  1. Anybody have any idea what the water temp is in the dam or kimberling area?
  2. What a tease! Hope you catch some
  3. I'm very interested in the spro rock crawler. I will be picking up a few nyself
  4. RPS good point. There wasn't much of a schooling fish topwater bite but in the dead heat of the summer I had some great days catching some big LM. They were dead shallow right on the bank when it was 100 degrees out. Couldn't really explain it but it was awesome.
  5. I sure hope it will at least group some fish up or put them in more predictable areas. They are scattered right now. Got out last weekend and it was pretty tough.
  6. Sounds like a good time to burn down the bank with a small walking bait or prop bait right now. Just cover as much water as possible and I bet you could put together a decent sack. I won't be down for a couple of weeks. Hopefully they go into a big fall swing by then
  7. I fished the last two days in the dam area with my dad and it is brutal. Could not hardly buy a bite. All the fish we caught were on a jig. Caught a few deep off of points and some shallow. Caught one or two on some docks. It's the toughest time I've had fishing down here in quite some time. The conditions seem like the fish would bite, but they thought otherwise. Probably could of had a better few days if we would have ran up to long creek or the James but did not make the trip.
  8. Miller was not the greatest but never should have taken him out. Then he makes the mistake of pulling Martinez. Adams doesn't help either. Just hard to watch this game.
  9. I'm all for the SEC but I really miss the Big 12 and all the rivalry games we had on both football and basketball.
  10. I have the utmost respect for Mike Webb who runs the tournaments. Great guy. I called him one day out of the blue and met him on the water just to help me repair my carpet from a super glue spill. What guide takes time out of their day to help some one like that? I'm glad he puts on these tournaments. There isn't a lot of circuits put on in my opinion that are run better than the CPA. If you are looking for a good circuit this is one of them.
  11. If you fish to make money you better be one hell of an angler and have a lot of time on your hands because that is what it takes. You have to fish day in and day out and be really good
  12. You guys and your redfins haha. For some reason I haven't had much success with a Redfin. Seems to me they bite a walking bait just as good. It is probably me though. Ihave never been able to get a Redfin to work the way it is supposed to. They take a while to tune and it seems once I get it tuned, I can tie it on at a later date and still have to retune it. I have caught some nice fish on it, but it just seems it's a lot of work when I can just throw a walking bait.
  13. I think the fish kill has a lo to do with there not being a big supply of big LM. If you look at tournaments though, I think most of them won are close to KC and down towards Long Creek. I think this is because tons of fish get released at the KC area from tournaments. The released fish on the other hand are more conditioned to fishermen as well because of this and therefore can be harder to catch. I think they are there but are just smart and harder to catch. Just my opinion though
  14. Nice trip champ. I fished the joe bass Saturday and it was really tough. We had some quality bites on topwater in the dam area but could not keep them buttoned up to the boat. I had one probably over six come right off at the boat when we were getting ready to net him. There is some nice quality LM shallow if you are in the right area. You have got to cover lots of water and make pinpoint casts. We caught a bunch of K's on drop shot, but could not get one over 14 1/2 inches. What I found out late in the day is just like you said. There is some nice bass around docks up in the slips. Caught them from 5-30 ft on jig. We went out Sunday and had a lot better day doing this.
  15. Thanks guys. I forgot about Doug. he really knows his stuff. I would agree its the transducer but it just doesn't make sense how it will read then quit then start again. It really sucks when you get up in the river arms and do not have a depth to go off of when you know you are shallow.
  16. I thought it might be, but my question is why does it always have a side imaging readout working correctly and then the depth, sonar, and down imaging not work all the time? Would they have different transducers or are they hooked up to the same one. I can't find another one unless it is way underneath my battery compartment.
  17. I have a 998 si/di at my console. I'm having a problem with the sonar and down imaging reading. My side imaging always works. For some reason it will quit reading depth and cut out my sonar and down imaging. It will start working again if there is a big depth change such as channel to a point. Anyway know what this could be? Also if you turn it off and back on it will work and quit working when it wants to.
  18. The jump would be nice but what would be nicer is dirty water!
  19. My brother and I have always said the bigger fish send in the smaller scouts to check out the bait before the big ones commit haha
  20. Blazerman that's exactly why I advise people not to buy a bass boat from a tournament angler. They know they are getting a new boat in a year or two and run the piss and out of there boat and don't take care of it. Not all are like this but a good majority are.
  21. I've just been throwing walking baits. Size of them differs day by day. Banks are hit or miss. They may be down one bank and not the same type on another bank. You just have to experiment and cover lots of water. Today I found some big fish schooling in a cove. Only managed to boat two of them but they were 5+ lbs. I had several other blow ups but they either missed the bait or hung me up. Bo my arms and wrist usually never hurt me. I am young though. It's usually my upper back and shoulder that bothers me.
  22. Too water is by far my favorite way to fish. I had my go pro video camera with me today and got some awesome strikes and jumps. It's been a blast for sure.
  23. Hell champ you may be right. You have a lot more years of fishing under your belt than I do. I'm just stating from what I've leaned from my personal experience.
  24. I've been out everyday until about 11 or so. Started off the first couple mornings chasing surfacing fish in open water with a topwater. Mostly some smaller K's with a few good K's and Largemouth mixed in. Also caught some throwing a deep crank at the school of surfacing fish. The topwater bite on open water only last until about 730 or so. The last few days though I have been running banks and have been catching some good LM right on the bank with a topwater. I mean dead shallow. This bite last until 10 or so. All of these have been good solid quality fish. You won't load the the boat but I've been able to get a nice limit by 8 every morning. Other than that I drop shot for an hour or so and call it a day. Mostly sub length K's with a few keepers mixed in doing this. 35ft plus over at least 50ft. It just gets boring to me. I believe if you had the patience you could throw a topwater all day of you are in the right area and still catch them. I noticed a lot more fish moving up for some reason after this huge heat wave. Doesn't make sense but they are there.
  25. Another point is that I like to sometimes pop my jigs up hard and let them fall. A slower sink usually works better for me when they want it that way.
