  1. You might reverse the Craigslist and advertise your interest.
  2. The 147 is a stable canoe, but they are heavy. I've fish out of the front of a couple and they're tight. Fishnwrench could fill you in, he has a lot of experience in the 147.
  3. Hey you were a pretty good lookin' little guy, what happened?
  4. Amp I'm familiar with the ramp at Fellows, and if we're indeed talking about 3-4' waves I don't think your ideas or mine would work. I suspect that nothing short of wading would work. I do have say that I've seen 4' waves on Guerrero in Mexico once and on Texoma once, but never in Missouri? I'm not saying your way won't work, but with a cross wind and 12-18" waves one can drive on. The big problem isn't the waves as much as it is the wind blowing the boat, IMHO.
  5. Done it a hundred times. The key is to use the gear shift and keep the throttle consistent. It takes some practice, but it will work.
  6. The best way to get on a trailer with a cross wind is to use Kentucky windage. Approach the trailer a little upwind and with a little momentum you pull it in and out of gear as you approach, If your line looks good, If the line is right put it back into gear and drive it on. If the line is bad, hit reverse and back away. You can get better control, in my opinion, by putting it in and out of gear then with the throttle.
  7. Like all things, it depends. Its used a lot on AL drift boats in the northwest. It is however not as common now as in the past, most now use UHMW plates. Two coats should last 2-3 years here, at least that's my guess. I put it on a 10' Jon many years ago and most of it is still there, but it doesn't see a lot of bottom sliding.
  8. That would leave None-A-Day open for me, so that would work.
  9. There is too close, but there is also too slow. I know there is a mentality to slow down when passing an anchored boat, but when you take a boat from a plane to a draft you create big waves. Taney is a good example, its often better for a boat to stay on plane and give as much berth as possible than to come by close but slower. I was fishing below the dam several years ago and a couple of guys in a bass boat would drift the center and then run north bank out about 25'. You had to pull your line out of the water and let them pass.
  10. They do alright in both places. Its muddy right now though, but it should clear pretty quick.
  11. BPS has more than you can count.
  12. The best way to quiet an AL canoe and make it rock slick is to put Gluvit on the outside of the bottom and pickup bed coating on the inside of the bottom.
  13. The lower end of Taney is muddy. Bull Creek and Silver are running muddy, but Bear is high and clean for all the good it does. The James is flowing through Springfield lake and the Finley appears to be high and muddy.
  14. I was wondering why one would look for a stream with both, given all the fine Smallie water around. There will always be some in the rivers that are dammed, they are a river fish genetically so that's no surprise.
  15. Sometimes you just can't win!
  16. Some craws have a little highlight on the bottom of their shells, I forget what they're called, so I tie two single strands of chartreuse, orange or red silicone strands oneon each side of the bottom.
  17. You would love a 160 Guide then. I assume your young ones are too little to be effective paddlers, but you can use a trolling motor on a regular canoe, you just need a simple mount. I don't know of any aluminum canoes that are as stable as the Guides, Discovery's, or even the Pelicans. The Buffalo's wold be another option and the chance of getting a second could save you some money.
  18. I remember the early 60's. Branson cafe was the best breakfast and it had a counter, and it was in the middle of town. Silver Dollar City gave silver dollars as change. It took forever to get here no matter which road you took.
  19. Looks great, as I said I tie some with the overlay of silicone. I've never done the antennae, but I like it. You do need to tie some in the right color however, ugly olive brown.
  20. Oneshot when you come from the state park and up Fall Creek road, take the right at the sign advertising Lilley's and Cooper Creek. The first left takes you to the MDC access where there's a fishing dock. If you take a notion to bring your boat there is a ramp there also. If you take a notion to rent a river boat then Lilley's is right there also. If you continue on up 165 there's a couple of good BBQ's and a Sonic, without hitting the madhouse section. Almost forgot, there's a lot of White cats being caught on the north side, below Truman, down passed the last parking.
  21. Why would you want to target stream spots? They tend to run on the small side in my experience.
  22. You don't say what your use will be. I would imagine that stability will be a big factor and how about weight? You would have a lot more options with the Old Towns and they also have lighter materials available then polylink.
  23. Its probably the fuse, which is easy to fix. What's hard to figure out would be why it blew in the first place.
  24. The plan is for me is the autologous route. My chemo was more of an inhibitor, as opposed to a poison.
  25. I would imagine they would if you ask.
