  1. Mike and I were talking last night and we wouldnt be surprised if the eye arent headed up the creeks and to the darn here pretty quick. It should be on strong by full moon of march.
  2. Talked to my friend in Greenfield yesterday. he said you can get a boat in at CC/Greenfield landing. He thought ruark should be open today.
  3. Bob has taught me alot about catching crappie and walleye on stockton over the years. im sure it will be a very interesting seminar.
  4. i highly recommend you contact phil at lilley's landing resort. he is a class act and will treat you right among being one of the most knowledgble fisherman ive ever had the priveledge to know.
  5. im the same way Mitch alot of times my can of beenie weenies comes home unopened
  6. i use 6lb. McCoy fluoro 100 in the winter because i can get a 1/32 jig deeper and faster when im fishing structure for crappie. the rest of the time i use the McCoy clear blue in either 4 or 6lb test. I like their co-polymer line because i think its got good abrasion resistance and very little spool memory, i seem to get longer smoother casts with it when swimming 1/16th and 1/8 oz grubs and jigs with very little stretch on the hook set. my knots hold good too. i use either 17lb clear blue or the 20lb super spectre braid on my bait casters. Champ is right the BPS Excel is pretty hard to beat.ive bought a couple reels pre spooled with it and had no complaints at all. im hearing good things about the nanofil i think i'll ck into it this spring. thnx for all the input everyone i think ive learned a couple things especially about what knots to use when tying on a leader.
  7. Good luck Bob. i hope you can get on some crappie.

  12. ive got a friend on sons creek and he told me it happened during the ice we had right after the first of the year. he said the big schools broke into balls and theres alot of crappie and whites suspended under them but last time i talked to him last week he went out and only got 3 keeper crappie and they were full of shad.

  19. state park marina is open friend of mine launched there this morning. theres a few places on both sons and the big sac that are private but allow public access that are open. my friend said ruark closed, mutton creek south closed and cedar ridge closed.
  20. thnx for such a good report. sounds to me the fish are starting to cooperate again. im gonna try to see if i can get on a few crappie this coming saturday. I've been getting a few good reports coming out of griesser so if i cant get on the crappie i'm sure i can put on a crawler and head to the back of the creek and catch a nice cat or two.
  21. thanx for the good report.
  22. when is the highway patrol planning the training exercise. i will be up at bolivar landing on saturday so can i expect the lake lvl to be stable or will you be pulling water for the exercise taking in consideration the weather pattern stays dry this coming week.
  23. shaker im glad you brought up the vibrac rooster tails i havent been able to find them for years. i used to get them at wally world. my favorite color is the red and white or the grey. blue when im throwing a rooster tail i'll count it down to the depth i want the i give the rod tip it little snap to get the blade turning then just a steady retrieve and hang on to your rod when your in a school of whites, theyre a blast to catch
  24. straw hat my crappie club will be up at ruark on aug2 to fish a night tournament. i'm thinking like you i think i'll go north down around hawker point and hit some brush and rock piles in a little deeper water, i was on pomme saturday and beat the timber to death back in a cove. we didnt mark any fish till we moved to a brushpile in 20fow on a main lake point. i ended up with 9 most of 10in range. we had one decent crappie 11 1/2 but it sure was awful slow and we worked hard for what we got.
