  1. first of all fellas i dont wont to cause any trouble on here but i got pretty upset at some of the comments i heard today watching the weigh in that i decided to post my opinion on my fb wall to blow off a little steam. i also sent it to one of my good friends on here and he urged me to post it. so heres a copy and paste of what i wrote. ok bass elite series anglers heres the way I see it. Some of you were whining and crying about catching tons of short spots today. table rock lake has a forage base big enough to support alot more bass than it does. A couple of you suggested the length limit be reduced and we eat the 13'' fish so bigger fish can be caught. You come here every few years and some of you always complain because you struggle. We struggle on this lake every day we fish it but we've learned how to fish it (knock on wood.) Who do some of you think you are telling us how to manage our fishery. Some of us that fish it all the time like it just the way it is.I got news for you any given day anyone can get that big bite, ya don't have to be a bass elite to do so. As some of you can see Yes I'm PI$$ED and DISAPPOINTED. BASS has been one the biggest supporters of catch and release and you suggest we keep and eat our future generation of 3lb. spots smh!!!!!! This is a prime example of what happens when you forget where you come from. Maybe some of you should remember what your grandpa taught you about the sport!!!!!! FYI this post is only directed at a couple three of you and much respect to the rest of you. To the ones I'm referring to, you did a pi$$ poor job of representing our sport and sportsmanship in general today. There are young anglers that idolize you andsoak up every move you make and is your whining and crying what you want them to learn. ''The Rock'' is a wonderful place to get away from the stresses and pressures of everyday life and I can't think of a better way of doing it than running up the Kings in the spring and throwing a wart, sitting over a brush pile in peach orchard cove and catching big slabs, hiking up to Taylor's shoal and hauling in the whites then being worn out carrying the them back to the truck and even sitting here at the house reading all your posts and knowing you share the same passions as I do for that pond in the middle of the ozarks we reverently refer to as ''The Rock.'' Most of us have fished it for many years and some of us our first and dearest memories as a child came from sitting in an old raggedy boat asborbing every last word our fathers and grandfathers were teaching us about fishing and as i got older I realized they were teaching me about life in general. I for one am very proud to have the freedom and opportunity to get out on the lake now and then and it upset me to here professionals put down a place I hold very dear to my heart because they were embarrassed because they only brought in a 12lb bag of fish. Again I dont want to make anybody upset but I feel that I needed to speak my mind on this subject. Tight Lines Everyone.
  2. Ish suggested we fillet our 13'' spots, shame on him
  3. ferral hogs are really causing a problem directly south of chicken rock back in there east of son sac marina. they been tearing that area up bad for a couple three years now. are you guys talking down from springfield cove past the long bluff where it makes a bend and on the right side of the pocket theres a rock corner post on the point. weve caught some good walleye of the point in bass tounaments then go back the next day and theyre gone. go figure smh!!!!!
  4. Good one redsox lmbo!!!!!!

  7. im going to cc saturday and i always stop at backwoods in greenfield for breakfast i know a couple old timers in there that are in their 80's and i'll bet ya money they'll be able to tell us the whole history behind those fences and who the land belonged to when they were built. i'll let ya know what i can find out.
  8. thnx duckie for another good report.
  9. doesnt seem like the color mattered one bit.
  10. thnx for a good report and glad you got on em like that.
  11. congratz on a fine mess of crappie and i really like the colors of those jigs.
  12. great fish!!!!!!!! i think if it was me id be strutting around the big boys with my nose just a tad bit in the air lol!!!!!!
  13. the more i dig into this the more interesting things i find. thnx for the topic
  14. Speaking of weather sites i hate the new format that KY-3-2 in Springfield is using. I cant figure out nothing on it especially the live radar it doesn't pan out far enough to do me any good living down here in Lawrence County.
  15. i did some looking around on the internet because my couriousity is up too. heres a couple of links to some interesting facts i discovered about the area. it doesnt really tell who built the rock walls but i still find some the facts very interesting. .that area on sons creek we are talking about was the first area to be settled starting in the 1820's. so those fences could be very old or even the oldest structures still standing in dade county from the first settlers. anyhows heres the linkz and you can decide for yourself the ''mystery of the rock fences on sons creek.'' http://www.ozarkscivilwar.org/regions/dade-county-missouri http://www.archive.org/stream/historyofdadecou00greeiala/historyofdadecou00greeiala_djvu.txt
  16. with the warmer weather and rain this week it should really help. by the 10th id think the crappie should be up around 39 bridge on sons creek and possibly a walleye or two. i'll be up there the following weekend fishing with my crappie club and i'm planning on fishing up there it should be really good by then.
  17. alton jones just posted a pic on facebook of a big rainbow he caught on a blk/gold rogue. i'd guess we went up the white some wheres around the mouth of roaring river.
  18. i asked my friend that lives a mile north west of there and he said that those fences were built by slaves as a property boundary. he cant remember who owned the land you were talking about but he said that there are still a few of the old rock fences that have been preserved on the corp lands scattered in the area.
  19. ducky it might be a good time to ck out blunks and taylor shoal too i guess it depends how much rain they get up towards springfield next couple of days.
  20. i been following most the pros on fb during the pre fish and ive seen a couple really big smallies posted. i was wondering to myself if the guys that found smallies starting to move might have a good chance to do pretty good or win the whole thing. what you guys think.
  21. luckycraft a good friend of mine in greenfield was catching the whites last week on turnback above the 160 bridge in the first long hole.
  22. bill your so right. last week i watched the forum like a hawk studied maps for hours and thought i had a pattern developing for crappie. our club put in at cape fair at 7:00am saturday morning my partner and i shot to point 15 and flat creek as fast as we could go. everyone else went down towards wooley and piney. make a long story short the boys that went down all weighed their best 5 fish in and most were averaging over a lb. a piece. we almost got skunked. but thats the way this lake is all you can do is give it your best shot. it could have very well been the other way around just as easy. ya just dont know till you get out there after em.
  23. i agree with ducky keep trying blunks (down by the power lines or as far as you can get) then if i was you i'd make the short hike up to taylor shoals and fish just below the ripples. bobby garlands, mr crappies by strike king, or even the .96 cent packs of tubes and grubs from wally world will catch fish and keep the wife from murdering you over a 15.00 A rig. good luck to you and tight lines.
  24. sounds like you had and outstanding trip with your family. glad you got that nice eye too. those two flats at CC are my two favorite places to fish on the whole lake cause like Ham said ya never know what your gonna pull into the boat. thnx for a very good report.
  25. thats what its all about!!!!!
