  1. zarra i was just using to heavy power pro on those micro guide rods for my arigs. I think the 20lb power pro will be just fine. I bit the bullet in February when i was having trouble with my line guides freezing up and let Rick LaPoint fix me up with a 7'6'' heavy action rod for my Arig. Its got the bigger line guides on it and its very sensitive but its stout!!!!!!
  2. I bet you will like that rod all my main rods are team lew;s except for two RazR rods. I'm glad Jim fixed you up he;s been helping my get lined out for about 5 years now and has never steered me wrong.
  3. Bill I'm working on a deal to sell mine to a buddy who's armature just burned out on his. If his wife says yes I'll give you a call.
  4. I been doing pretty fair on the spro little john md in fire craw and nasty shad, spro RKcrawler in the mud bug and phantom brown, a version of the under spin with a keitech 3.8'' blk shad swim bait either blk or grey shad head with a #6 willow leaf blade or can take the blade off attach a 3/0 vmc ewg hook and skin hook a 3.3'' keitech on it and flukes work well too but if you use a willow leaf blade you need to rig the fluke upside down for clearance. Papi calls it a mustang head but they arent on the market yet because we are still looking it the blakemore patent which has expired but theres still some legal mumbo jumbo with the trade mark. I guess its similar to the original original coca cola bottle or how hershey segments the hershey candy bar. A structure shakey with a grn pumpkin baby brush hog has been good too. FYI heres an article I found concerning Blakemores legal rights to the roadrunner head. http://outonalimbwithtombranchjr.blogspot.com/2015/03/mighty-caseys-bait-of-choice-when-you.html
  5. I agree with Bill. If it was me I'd run up to sportsman factory outlet on Bennett Street and talk to Jim Loven. Lews has a cranking rod designed by David Fritz for sale for 50 bucks. then i'd let Jim fix me up with one of the first production Lews Custom rods to match what i was trying to achieve. those black custom rods arent no slouches for less than 80.00 bucks.
  6. most my rods are micro guide and ive had trouble with braid on them. i guess im not using small enough diameter braid. i bought some 20lb powee pro the other day im gonna spool up on a spinning rod using a flouro leader for small to med crankbaits.
  7. i'd break out the med diving cranks and work the pea gravel pockets and the points and transition banks from pea gravel to chunk or on bluff ends. its WART time fellas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. 10-4 on the spit!
  9. im pretty close to all of you on line size. 10 on jerk baits 12 on my crankin rod 17 flourescent on my night worm and jig rods. 20 on my heavy cranking and spinnerbait rods then i have two arig rods. 20 braid on my lews custom frog rod and 50 on my heavy razor rod. berkley just come out with a flourocarbon designed for spinning reels i put 10# on my med shakey rod and 6# on my crappie and wht bass rods and so far so good put it this way its better than the seagar i had on them.
  10. i tried the seagar invizx floro this spring. i wasted my darn money i'm going back to Mc Coy on everything. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/McCoy_Fishing_Line/catpage-LNEMCCOY.html
  11. not sure about next week but they are catching eyes at the dam on jerk baits. if you go up the river i like keying on channel breaks leading off the flats. bluebird sky and or clear water i throw the 110 jerker in pro blue, cloudy and or stained water i like the mc stick in table rock shad or any jerker in a bone color.
  12. i had to run into o reilly's and get a new tab ring for my prop and by the time i got it fixed the wind was howling down here and the Tstorms were just starting to pop up on the dade cedar line. my tourney partner was up sons just at sun up throwing warts and he was doing pretty good but he had to pull off the water about 9:00 because the railroad called him into work early. we will get together soon i'm sure but I decided to play it better safe than sorry especially since i was have prop troubles.
  13. Phil thnx for the report and glad you were able to find some time to chase a few whites. I love my Bass fishing but i love catching those big sows on light tackle especially if ya have to pull them across some current. It just dont get much better than that to me.
  14. yesterday the crappie didnt shut down we out thank ourselves and thought the cold spell had moved them back down the creek to the warmer deeper water on the bluff. Today I drove up scouting round again and found them cruising the banks on the road bed looking for a place to do their deal. Blk/chart jig of bout any type hair or plastic grub or tube just had to be the right color, 18'' under a bobber and most mine come less than 15 feet off the bank and some right on it under lay downs and wood washed up. I just about burned up cause i had a blk T shirt on and I wussed out and went home before 6:00 pm. Didnt get my limit but if id stayed till just before dark i wudda cause thats when they really turn on good. Listens fellas Sons creek is very low the flats on each side of the road bed are only 4' deep in the middle. you can put in at the ramp on the south side of the bridge but if you do be very careful. I'd hate to see someone damage a prop or lower unit when the fishing off the road bed is just as good most the time.

  16. i fully agree with you quill. i started fishing it on Stockton last year and really didnt know how to fish it till i started following Daves posts. i havent caught anything over 3.5lbs on it but ive caught good solid keepers that more than once have put me in the money. The hardest thing I've had to train myself on wasnt as much slowing down but not having constant contact with the bait drives me bonkers. But i force myself to dead stick it on slack line or throw it across the wind and leave the slack in the line. Thanks Dave for all your help!!!
  17. 39 bridge area is extremely shallow even going half mile down the bluff the depth only averaged around 7' and above the bridge on the flat around the big stumps its under 4 feet and you get in 2fow pretty fast if your not careful. very few guys will run up to 39 from main lake because its so shallow thats why even on a monday there was trucks and trailers half way up the road on both sides.
  18. i wish theyd outlaw the rig in all tournaments several already have the ABA i fish outlawed them last winter. theres a real fine line on how to fish that thing in a tourney. Ive seen it dragged behind the boat which constitutes trolling except it is reeled very very very slow!!!!! i'll thow it if i have too but my shoulder feels like its gonna fall off after a couple hours.
  19. I'll pm you on how to get hold of papi. we been working on a 240 bass jig order for a guy in Iowa who does shows but we gotta find time to put some blades together because we will soon get blasted on orders for them too.
  20. i talked to Bob about an hour ago and told him you was looking for a guide. if you contact him tell him Jim recommended him to you. he will treat you right.
  21. i love to slow roll those big thumpers at night around big boulders. you never know when a big small jaw is going to inhale it. BAM!!!
  22. if i keep spending money on my boat and buying every piece of fishing tackle i think just in case i might need it i'm gonna have to go back to work lmbo!!!!!!
  23. your right griz the ramp at 39 was a mess. some guy fishing off the bank parked right in the middle of the road so he wouldnt have to walk 100 yards smh!!! Our friend sherm was with us (three boats of us) anyhows hes over 7' tall and weighs over 350 and is solid as a rock. he walked down and asked the guy to move and within 5 minutes we started launching hahaha!!!!!!
  24. fished sons at 39 bridge today. we found 55.3 degree water but no crappie they were there over the weekend but they shut down today for some reason. all i caught was a small male white and a dink LM. probly go again tomorrow and wednesday if the wind dont blow me off the lake.
  25. i dont think it will offend either one because it might be a deal where its whoever is available the date he wants to go out.
