Holiday Island, Eagle Rock, Big M Weekend Report
Alex Heitman replied to Ken Drish's topic in Table Rock Lake
Thanks for the report. I think the rise this big just scatters them everywhere. So much more lake for them to hide in. Just put the trolling motor down on high and is what it sounds like. -
Sounds like it's time to get the bass boat out and do some fishing!
-
Champ will buy them all before we can get our hands on them anyways haha
-
They are one of my favorite baits but I had 3 develop a slight crack in the bill where it comes in unison with the body. This was from simply grinding the bottom. They are fish catchers but still wonder how long they will hold up. I see they are coming out with basically a wiggle wart now. It's called the rock star and looks just like a wiggle wart.

More enforcement will solve a lot of the craziness out there, maybe not loading a boat lol but the situations with the crazy drivers could be resolved.

Nice report! That's the way I love to fish. Power fishing up long creek when they are biting you can't beat it. How far did you have to run up?
-
Mitch I tried your craws earlier in the year and loved them on Table Rock. They look great in the water. I only managed a few on them but they were locked on another type of bait that I was using. Next time I'm down there I'm going to try them on a swing head in some deeper water and will let you know.
-
I like to use them in the summer but I haven't been down for about 3 weeks or more. Great summer time bait in the brush piles and ledges
-
Best bait = tube

Awesome job and great catches. Good to see you can still get on some bigger fish this time of year. Thanks for the report.
-
Quill I don't think the deep bite will go away. I think they would stay put or maybe move to the bottom more instead of being suspended over 80 ft of water. I would be flipping the brush and willows though close to deep water and throwing a deep crankbait with all the current.

I was not going to comment on this but why are some of you so gung ho about keeping bass? Obviously most of the guys on here are catch and release and you come blabbing about how you keep bass when you can and it is no big deal. Well it is a big deal to me, especially when this is such a good resource and some of the members post great information and give you specific ways to catch them. I wouldn't broadcast if you like frying bass all over the forum like some have either. You are just cooking you own goose and reports will be left out. You want to keep a few bass every now and then, and when I say a few I don't mean a whole limit. That is fine and your choice and right. I personally never keep any because there is better fish to eat. I would like to say a lot of other things but I'm going to bite my tongue and hope things go back to normal around here. If you keep bass don't broadcast all over the forum or you will never see reports on here and the catch and release guys won't have to think about you taking a knife to a fish before they post a report.

I would have to say the Stradic from shimano is the best spinning reel there is that isn't over $450. Super smooth and lightweight and one hell of a drag system. I have two of them and they are worth every penny. The president reel is good for $60 but will usually only last a little over a year. I thought they were great when I had a couple but after a few years o see why they are only $60.

First of all the Ned rig is not new by any means as it has been stated a million times on the forum. It was a good kept secret until a few years ago and people would just refuse to try and use something so small to catch bass. I was skeptical at first but after I tried it I definitely believe in it. It is my go to bait when corruptions are tough and bites are few and far between. By the way it is not like it is expensive at all to try. You can get a pack of worms for $3 and some jig heads for $4. Not breaking the bank by any means. Again it isn't a magic bait that will catch them every time. Just another tool. Also people say it can't catch big fish. My dad and I caught 3 fish over 6lbs on it this year and some smallmouth pushing 5 lbs on Table Rock. If you still don't want to try it then that's fine with me. More fish for us ?
-
Nice report. Not bad at all. I was down this past weekend after the huge rains and only caught a couple on top water but we did not get out early enough. I was with family a lot and didn't get out until after 7 most mornings. Fishing was tough to figure out. Tough to find lots of numbers for us but we did find quality fish. Pretty much junked fished a lot. We found the better fish by flipping the flooded brush, bushes, and willows in the dam area. Another key was laydowns that extended out from the bank. I threw a top water all through it to and only managed one fish doing that. The best bite was on a big 8 inch lizard on a stand up head and a big senko. Did catch some big SM on the puke tube. Had one I would say well over 5 that came off by the boat. Never could catch up to her. We didn't catch lots of fish but we had over 15 lbs or more everyday we were there. It seemed like when we left Sunday that bite up shallow was getting a lot better. I see the lake level is dropping so it is probably over now.

The black spots are fine. I was concerned with the fish my dad caught and the one I caught this year because the normal green skin had come off and there was a slimy goo layer on top.
-
Check out this 7lber my dad caught last year that weird stuff all over his head. We caught another one out of the same cove this year that was over 6lbs that had similar stuff going on. Hope it's just from the spawn.

Take a spinning rod or bait caster and throw some jerkbaits as well
-
I wasn't being serious I was trying to stir the pot a little ?
-
It's just a 3wire arig. They have been out for years.

Alex Heitman replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
I wouldn't be afraid to use 8 or 10lb in good flurocarbon. I use it all the time on the current river when throwing jerkbaits. And when I say jerkbaits I use the full size floating rogue with weighted lead strips. This helps keep the bait down in current and just enough to slowly rise. -
Indian Point 5-6 evening and night report
Alex Heitman replied to Hammer time's topic in Table Rock Lake
Bo I think there are a lot of Blacks in the dam area. I catch quite a few and target them regularly. They are just very smart and more skiddish with the ultra clear water. My biggest LM from Table Rock have always come close to the dam. You may be right about not being as many as before. I wouldn't know since that's before I really fished the lake a lot. I do think it is bouncing back though and lots of quality LM are showing up. -
I fished it. Ended up with 10lbs. Check line was 11 lbs. Lots of weights stacked in the 10-11lb range. Caught lots of fish and culled a lot. Just couldn't get the bigger bites. All of my fish were caught on the ned. Big thanks to Dave for the heads. They are great and work extremely well. Thanks Dave.

Just clip it right on your life vest and that solves both problems
