Its already been a strange pre spawn bite for me. Usually Stockton is a couple weeks behind tablerock in the spring.I watch patterns on the rock then apply it later to Stockton with some success. This year has been different. I'm on a strange bite I'm already finding both whites and green fish mixed in with 6 to 8 inch gizzard shad up in the creek pockets on shallow pea gravel banks. I'm not sure if the shad are spawning this early or they are following the 50 to 53 degree water I'm finding. I can't figure out why why the whites and small bass are mixed in with the shad unless there's smaller bait fish mixed in that I'm not seeing. Stockton doesn't have threadfin shad so that might play into the formula but I'm coming down Sunday and see if I can get on a similar shallow jerkbait bite.

I just bought the 2.25 ram mounts I bought the short for the top rail at my console and the long for the front deck. I currently have a 998c on the back but it will be replaced with another 1100 series bird next week.the smaller ram mounts I replace handled my 898's just fine but no way would I use them with the 1100 series birds. Word of advice learned the hard way, I don't suggest mounting the front deck ram in front of your control panel. I was running two and a half foot rollers on Stockton a month ago and we had the mount tilted forward and the graph pointing up. Anyhows the graph vibrated down and pushed the trolling motor cable against the up position on the trim switch. It got kinda hairy for a few seconds.I had to shut the boat down going 30mph to a dead stop. I didn't take on any water over the bow but its a miracle I didn't. I mounted the 1158c off in the right corner completely out of the way.I like it there better anyhows.

I'm going back up tomorrow and see if the whites are still on the same pattern and going to ck out turnback at O highway bridge. We threw bobby garland strollR's in blue thunder blue ice and red laminate chartreuse patterns didnt seem to work. We'd wait for the shad to flip throw right past them and retrieve the bait on 1/8oz jig right off the bottom. Slow steady retrieve.

dprice my partner and I took 3rd with 12.65 and a 4.95 kicker in the Reeves Bros on Sunday we got on a good bite targeting shad balls I heard that there was a good jig bite in the mutton creek area too.I havent been up towards CC for a few weeks but I hope the water has come up besides just getting muddy because the run from Greenfield landing to spfld was a little buggery!!!

it is just getting started I'm just hoping we don't get a bad cold snap with heavy rain and the corp decides to hold water and flood everything its seems like last fee years it happens andand the whites and crappie disappear from their traditional spawning banks

We caught three nice limits today. I'm seeing a nice pattern developing. If you can find the shad balls shallow on pea gravel banks you will find the whites in withthem. We had the same pattern the last three days in different locations.

go across the CC bridge to the first road back to the left . it will take you down to the old road bed. walk around the little pocket to the opposite side and throw a grub/ swimming minnow type bait from the point down to the rip rap on the new bridge. if that dont work go to the other side of the road bed and walk down to the pocket about 50 yards down and do the same. i havent been up there since the rain but heard it was a mudhole over the weekend. if i was gonna fish off the bank id go to the old road bed at the 39 bridge north of greenfield. sons creek is in pretty good shape. i caught some nice whts up that way on sunday fishing a bass derby.

well after fishing my old stomping grounds i had a hard time getting out of bed and heading to stockton but im glad i did because we got on a really good jerkbait bite today and put 12.65lbs in the boat with a 4.95lb kicker which got us in the money.. we targeted shad balls and used a pretty fast aggressive cadence. slow cadence with long pauses didnt work. the fish were absolutely tearing the shad balls to pieces. we put alot of fish in the boat but only had 30 minutes left when i caught our 5th keeper. if the weather holds up fairly well and we dont flood where we fished i see our bite getting even better i'm hoping we will see a similar bite on the rock in a few days'

we launched out of state park marina at 8:00am i still had ice on my top rail from the freezing fog trailering up from mt. vernon. i didnt start peeling of layers till 10 :00 this morning the fog rolled in on us at launch time and got pretty nasty for awhile.we had to fish a main lake pocket till the fog lifted. nice fish Rich we couldnt get a jig bite today at all but we had a completely different bite that was pretty good our kicker fish went 4.95lbs. Congratulations again and glad you enjoyred your trip down here.

i had a great time and met alot of people i'd talked to on here for almost 5 years that was the most important part for me. fishing was tough for us but dblades and i had a blast anyhows. i was surprised the water wasnt a couple degrees warmer but i still think those fish are gonna make a move out of the abyss anytime now. i actually think from what i read first of the week that the muddy run off and weak cold front pushed them a little deeper. i marked alot of fish suspended tight in the pole timber and cedars at 40 plus fow. i want to thank everyone involved in putting on such a nice event and thnx for such a great dinner i stuffed myself on chicken and donna's tator salad. i hope we do this again soon. we'll it was a pleasure getting back on the rock but have to get on the road back to stockton and reeves bros tourney this morning at 8:00am. lets do this again it soon!!!!!!

has anyone tried trolling flicker shad yet. with 52 degree water they should work great!!!
-
ive got a couple of hughseys warts and love them but 5bites dont sell yourself short you work looks good and your using proven baits. im on bass baits buy and barter on facebook and ive seen some the most beautiful paint jobs you can ever imagine but some of them use cheap knock off blanks and its starting to come back on them. they are getting alot of complaints that the baits dont run true and cant even be tuned. point is pretty dont always catch fish. I think your on the right track.

March 11th. 2015 Shell Knob Table Rock Lake Fishing Report
Sac River Jim replied to Bill Babler's topic in Table Rock Lake
Bill the shallow jerkbait bite on mud banks had been good on stockton earlier this year but i got tired of busting bills on 25.00 jerkbaits!!!!!! -
last i heard about the dam was during the cabelas tournament and they were deep still in a winter pattern. we are thinking the strain of walleye that spawn up the creeks are on the move. im going to drive up to campbell ford on sons creek the first of the week do a little wading and see what i can find. will let you know if they've moved up yet.
-
dang i just bought two off them the short one was 109.00 and the long one was 129.00

Dill just called me wondering how much rain were getting in the Mt. Vernon area because he crossed turnback at O highway bridge about 5 oc'lock and said the water was starting to come up its from bank to bank instead of just trickling down the center. by no means can you get a boat up there but every little bit will help. the whites moved up big sac to hulston bridge two days ago so with the oxygenated water coming down turnback i suspect a major move this weekend, traditionally sons is a couple weeks behind turnback but next time i go to greenfield im throwing a spinning rod in the truck and running up to campbell ford and see if anythings up there yet. Its been raining steady here since early afternoon but no gully washer just a good steady rain.

it'd be 2500 dollars worth of jerk baits
-
your work is impressive ive traded for some other cranks the other day theres bagleys and bombers and ect. maybe we can do some bartering some cranks for a couple of your custom work in exchange.

Bill I'm thinking the same way you are I think a solid spot like you caught the other day might be the ticket but my question is are they gonna stay deep in submerged timber or are they gonna make a move. the rain is going to trigger them but when. I'm going to go to a couple my old spring spots for K's start deep and work up till I find them.
