  1. I would think water temp plays some part as well but is it the main factor or is photo-day the main factor? Up here on a certain lake the walleye will be on the dam spawning the first week of April no matter what the water temp is/has been. I know I have been fishing for them in snow wearing a parka and bibs and also been fishing for them in a t-shirt. On that lake at least for the walleyes; it really seems the time of year is most important.
  2. Like I said I don't know. Call up a fisheries biologist and ask them. Better yet; email them and post their response. If it differs from the biologist up here I will post it and ask him about it. I posted and asked the biologist up here to explain why southern fish spawn earlier. If/when he answers I will post it here as well. It would be nice to get some biologists thoughts on when/why the spawn happens then just us all taking a guess at it.
  3. There is a fisheries biologist here in Nebraska that says the spawn is determined by the photo-day length and not by the temperature. This gets brought up every spring when the people up here always start asking about the walleye spawn due to whatever weather we are having at the time. The biologist every year posts the same thing; they will be spawning the same time every year due to the length of the photo-day. I have no idea as I am not a fisheries biologist but he is; so I will go with what he says.
  4. I ended up booking a room at the town and country motel. They said they have room to park the boat hooked up to the truck and be able to charge the batteries.
  5. Thanks! I will check them out. Edit: called and they don't have room to park the boat by the rooms. I would really like to find a place that I can park the truck and boat right by the room.
  6. I have never been to LOZ but I am considering fishing the Charger Boats owner tourny in April out of the Osage Beach area. I need any help I can get on a place to stay. What all places can a person stay that has room to leave the boat hooked up to the truck and still be able to charge the batteries? I won't leave my boat in a slip over night. Thanks for any help!! Dave
  7. Just got the call back from the COE. This is what I was told. Resorts pay a lease so they can restrict access. Other ramps: if there is a public road to them then they are public. He did say there are places where the people try to make it sound like it is not public when in fact it is. When I asked about parking is where there is a big gray area. I was told that the COE owned distance from the water varies so much that a person would have to call and ask about a specific ramp to know about legal parking at that ramp. The number to call and ask is 501-340-1935.
  8. Would the Schooner Creek ramp be a public ramp then? We stayed in a house right by the ramp and the resort people said we could not use the ramp. Even said we would be willing to pay them and park the truck/trailer at the house so we would not take up any of their parking. They said they could not do that because the COE said if they let one person who was not staying at their resort use the ramp then they would have to let everyone. Sounded like BS but didn't argue because we had no idea the rules for sure. They acted like they owned the ramp. Off to call the COE. Edit: had to leave a message so waiting on a call back.
  9. You need to come up here or go to the Glacial Lakes in South Dakota with me and I will show you how handy those talons are up here. They do look goofy on TR though.
  10. It is always actually windy up here; tying a knot in the breezes they call wind on TR is easy.
  11. +1 that is the knot I use. Easy to tie and is strong.
  12. Idiots that are ignorant about guns, are scared of an inanimate object and then want to infringe on others rights are what form my opinions about liberals and their hurt feelings.
  13. The younger brother is a WAY better man than me evidently. There is no way in hell after he crashed the car that he gets out of that car alive. If I had to sharpen a stick into a spear to do the job it would have been done somehow someway. Too bad the car didn't catch fire and the scum burned to death begging for help.
  14. Those are dandy's Thumbs!! A striper is definitely on my wish list.
  15. How in the heck did a thread as simple as this one turn into such a crap fest??!! Are people really that jealous of what others have they have to crap in a thread for no reason?
  16. I love coming to TR and not have to deal with grass!! If any of you want to fish grass come on up. I will take you to some ponds and you can fish grass to your hearts content.
  17. Happy Birthday Bill!!
  18. I am not Champ and this bass was 'only' 9lb 7oz. It dang sure went back in the water as soon as I got a weight and some measurements for a replica mount. Pretty darn sure it will be the biggest bass I ever catch; yet there was no way in heck I was gonna kill it!
  19. It could be if a person hadn't already been told exactly what something was and then turned around and said it was something else.
  20. When a person knowingly misrepresents something what else would it be
  21. He needs to be reported to craigslist for fraud. That is NOT a missouri craw and he knows it!
  22. You need to tell Michele there is plenty of room; but don't tell her she needs more rods!! She keeps saying I don't give her enough room in the boat and she needs her own boat. I thought one compartment in back deck and whatever rods she can fit beside passenger seat is plenty of room! For some reason she always drags along a bag full of tackle too.
  23. There is 22 in the pic but have another one I just bought that is going in the boat; so will have 23. Still have aways to go to catch dtrs5kprs; unless you count whatever rods the wife drags along Have a couple old IMX's that I just use when pond fishing. Wife has 10 or so of her own as well. Took some time to get them all. No way we could have got them all at once. If there was an 'AA' for fishing stuff I admit that I should go!
