  1. Sunday it was from 45-47 around mutton
  2. I'm thinking pretty hard about it right now , how hard is the Arkansas river to navigate ?
  3. I've fished a lot of tournaments. Probably close to a hundred by now. I'm only 28 yrs old. I have never ever spent 500 dollars in gas and food at a local tournament. I could see it if your driving from KC or STL. Hell I went to Kentuckey lake two years ago for the regional. With food gas and lodging it set me back about 700 bucks. Not sure where you guys are getting these figures. Sure it takes you 350 bucks to fill the boat and truck with gas. But do you burn 50 gallons in a day ?
  4. Def. takes some practice. But they are under there for sure
  5. My biggest was a six pounder when the water was up. Pitching to flooded bushes in the early spring. I wouldn't doubt that there are some big bass in the lake. This was about 10 years ago when I was still in highschool. Used to skip school and go fishing at fellows quite abit. Haven't been on the lake in probably 8 years.
  6. Yeah, these fish were all accidents. I love chasing the green and brown fish too much.
  7. The others I have caught have been good fish I guess? about 38-40 inches
  8. I have seen one in there that was easily 50". Not sure what the lake record is. This fish camp up beside the boat trying to get a spinner bait. He got it.... was so big there was no hope in landing this fish without a steel leader. Kinda freaky being in a 12 foot john lol.
  9. They are in Fellows. I've caught three out of it all while bass fishing. Had many many more follow lures, mostly spinner baits. I know nothing about muskie, but if i were going to fish for them. It would be winter and have a huge jerkbait on. JMO
  10. I had the same problem at Stockton a couple of years ago. Figured out that speed was key in the hook up ratio. The faster I reeled the buzzbait the better the hook up ratio. My theory is they were getting too good of a look at it at the last second. Turning away and getting hooked in the outside of the mouth . Anyhow, the faster I brought it the better they ate it.
  11. Not sure about it hurting you. But if im in water less than 5 feet deep I turn my electronics off. There is def. an clicking noise they can hear.
  12. I have never let them ruin my day. One of the best days I have ever had was at Table Rock in July. With boats running all over the place. I was right down by the dam. I just put that stuff in the back of my mind. I really don't have a problem with them. The only thing that is a bit scary is when pulling a skier or a tuber and they're not pay attention to whats going on around them. I have had a good number of them cut me off with kid in tow. I usually just shut down and let them do there thing until they realize they have cut me off. But it really helps knowing how to run in big water. I could see a guy who spears wave after wave being pissed. I run an 18 ft 188vs ranger and have never been swamped or speared a wave bad enough to mess anything up. I have also been on Kentucky Lake when there is a 25=30 mph south wind in that boat. If I can handle that, then these boat waves are really not an issue IMO
  13. sounds like the same pattern you fished . Deep Brush. I went shallow all day and had a great day. Believe me or not but we caught about 30-35 keepers. Had 15 keepers before 7:30. But those fish are all the same size about 2 pounders. We were lucky enough to get two fish over three in about 2 ft of water. We ended up with 13.40 good enough for 13th for a nice little paycheck.

    Squatters

Buy a bigger trap, I hear they prefer cat food.....
  15. There was actually two caught, I fished that tournament on saturday. One was 7.32 other was 7.31. They were nice fish for sure.
  16. I've done very well out there bass fishing, but the water needs to be low so you can walk the bank. It's a very sketchy area. I once found a handgun with no serial number. A safe, like you would see in the old west . Looked like it had been blown open , and a homeless camp. That's why people don't go out there. But there are some monster fish in it. You can only walk up river from the bridge. The dam area is off limits.
  17. Stick to your plan, the rain and cooler temps have cooled the backs of coves a couple of degrees. This fish are starting to chase bait pretty good. The cool temps haven't affected deeper water so be sure and stay shallow! I was there today and had a decent day. All on top water.
  18. Maybe you shouldn't run your jet boat when there is only one little chute open. Wait for me and my PADDLE to move through the rapid. It cracks my up how cool these guys with there 40 horse jets are. So your saying , when I hear the jet heading my way, to get out of the canoe start to drag it across this little "chute", while your going balls out in 5 inches of water. That makes perfect sense. See a group of people scrambling to run through a river just because the water is too low for you to come off pad. Thats is unrealistic IMO. My favorite run in with local jet boat guy happend a couple weeks ago on the eleven point river. There is spot where the current sweeps you into a root wad. Jet boat guy parks his boats in the eddie where you have to take the current and indefinatly flip. This being jet boat guys main objective, and his weekend entertainment, and possibly a lucrative buisness picking up what others loose. Me being the guy I am, with all my gear for a two day float crashes into your blazer, doesn't flip anything besides the bird.
  19. I got into the white bass at the mouth of Googer Creek yesterday. The wind was blowing at a good pace. I was throwing a spinnerbait and had 15 big whites on 15 casts. Caught probably 40 of them in about 30 minutes. Really fun, just not the kind of bass I was after. Look on main lake wind blown points. These fish were in about 2 ft of water.

  22. Just a fantastic post. Glad I found it, really made the last hour of work go by fast today. Thanks!
  23. 899c w/ down and side scan is what i bought this summer. The unit is awesome. The clarity and detail of the graphs are great. Not sure why you would need the biggest one out there. This unit does just fine. The only thing you will have to buy is a navionics/ lake master card for your maps.
  24. This is how I run it, The green dots represent trees. The yellow is the path I choose. I side scanned that whole flat, and didn't see anything, but you never know. I have ran the channel along the bluff, but there is one spot that is tricky over there. Where the channel leaves the bluff for about 50 yards. I have hit there before. Also in front of point nine there is a huge stump out off that point that has got me before too.
