday morning, there were (2) 3 pounders hanging out in about 3 feet of water next to the walk way. The docks and water behind them are holding a lot of fingerings...
  21. Thanks for the report Bill. I'm pretty sure I saw you this morning. I was pulling out of the cove about 7:30 this morning in a red Bass Cat. I also think I saw RPS...if he has a newer Lund w/ a 75 horse plus kicker... I tried jigging a spoon but haven't had any luck. I did most of my damage today on a DD14 and DD22. Quite a few shorts...2 keepers.
  22. Heading to the lake this weekend. I assume that the Saturday night tournament out of Shell Knob is still going on. Anybody know any different?
  23. Yeah, they've got pumps to fill and drain the ballasts. Nobody in there right mind would trailer their boats with the ballasts full. Most guys I know drain them as soon as they're done pulling the boarder(s). My folks have an "X Boat" as well as a bass boat and use both. I know it's hard when you have a bunch of drunks run over your line but try not to group all of the "X Boats" into the "completely ignorant of common courtesy towards fishermen."
  24. Thanks for the replies. @ Riverfish, do you know who/how to contact the guy that puts this on every week? Thanks!
  25. I was fishing off of my folks' dock Saturday evening and had several boats come in. I talked to a few of them and they said they were fishing a night tournament out of Shell Knob. I looked online but couldn't find any information. Anyone know of a website or a point of contact for the tournament?
