  1. Looks like the COE generation charts are back up, still not recording correct DO and Temp for Table Rock yet. F2F
  2. I cast toward logs, rocks or anything that would hold fish and first cast I strip back fairly fast over the top, if no strikes I strip, pause, strip, pause letting it drift by. Usually fishing in water less than 3 feet deep. The zonkers I use have lead in the mylar body so they do sink quickly. Tan, brown, and white primary colors I use. I haven't tried the PMS flies that I use on trout but they should work just as well F2F
  3. The Barron Fork that parallels the Illinois before they merge together has a lot less floaters and I think a better population of smallmouth. Start at the Welling bridge and you can go either up or down stream. I use zonkers in white or tan and still catch the perch and largemouth as well. Haven't tried any PMS that I tied yet but they should work the same especially the brown ones. Middle Spavinaw between Eucha dam and and the beginning of Spavinaw lake is OK you can pretty much wade almost all of it. F2F
  4. What about that well known author, whats his name, that wrote "Dragonflies on My Rod Tip" I think is the name of the book. He does some fishing once in a while too, is he going to be there? F2F
  5. Come on man you got to get over your fear of beaver, they aren't going to hurt you and they have antibiotics for most things you can catch from nasty ones There was an article I read about 'beaver fever' a guy caught in Colorado that almost killed him. F2F
  6. You can use the generation link in the Beaver Lake section, it is correct and gives tailwater info. F2F
  7. I fished Friday night around and above outlet 1 with a 1/8 ounce jig and caught 13, 10 on white and 3 on a black/purple egg sucking something pine squirrel I guess (looked like what Leonard had on the flyrod he showed me before I started). All came just letting the jig bounce and roll on the bottom with the current. The white jigs I did not paint the heads but I will take a small finger nail file and put a flat spot on the sides that really shine when light hits it just right. Friday night there was barely enough water to get a good bounce going sometimes it would just sit and I had to jig it a bit to get it going 704 not good, 705 and above better. F2F
  8. With yesterdays first full day of generation at Beaver, Table Rock only rose about .25" while Beaver dropped 6". I think, without any sigificant rain we will see the same 4000 cfs average from TR 24/7 for a few weeks. Anyone know what the bottom level they are looking for at TR until they go back to the on/off cycle? F2F
  9. The last time I fished it was below the Welling bridge access, waded downstream for about a 1/2 mile or so caught both smallmouth and largemouth on the flyrod using crawdad type flys and also on the plastic baits with a regular hook without the jigheads that came with them. If you need weight use the small split shots that you use for flys. F2F
  10. I was in Cabelas in Ft. Worth yesterday and checked and the .22-250 ammo was about the same as .223 and they also had it in 65gr. So I have decided that I will go with the .22-250 first. With barrels running around $150 if it doesn't work out I will get something else maybe .243 or .25-06, I have the .30-06 barrel. Thanks for the feedback, knew there was a lot of gun knowledge on here. F2F
  11. I am going to add a varmint barrel to my Optima Elite and was trying to decide between a .22-250 or .223. I know you can buy 100 rounds of .223 for about the same price as 40 rounds of .22-250. They both come in 45 grain JHP or the 50 grain FMJ. Its hard to beat the ballistics of the .22-250 at longer ranges but at 250 yards is it going to make that much difference to a coyote? F2F
  12. I think we need to stop and look at the big picture for each river and stream large or small. For each stream there are miles and miles of spawning areas that are inaccessible except for floaters. All we see most of the times is people crowded at the access areas fishing a few hundred yards of that stream catching only fish in that area whether spawning or not, which is only a small fraction of the spawning fish in that particular stream. I sure after the first low water spell or flood the fish in the rest of the stream will disperse back into these areas again. F2F
  13. I was planning on coming this year, but got Cotton Bowl tickets for Jan. 2 instead. We will be going down there on the 1st. I do plan on coming up there sometime between Christmas and New Years though. Leonard hope you can get out and play one of those nights. Later F2F
  14. THATS WHY I HAVEN'T MADE IT UP THERE THIS MONTH. DEER HUNTING AND CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS. OH, I WAS IN TOWN FOR 2 HOURS LAST FRIDAY QUICKEST TRIP WE EVER MADE TO BRANSON AND BACK TO OKLAHOMA. F2F
  15. I have no problem of people keeping any legal fish caught by any legal means. What gets under my skin is seeing people bait fishing releasing fish that go belly up as soon as they hit the water. One day I was at Phils place getting ready to go out with Thom and was waiting on Leonard to show up when a guy started using power bait and caught a rainbow within about 2 minutes and ask to borrow my hemostats and I let him only to see him rip the hook out of its gut and throw it back and start fishing again. In the next 15 minutes or so he caught 3 more only to kill and release, no telling how many more fish died after we left. I know it probably wasn't as many as a heron would eat in a day (I think we've been down this road before). My question is why fish a method, with no intentions of keeping the fish, that is going to kill it the majority of the time. F2F
  16. I think if smallmouths were stocked in Taney they would eventually find their way into one of the creeks that feed into Taney and spend most of their time there, maybe venturing out into the lower section if the creek temps get to high in the summer.
  17. Congrats from me also, a 20 incher thats a keeper for sure. Now you will have a reason to fish more nights .... to get more rest! F2F
  18. Saw this on another web site some of the comments were "gross", "inhumane", "disgusting". Don't know if it is raw or has been deep fried except for the head. http://theokieangler.com/category/video/
  19. Taney has already been getting ready for it generating 24/7 for the last several weeks between 7,000-10,000cfs, it is down to bottom of flood pool and can handle the inflow from Beaver with continued generation without raising TR level. F2F
  20. No, since I am coming up Friday night thru Sunday it will still be 24/7 . Looks like I still won't have a chance to really cast the new 6wt launch, better check my jig supply. F2F
  21. Duane, I thought using live trout was prohibited F2F
  22. I don't know I think I can take him with an 8wt and a streamer. F2F
  23. I have already caught a couple dozen trout on it on 2 night trips on Taney. F2F
  24. Did they shut the gates or close down some turbines? The output wattage dropped from 180 down to 115 and the DO went way up. Maybe they shut down some units before they closed the gates. The gates were only adding a little over a foot to the tailwater level anyway. F2F
  25. OK go to the top of the home page and click on Lilleys tacklestore.com, then jigs, Keeneys jigs and look at the PMS jigs, olive, black etc. F2F
