  1. I think that's where the song "There'll Never Be Another Ewe" came from.
  2. That's what I knew as the Graveyard Hole. There's an old family cemetery on the path to the creek bend. Back in the early '80s you could camp there, so a buddy & I spent the night on the gravel bar up from the bend. It was a decent night for March, the overnight warmth melting off the remnants of several inches of snow from the week before. We set up our chaise lounges & sleeping bags next to the fire, and I left my cheap hiking boots by the fire to hoping they'd dry out. When we woke at first light we found the creek had risen up under our lawn lounges as well as putting the fire out. I could reach my boots from the chair, but found that a log had rolled off the fire before the water rose and melted shut the toes of both boots. Live & learn..
  3. That's all of them I'm aware of. I think the dollar hole became the $2 hole before it closed. Been so long since I went to any of them I wouldn't be surprised if they were all closed now. Saw plenty of willful rudeness and privilege abuse back when I ran the shoreline. Will never forget seeing some dude chasing a sheep across the frosty pasture at the 50 cent one moonlit February night.
  4. I'b glad I spelled sub last week, by head's so plugged up frub polled allergies this week I couldn't spell bonkey poop if you stuffed it up by dose. A double dose of Zyrtec just barely makes it tolerable. Ca't eved stad riding aroud wid the widow dowd. Sniff... Honk.
  5. That's the Graveyard Hole. 50 cent is a few miles further down, but it's hasn't been 50 cents for years. At 1120', the "lake" (impounded water) ends just above 50 cent. $2 hole's on the White.
  6. Au contraire; " (3) Seasons: Throughout the year, except that from February 20 through April 14 walleye and sauger may be taken and possessed only between one-half (1/2) hour before sunrise to one-half (1/2) hour after sunset in the Swan Creek Arm of Bull Shoals Lake above Highway 160 and in the unimpounded portions of all streams except the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Walleye and sauger may not be possessed on waters or banks thereof during closed seasons or closed hours
  7. In the spirit of your request, I almost made the error of posting "I'll be thinking of your wife's a**". I decided that since laughter is good medicine I'd share that with you anyway, but my heart's really in the right place. Best Wishes.
  8. Dang! That's a big knife!
  9. True that. Nature woke up here last Friday. Buds on lots of trees and the pear trees blooming. Like you flipped a switch. Those green patches you mentioned are starting. I don't do well where I'm at now in March, but 25 yrs and another county ago I scored well early. I'd go back there but it's pointless... can't beat the locals to 'em.
  10. ...had the window down and passed one of my spots today and I swear I smelled 'em. Got out and walked a stretch and it suddenly got real quiet... and I could hear 'em rustling the leaves... next several days wet & in the 60s. 'Nuff said.

    What's Cooking?

    Either that's a mighty big fork or a mighty small breakfast.
  12. KXNEVER :-) The '08 series was several years before audio broadcasts on radio became common
  13. HB! I like your play on "old and in the way". One of my favorites.
  14. That's him. Have you seen him lately?
  15. Way before the Ned I regularly bumped into a guy from Berryville that soaked his teeny little homemade soft plastics on teeny little jigs for 10-15 minutes a cast and did real well. While I fished big livebait and Rouges, he often outdid me in numbers, but some of my fish could eat most of his. To be fair, he fished in the day while I went at night.
  16. Zingo! idea for a new thread. it would be a fundraiser of sorts. Who wants to chip in for a room and show tickets to Yakof Smirnoff for Wrench and Chief? I'm in for $20 I originally thought Dolly Parton, but you Yakovs need some new material.
  17. Two things that stuck with me ever since I was a skinny Missouri farmboy; 1. Houses are for people, barns are for critters, 2. You don't mess with critters of any type that you don't intend to eat. (With the lone exception of when they are a threat to you or what you intend to eat). For a long time, I didn't have to worry about overkill... I wasn't that good. But I enjoyed it so much I got better. Now I just fish for a mess and call it a day. When I catch something I don't want to eat (like a bass or gar) I let 'em go, It ain't about the fight, or proving I'm smarter than a fish. It's dinner.
  18. ... live a little longer.
  19. 6.5 oz yellow bullhead. Had to move to Arkansas to catch some big fish...:-)
  20. Happy Birthday Mr. B.! I thoroughly enjoy all your reports, and I don't even give a hoot about bass. That's sayin' somethin'. :-)
  21. I ain't skeered of no ghosts. The odds that we (you all and I, collectively) will ever encounter any of the things some of you little girls are wettin' your panties over are longer than Powerball. Each of us will continue living our remaining time on the same basic trajectory as it's brought us so far, and hopefully with enough momentum to live long and prosper. We'll never encounter a terrorist, live under facism or socialism, lose our guns, or spontaneously combust 'cause it's just too darn hot out. I'm sorry I helped eff up the planet, I had lots of help. I refuse to spend my remaining days afraid of something that won't happen to me. Too much fun out there that ain't been had yet. Party on, Garth!
  22. Gold has hung in there pretty well, but the more common metals have been consistently falling for over a year;
  23. Way too many people identify as hillbillies these days. I'm moving to town.
  24. The longer they're left alone, the sillier they look. Heck, when they arrived they looked like they all just finished a modeling gig for Eddie Bauer. Now they're being showered with daily fedex deliveries from their fans;
  25. Not at all. More than half the stripers I've caught from Beaver came from areas less than 7-8' deep, and were a lonnggg ways from 20' or deeper water. Just don't expect to sneak up on those fish in a boat. You've either got to tie up and wait for them to come in, or be on the bank. It has nothing to do with the spawn and everything to do with the shad.
