it was really cool watching that live. i am sure they cut it off to get people to tune into the tv show when it runs. when i first saw what Ashley was using i thought he would pick up a lot of smaller fish but not enough to win. but i was wrong. he knew what he was doing. ended up culling enough to end up with 5- 4 pounders which was quite a sack with the conditions the way they were. and i agree it was great seeing the hometown kid win.

Blazerman replied to Blazerman's topic in General Chat
Yeah i got kicked out a long time ago. Now i am debating on whether they are worth buying again. Saw the just signed a deal with BASS to cover the Classic. Not sure if that will help the cause but there will probably be some cool videos to watch. Ness, looks like a Bloomberg screen shot? -
I Think It's A Drum - Winter Smallie Edition (Pics)
Blazerman replied to MOsmallies's topic in Smallmouth Talk
Great job guys. Mitch, that is a really nice follow up to your excellent winter smallmouth fishing presentation. And Al you're right. That is a great spot for sure. i am sure it is the same one i was fishing the day after Christmas. Couldn't help but notice how they cut out the top half of the pic where the craw is in the smallmouth mouth. That boulder behind him would give away that spot for sure. -
I was there and paid the fee to join. I wrote my info on the sheet and hopefully i will get an email soon. .

I had the day off today so i threw the Blazer in at Redhorse and buzzed to one of my favorite winter holes. Beautiful day and the water was perfect and there was a nice breeze. It didn't tale long before i had my first fish on my jerkbait and i ended up getting 12 smallmouth plus 3 spots in about 4 hours of fishing. They were all right around 12"-14" and the biggest was about 15". I missed a really big fish that felt more like a walleye or catfish the way it was shaking it's head and wouldn't move. It ended up just coming off. Guess i didn't get the hook set. I also had this swan hanging around while i fishing. Never seen one on the river before.

if you're gonna try and shoot a big buck at 300 yards you better stick with the 7. if you might be varmit hunting at some point go with the 270. i shoot the 270 and have noticed the deer don't drop as fast as i would like even with a good kill shot. Seems like they can still run a ways before falling dead.

What's Going On In The World Of Crappie Fishing?
Blazerman replied to BHowe's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
I hauled my Blazer down there last weekend to try and get into some crappie but I never was able to get on a consistent pattern. Picked up a few here and there but it was usually one or no fish off a spot. I would pull up to a known brush pile and see a ton of specks on the fish finder sitting in and around the brush and I would drop a jig down and sometimes get hit and most times not. When I did get one a would spend 20-30 minutes over that spot trying to get another one and nothing. I finally switched to throwing a jerkbait and picked up some decent whites and some green bass but ended up letting everything go. But it sure was nice being on the lake in mid-December with it being 60 and 65 degrees. When I took the boat out a Coffman there were two old timers cleaning a nice mess of crappie and I asked them how they got them. They said pulled up to known brush pile and dropped their jigs down. I said that’s what I was doing and the one guy said you using crappie nibblers and I said no. he said gotta have them- makes a huge difference this time of year. I guess maybe he is right. -
Wow talk about no respect. This is how the Las Vegas odds-maker see this game. This is from the Stltoday. Missouri has claimed the Southeastern Conference’s Eastern Division title, has won 10 road games in a row and is headed to the league’s title contest for the second year in a row. But the SEC championship game opening line on Sunday at the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook will have MU as a 14-point underdog to longtime national powerhouse Alabama.
-
It's official. With Ol Miss beating Mississippi, Alabama has already clinched the SEC West even if they lose to Auburn. So it will be Mizzou and Alabama on Saturday afternoon. Gonna be fun to watch for sure and if Mizzou can pull off the upset, what will that do to the playoffs?
-
Hard to say Arkansas was the better team when they didn't score any points in the second half as Missouri took control. On the second touchdown drive in the fourth quarter where all Missouri did was the run the ball you could see how tired the Hog defense was and Mizzou took advantage. Missouri won this game in the second half just like they have done in most of their other wins. Arkansas didn't lose by not switching to the freshman brother. They lost because Mizzou out played them in the second half.
-
Yeah totally agree OTF, I was rooting for Arkansas Saturday so they could become bowl eligible and wouldn't have to play for that against Mizzou. And Mizzou has been through the pressure games before. But the thing that worries me is how Mizzou plays at home versus their play on the road. For whatever reason they seem to be more focused on the road. Maybe there have more distractions when they are at home. If they lose this game maybe Pinkle should have them start staying at a hotel in Jeff city the Friday before home games next year.
-
From STLToday There is no early line on Mizzou-Arkansas, possibly because Razorbacks quarterback Brandon Allen left Saturday's win over Ole Miss with what was described as a soft tissue injury of his hip, according to media reports.
-
Wow after yesterdays games I would not be surprised if Friday's game ended up 6-3 or 10-7. Both defense's look really good. Missouri keeps finding enough offense to win but their special teams could end up costing them. I am really looking forward to Black Friday now and not for shopping.
-
I like seeing them win as well but at the same time I keep thinking how in the hell did they lose to Indianan. I was at that game and could not comprehend how they could look so inept. Without that lost and even with the lost to Georgia, we could have been in the playoff picture. It will still be great to see them win out and get a late December bowl game. But I can’t help thinking what might have been.
-
This team could easily go 3-0 or just as easily 0-3. it is gonna depend on if they can score enough points. Mauk will be the deciding factor and he is not making me feel very confident at all. But they have found ways to win unlike Arkansas which always seems to find ways to lose.

Yeah we caught a bunch on the Meramnec Saturday\Sunday but nothing that big. Think we had five that were between 15" to 18". but we were talking to two guys in a canoe that had already caught an 18.5 and a 20". and he showed me the pics to prove it. all were let go. If was tough fishing and even running the boat on Sunday with all the leafs in the water. Saturday was not as bad. I got most of my best fish on a spinnerbait like usual.

I have not seen that area but farther downstream around Redhorse and the k bridge it was beautiful. Perfect for floating and fishing. My guess would be you will be fine up there. Go far it and report back.
-
I spent most of the day on the Meramec yesterday and i had the whole river to myself. Never saw another soul and the fish were biting too. It was just me and the eagles taking advantage of it. Great day to be fishing. Water was perfect where i was by Redhorse..
-
Thanks. It seems a lot of folks were doing the same things including my partner and me, but didn't get a big bite. Nice job getting a check.

WW What did you get your fish on and what area of the lake were you fishing?

Washington County Creeks & Streams Info: Don't Get Shot!
Blazerman replied to doohickey's topic in General Angling Discussion
The part i don't understand here is how do we know the guy was shooting anywhere near him? Did he see any shots hit anywhere around? I too am deaf in one ear and I can verify you have no clue which direction a noise comes from. For all we know the guy was on his property target shooting at something in the water. Maybe that is not safe but it is his property and he may do it all the time. While he is doing this a dog shows up and then a dude. So now he is mad and lets the guy know about it. I have a hard time blaming him unless we know for sure he was shooting in the direction of the guy. If he was, then he crossed a line. -
I fish the Meramec all the time with shiner minnows and catch plenty of cats and I can tell you a little trick I learned when using them. I always use a trap to get the minnows in the river and sometimes they don’t do real well in the bait bucket. Because of that I ended up using freshly dead minnows and caught a bunch of good size channels on them. I put 2-3 on a hook with a slip sinker and throw it out. I would also throw a big live one out for flatheads. The dead ones will get channels and the live ones can get both channels and flatheads. I actually now let a few die and use them first because they work so well.

I ran down to the river yesterday afternoon when I go off work with the intent to cut grass and grab a few thing for my lake trip next weekend. Grass really didn’t need cutting so I decided to grab the things I needed and get some other stuff organized. But then I got to looking at the river and it is beautiful right now. Low and clear and I decided fishing a little while might be a better idea. So I changed into my wading shorts and shoes and grabbed a rod and some stuff to fish with and headed down to the river. I waded downstream to one of my favorite spots and started throwing some different things. Nothing was working at all until I went to a baby brush hog that I texas rigged with a sliding bullet weight. Once I started using that it was bam, bam, bam, with one smallmouth after another. For the next hour I probably caught 15 out of the one hole. They weren’t huge 10” to 14’ but they sure are feisty. Right as it was getting dark I got a solid hit and set the hook and right away thought this is probably my best fish so far. And then the line broke. After catching all those fish and scraping the line all over the place I should of retied but hadn’t. Especially since I was using 6lb line. You would think I would of learned that lesson long before but guess not. Retie once in a while so you don’t lose a nice fish.
