  1. Because Johnny sells them.
  2. They are actually pretty long, just skinny. That's a pic from the 2017 flood.
  3. Well, Bill told me he always caught those fish on a blade or a jig. But they'd be so full of those worms they'd literally be coming out their gills. That was 2011, when we were helping Leon move the dock, and watching Ish dry all his tackle.
  4. Going down to the ramp after a bit to look for the little worms Bill Beck always talked about with these rains. When they come out, the largemouth go nuts on them.
  5. They usually go stick their noses in the flow. Depends on how much it shocks them, though. Sometimes takes a day or two to settle. Be nice if it stays below 920 😬.
  6. Back end of the Schooner resort cove.
  7. Right. Hunters extending a season.
  8. Seemingly.
  9. The brown fish that are up are ready, but I haven't seen any stripped like those. Or rubbed much. I will say there are good fish in less water than Mr. B likes to float in.
  10. I've not had trouble with any of them, after getting used to the UFO like quality of the lights and boats those first few years. Of course I don't night fish much. They asked where to go to find carp here. Was at a loss. Haven't seen any in two days. Before all the rain, I'd have thought Bull would be better, with the bushes.
  11. He lives close enough to me that we could...address the problem. We may need to convene a Schooner Creek and Beardsley mafia summit.
  12. It's moist. And it looks like Oklahoma is sending free electricity, just have to go outside and catch it.
  13. Bingo.
  14. Threw a Bull Shad wake bait, couple of glide baits for a fair bit today. I feel this.
  15. Hate to even bring it up, but some pretty good dudes from TX just pulled into the room next to mine, with a jet boat bigger than my Excursion. It's like something out of Swamp People. Apparently there is some sort of three lake bowfishing deal going on. Said Table Rock, Bull, and Truman are the lakes they can be on. Of course I suggested Truman and Bull would have the best clarity, and biggest carp.
  16. Right on. I love my barge, but I could see going that route eventually. Better ride in the ever increasing number of wakes, too. Who runs a pleasure boat up and down Schooner Creek blaring gangster rap on a Monday afternoon?
  17. Gentleman in Des Moines who more or less taught me to fish did a couple shows with Jimmy. Called him Old Jimmy Jump Back. John had some interesting stories. Make of it what you will. Saw Jimmy at a show in the 80s in Iowa have what today would be an instant cancellation moment. Both hoo and boy 😬.
  18. Good for you T. How was the new boat?

  20. Cool. St Croix builds a really nice, durable stick. Have many of them.
  21. More like a Chinook.
  22. I don't mind guys doing what they like. But to inflict it on a co-angler...bit different.
  23. 43oz? Goodness. Are you supposed to throw it on a chunk of rebar?
  24. Yep. If the Suk Bugs aren't Elaztech, they're it's very close cousin. Definitely not plastisol. I'm just not sure the difference in shape matters. There are a few other stretchy baits out there, mostly JDM stuff. Megabass made several styles for a while, but they're apparently discontinued. I have a little stash of those. Same stretch as Elaztech, with some clearer colors. And somehow MB managed to scent it. Downside other than $$$, a lot of the JDM colors and designs are...odd.
