  1. Nice, the EHC has always been a good producer for me.
  2. They were mid priced rods available from Orvis. Good blanks, moderate actions, utility hardware. There was a rumor that the blanks were first line, but I don't know if that is true. Orvis tips do a good job of protecting light tippets. I have a 10 1/2' 6 wt and a 9' 8wt. I haven't used the 6 in years, but I use the 8 fairly often.
  3. I just couldn't get excited about a best of 2? Did you ever wonder who would have one a third game? I can think of one other time it happened and the team that won the first game lost the second then? Maybe it's because the winner can't change, they won, but the loser has to because they know what doesn't work.
  4. I agree F & F, they take themselves too seriously sometimes. I think putting the national game off is BS also, it should be on New Years night and the other bowls should schedule accordingly. The BCS has evolved into another questionable organization and has pretty much left the arena. The national championship game should NEVER be between two teams who have already met in the season. The polls could use some common sense also in my opinion. The coach's poll is the worst, but not far from the writers in ignorance. Does anyone think a major college coach has time to evaluate all the teams in the country in 2 days?
  5. The A&M/OK will match two outstanding QB's. The only drawback for me is that they haven't been separated by conference that long. As far as rivals go apparently the OU/NU will resume in the future, but not until '21, I believe? As far as NIU, another team who practices for 1 or 2 games and then beats a good team in their only challenge of the year. I'm not really sure if Iowa and KU rank as even 1 or 2 games,
  6. He was 68 and 24 at Wisconsin in a quality conference. He could be a good one now that he's next door to Texas, the supermarket of football recruits.
  7. I think it has to get cold long enough to freeze over. Ducks don't care if it gets cold, but they do love water to swim in.
  8. I didn't think NIU really deserved it. The only two teams they played that play in the big leagues were Iowa and Kansas, they beat Kansas, but who didn't. OK on the other hand gave KSU a win and loss to ND, the number one team in the country.
  9. The last pass was to the end zone, but it was tipped. The guy who caught the tip should have dropped it. I'm not a ND fan by any stretch, but without prejudice the fact is ND doesn't put points on the board and 'Bama does. Bama has to be the pick.
  10. If you're going to target flatheads I would stick with perch.
  11. Yup, deep still holes and for me it seems that some wood helps. Jerkbaits have always been my go too.
  12. The thing about non-lethal is that it applies to everyone. In a dark house it's impossible to be certain about the location of everyone who belongs there. A non- leathal shot lets you put things in perspective. A burglary isn't always meant to harm. We do share the planet with idiots.
  13. Don't hear much about blues, but the Flathead population is above average, IMO.
  14. Doubles are generally cheaper and more likely available with a double trigger. O/U's break with a sharper angle and that can be a drawback under some conditions. You don't indicate what would use it for so it's hard to come up with a good comparison.
  15. I think a pump with 2 rock salts backed by light loaded OO's would be my ideals.
  16. I used to can rough fish and salmon. I smoked them for about 30 minutes with as little heat as possible. Carp and buffalo are very good smoked and canned. Use them like canned salmon and they end up very similar.
  17. I think back in the lake to recycle the leftovers is the way to go. They won't last long or smell up the shore or local trash receptacles.
  18. Is that the going price now? They were much higher on E-Bay.
  19. In the picture I see it is right of center, about where it would be given the slight delay in the game camera to avoid false shots.
  20. I agree. I suspect the pressure got to the cats and they thought they had a bye week.
  21. I don't see the fake. I see nothing in the picture that is in focus, as is often the case with trail cameras. There's also the almost perfect flash intensity on the cat that would be hard to duplicate. I agree with Justin, what would be the point of faking it? It isn't exactly something unbelievable or even rare anymore. Again, few if any game management agencies are able to manage cougars, the US deer population has exploded, so you add little to no predation and lots of food and you get lots of cats. Add in the fact that male cats must find a territory of their own and you have a spreading population of cougars. This has been going on in the west for over a decade and the males are running out of room there.
  22. This debate makes no sense to me. It's obvious that there is what appears to be a light. There is also some dark object not likely to be seen in the woods and something the cat is walking away from, bait maybe, right behind it. I suppose the thinking is that a cat would never come close to civilization, but since we have taken it to them they don't seem to have any great fear of it. The cat tracks on my property in OR were about 50' from the house and passed between a shop and a horse barn, not really wilderness. We lived on the high desert and rainfall was scarce so tracks were also. The cats could have passed a lot more often then I knew.
  23. For me jerk baits have been the best producer. My present favorite is the X Rap. I use a braid for them for two reasons, they jerk better without the stretch and the take is often a slight tic while the bait is at rest and you'll miss that more often then not with a mono. Don't over think the spring water, it's still cold water.
  24. I'm saying if it was the only one then it would be easy to make mankind healthy. Smoking isn't the only cause of lung cancer and heart problems.
  25. I lived in their territory for 13 years. saw tracks twice, after a rain, but never a cat. They like venison and s long as there's an abundance of them in the Ozarks they will most likely go unnoticed.
