  1. Many thanks. I'll let you know how it turns out.
  2. That looks good. Is there a link to the recipe?
  3. May have to try this or a close facsimile. I've been using a Leite's Culinaria recipe that has kicked out tasty but rather flat loafs. I just popped a 4-2-1-1 loaf out of the oven, and it's a lot better than the Leite's no-knead recipe as it produced a nice, high loaf. The bread got rave reviews from my wife, but it doesn't have a lot of taste IMO. Maybe adding some beer would help.
  4. You are an inspiration. Having said that, I'm soooo glad you're not closer. My wife would kill me, and it wouldn't be quick.
  5. Well, in full disclosure, I don't own it. I saw it at a local fly-in and thought it would make an interesting topic. I talked to the owner a bit, and my wife wrote an article for the local paper. While it will take off and land on land, it will also do the same from water. You tow it to a launch ramp, set it up and drop it in the lake. I can see that tying up the ramp for a long, long time... The guy who owns it takes folks for hour-long rides over Truman Lake and in the area. I may go up with him at some point, and if I do, you'll get some pictures.
  6. I have a pair of jerky rowlocks designed for a driftboat or any boat that puts a lot of strain on the equipment. I think I can ship these to your door for $10, so $30 would be nice. The $5 bill is for scale and not part of the package.
  7. Thinking about dropping a dime or two on a new-to-me boat. I figure I can drive to the lake and cruise around until I find fish . Plan on asking Wrench's advice on adding a livewell and casting deck... What do you think?
  8. No, but then I've not trout fished in Missouri. I'm fairly confident they'd work on bluegills, but then just about everything works on bluegills.
  9. One of my faves when I was fishing in the Cowlitz River and elsewhere in Washington was about as simple as it gets-- #10 or 12 3399A hook, wrap the shank in lead wire, then take three or four peacock herls. Tie them in at the bend, leaving a long tag of black thread hanging. Twist the herls together and wrap forward. Tie off and then wrap the tag end of thread forward to reinforce the body. Form a small head and tie it off. That was deadly...
  10. That was interesting. The tournament was won by Hunter Baughman from Judsonia, Ark. Winning weight was 48-10. What is amazing is the man-- he has no legs and only one hand--and that with only three fingers. Watched him fish on the water a bit, and he had the process down, but of course, he would considering that he is a full-time pro. If you want more info on Hunter, he's on facebook. Second place was Brad Jelinek from Lincoln with 47-0. Got to ride in Gator Trax aluminum hull power by a 325...very impressive boat with a ride that rivaled glass hulls.
  11. No hurry; the oars are sold pending pickup. Am adding the drift boat rowlocks at $40. Super strong and built to be locked into the oarlocks. The $5 is for scale only...of course.
  12. I'm going to cover the tournament for the Clinton paper and may spin off ideas to another market. I'd like to talk to a local fisherman who will be competing. Ideally, the person would be a resident of Henry County, but Benton County would work. Appreciate any help.
  13. When I shot these fuzzy images, I wan't surprised to find that I paid $55 each for 'em. Before I could finish rigging my old Alumaweld, I picked up a center console and shifted directions. The battered oar you might see in the first photo is NOT one of the pair for sale; it was a floater I picked up in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
  14. I have a pair of 8-foot Caviness oars that I bought for my old Alumaweld Stryker. They are unused, a bit dusty and dirty from moving house a couple of times, but they are unscathed. They are bare bones, set to rig as you wish. I'd like $25 for the pair ( I think I paid well over $100 for them, but that was a while ago). You can pick 'em up in Clinton or in Warsaw or Lincoln by arrangement. I will not ship...or even check out the shipping charges.
  15. I'll throw my two cents into this: First, once you get better, get a new pair of shoes. In my experience, nothing screws up posture (and pain from bad posture) in older folks than standing or walking lopsided. Sometimes just a little bit off will have a significant effect--like a pinched nerve or bad back. You can go back to your favorite shoes later, but for the short term, wear new. And if you carry a wallet in your hip pocket--stop it! Bad dog! Same statements apply. As for chiropractors, the only experience I have is observing my dad go back and forth to 'em. He always had back trouble, probably from standing watch on steel decks in the Navy during two wars, but he never seemed to get a permanent fix from his visits. Get well soon, bud.
  16. Thanks, Wrench. Did some looking after I posted this morning, and now I'm wondering if it wouldn't be cheaper to buy a used motor to replace the one without T&T. I need to get my old boat to you so that I (meaning you) can get it ready to sell.
  17. So another question-- how hard (read that expensive) would it be to add a trim unit to a 28 or 48?
  18. Well, HL got some of my money today. I'm glad the store isn't closer...
  19. Thanks! That makes things a LOT easier.
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong--I love the site for this-- I've seen quite a few older Evinrudes that end in an 8, as is 48 or 58. I'm thinking that these are base models--like the 48 would normally be a 50 hp, but it lacks trim and tilt and maybe something else. Is that correct? Since T&T is important where I'll be doing a lot of my fishing, I would like to know. Thanks in advance.
  21. Ow! That sucks; I hope you all heal fast and well. Once you get there, pay attention to what the physical therapists tell you and follow the directions for doing the exercises at home. The more therapy you do, the better life will be after you return to "normal".
  22. Perfect. Thanks! Heading to HL Thursday...Love the flies.
  23. I looked up the yarn online, but as for the tail...is it just an extension of the yarn or apiece of synthetic fur? And, Wrench, I need to get my old boat to you for some pre-sale work...gotta unload it or at least start the process.
  24. Thanks...will have to make a run to HL at some point soon.
  25. So, what is the material list? It looks like a killer...
