  1. Yeah, i was at Norfork last weekend and the Thermocline varied a depending on where we were in the lake some places it was at about 20 and others closer to 30. Didnt see any fish below it, most of the bass we saw were just above it a little bit. And the Walleye were in it. On Norfork it was a very distinct line that you could see and definitly feel. I did see a lot of little fry bass up shallow, so i guess to spawn went well. I was Kinda wanting to go up in to Arkansas so i could spearfish on Table Rock because im sure it doesnt get the pressure that Norfork gets. And with the great flat head population i have read about would make some good fixins. Those fish on Norfork here your bubbles and they are gone.
  2. What is the visibility like up in that part of the Lake? Wanting to find some new places to dive away from the Dam area.
  3. I managed to litter my wallet somewhere in buck creek about two weeks ago. Had $150 in cash in it. Sucks for me.
  4. Only trash i throw in the water are Carp and Drums after i catch em
  5. I went out on Norfork Spear fishing, i figured that was my best option with all the rain, The lightning storm from underwater was a little weird but i figured being 30 feet under might be better than being in a metal boat on the surface. it kinda snuck up on us.
  6. I was down there on Saturday caught 1 15 incher on top and missed a couple others and a 16 incher on a jig. The Lillie's sure have gotten thick.
  7. The picture of that big fish looks photo shopped. Or its a world record bass
  8. Gotta watch for the nitro's in the rock
  9. That's the kinda of crap that gives honest giggers an spear fisherman a bad name
  10. great illustration RPS I was going to ask exactly what the "slow death" was I caught my first keeper walleye last weekend on a harness rig with a bottom bouncer. kinda got me hooked
  11. Fuel, Spark, and compression is all an outboard needs. The most important in buying a used engine is compression, the other 2 are not a big deal as long as the engine has compression. The worst thing for an outboard is to sit and not be ran...I have messed with so many outboards and if they sit the carbs are always a little gummy. I actually worked on a friends last weekend and the prob with it was a old metal gas tank that was rusty and clogging up the carb. outboards can be so finicky. I believe a force is pretty easy to get parts for and not real pricey... as long as the compression test good ( all cylinders within 8-10 PSI of each other) it would probably be a great engine. I agree with Brian B, nothing beats a Yamaha they are just smooth reliable power. although we do have a Nissan 18hp that's a 1994 that has more hours on it that we could ever count. it has been the best outboard I have ever messed with. the Japs make a hell of a motor. I think a lot of it is how the previous owners has maintained it just my 2 cents
  12. I caught a few crappie there yesterday. Would have stayed longer but had some battery issues
  13. Are you talking about a Lake Springfield in Illinois, because this board is targeting the one in Missouri. We dont have 25 ft depth, sea walls or docks here.
  14. suprisingly we didnt see very many Bass complared to usual, Las week at Norfork Lake i saw more 5 + pounders than i could count Even some Huge Smallies. Everything we saw was in 20 feet or less. Went down to 40 and it is def a lot clearer and freezing but no life that deep
  15. I saw 2 the whole day diving. Vis wasn't very good. The ones I saw were in 15 feet. I caught a nice keeper this morning in 25 feet in a point with a worm harness
  16. Nice. I shot two with a spear. Tried catching them the old fashioned way and gave up so I had to go under Water for the attach
  17. Nice. I shot two with a spear. Tried catching them the old fashioned way and gave up so I had to go under Water for the attach
  18. It was a tough weekend, saw millions of huge large and smallmouth, nothing under 25 fow. 1 walleye and a few flat heads but it isnt flat head season yet. Water was so clear 35 foot vis. also saw a couple crappie and some red ears that were absolutely enormous
  19. In gonna be in diamond next weekend. I'll be underwater with a spear gun so hopefully ill find a few. I was a Norfork in Arkansas this weekend and only saw one walleye all weekend. Water was almost to clear for spearfishing, they can see ya coming. Anyone know the vis in diamond city or buck creek?
  20. I only gig for suckers. But I a see a far I have no problem killing it so he doesn't eat any of our smallies
  21. I've used both. Got a hummingbird di now, but I have been in friends boats with lowrance. I like the lowrance better. Just my opinion though it just seems easier to use.
  22. I do every type of fishing gigging included. Giggers get a bad rap from the people who do it the wrong way. Hate to see smallie a damaged like that bit at least they are still swimming. I was on Norfork spearfishing this weekend and I have never seen so many smallmouth in my life. They were everywhere. Saw tons of 5+ largemouth too. We were catfish and walleye hunting. But honestly if someone wants to eat a few bass I have no problem with it. As long as they are legal. I bass fish a ton and I always let them go because I have plenty of crappie in the freezer. On a positive not I did see thousands of little bass fry that have just hatched. I understand totally though when you see someone taking illegal fish. Drives me nuts. I usually try to educate them before I am an asshole. But 9 times out of 10 I'm an asshole telling them that they are keeping illegal fish.
  23. Haha Great video. I caught a a turtle on a spook the other day. He just came up and sucked it under. It wasn't a snapper but man they got some claws on them. I got him unhooked some how even though I forgot to being pliers with me
