    What's Cooking?

My grandson was in the house this summer and after I took him on a bike ride and puked him (not me-!) he was in the fridge looking for something to drink and got out the nearly empty jar of spicy bread and butter pickles. Drank the juice right on down and gave it his blessing in a good south Arkansas accent as "some good drinkin' right there".

    What's Cooking?

I'm braising short ribs, onions, carrots and celery in red wine tomorrow. To be served over mashed red potatoes with some asparagus on the side.

    What's Cooking?

Make crappie chowder. You can thank me later.
  9. It's probably just me but I prefer XX Amber to either Newcastle or Modelo Negro. But after all give me a good German or Dutch brown beer and I will probably like it. Or a Porter or anything brown and malty.

Oh yeah food. Chili melding now to be accompanied by grilled cheese sandwich. Having trouble deciding between pepper jack or gouda. Dang it.

    What's Cooking?

I had that crud for three weeks. Finally gave it to lovie who only had it for two. But she was a way better chill person than me - had to take steaming hot bath in the middle of the night with me to put in the smelly salts and dry her off. And they say women are tough. We're finally well again. That crap was no fun. Many naps involved. Zyrtec now is it for us Thankfully

    What's Cooking?

Hillbilly huevos ranchera if you do over easy eggs on top of hashbrowns, and then chili and then some melted cheese and then some hot sauce of your liking.

    What's Cooking?

Right now there is a six pack of venison burgers sweating it out on the grill. For tomorrow. George Birthington's Washday on Taneycomo is a real tradition with me. Tomorrow I'll be there with my main football watching and all around buddy and his dad who is also a great friend. I'll be missing another one who I used to go with all the time. I'll probably take along some deli brown mustard and a few cans of Coors. Don't hate me because I'm pretty.
  17. You should also try the Schlafly Kolsch then. It's good beer too. Oops. Somebody beat me to it. Still good suggestions though.

    What's Cooking?

Going all out tonight. Grilling hamburger patties, fresh cut French fried potatoes and a small portion of green salad. Feels a lot like spring and I am finally feeling mostly normal after a good three weeks of the crud that would not leave. Bourbon neat to help with that mostly normal feeling.
  19. I am far from a sonar expert but really like my Lowrance that is a chirp unit. Lots of detail.
  20. I heard it was a pretty nasty day. Glad the fishing made it worthwhile.
  21. Good job.

    What's Cooking?

    ^^ WOW!
  24. Truman is similar construction to Oroville dam. The White River dams are reinforced concrete tied into native rock with massive regular spillway capacity not to mention the emergency spillways. Not remotely likely for a similar deal here. Flooding yes. Dam failure no, barring massive earthquake or a nuclear attack with a direct hit.

    What's Cooking?

Chicken and rice soup. Four hindquarters, a couple big sprigs ot thyme and same rosemary, medium red onion, maybe 1/4 c chopped Italian parsley and probably twice that of celery tops, some salt and some Cajun seasoning and the bag of spices from a box of Uncle Bens long grain and wild rice are simmering in the stock pot right now. Will debone the chicken after it cooks for a couple of hours and add the box of rice and some carrots. Easy peasy.
