  1. Yeah before Truman the Grand and Osage were both full of them. I remember snagging one in the Osage that went 6'.
  2. Indian? Maybe Long Creek, but it's a popular crappie launch and I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't full. Old 86, if it's still open, or even Cricket Creek, just be sure and clear the line if you don't have the White river permit.
  3. It's hard to say. If they did the work in the cold months the 6 month full closure might be the best. I would think public safety might be served just as well via 86. The 86 closure wasn't all that bad, but I'm not sure how traffic compares to 13 beyond KC?
  4. I think we need a warm rain and another week, 10 days to start the party.
  5. Were you at the ramp or the slough?
  6. Hate to hear that Mitch. Stay strong.
  7. Jim do you fly fish carp from your yak?
  8. Great!
  9. I think it's south of the lake, west of Osceola. There used to be a dam at Osceola that stopped all the fish, but now they just keep going upriver. There's a ramp at the Sac on the north side of the river.
  10. 6 games, or the fact that many of the teams only need one game play "over their heads" to make waves and ruin an otherwise great season. But I agree it's the best solution going.
  11. I don't think this kind of start is unheard of. There are always teams that don't get the respect they deserve, but in college BB the talent hasn't always been that far apart. The teams who survived and the teams who have "easy" opponents ahead should really settle down now and take no one for granted. It's more fun now to figure out who will join WS, MSU and FL in the final 4. Yeah I know I shouldn't have posted that, they'll probably all lose their next game.
  12. I wonder if it might not be worth putting a sign up on the highway with a phone number, in case someone pick it up thinking it was lost or had been dumped?
  13. Not as long as you don't ask for special treatment. Krazo I think telling someone to follow the letter of the law might work well in most instances, but there will always be exceptions. The law is designed to stop the spread of a moss, so if you NEVER put a boot down where it exists, why should you pay the price to keep a few from stopping the spread. They could require special paint on boats and motors to prevent zebra mussels also, but the don't. Four lane 160? That's what eastern Taney county uses to imitate the rides at Steal your dollar City. You think it's bad in Greene county, take a drive to Theodosia, or Sunburst ranch from Forsyth.
  14. There's signs marking the boundary. It isn't exactly where the spring enters though. There's a little cushion , 25-50' if i remember right.
  15. Anytime you get close to the bank on TR you risk hitting something. Had they been lined up to go under the bridge they would have been alright. I can see why there aren't buoys because both piers are at the end of projections into the lake. There's no real way to see where the land ends even without the buoys. They had probably run up through there many times and not realized how close they were to hitting something.
  16. If you look up the recent post about a boat hitting a pillar on Flat Creek you'll see that the old hiway 173 still extends into the lake. There's a road, if you can call it that, that comes down off the hill to reach it. The last time I was there however I bailed on driving down it because it had washed real bad. Maybe someone can update you on it. If you can get down to it there's a fair amount of bank space off it and the around the slough to the west.
  17. I always questioned the wisdom of forcing thousands to replace their boots because a few might fish tainted waters. I'm sure felt would be the best carrier, but I imagine laces and drain grommets wouldn't be far behind. I think education and herbicide baths in key areas would have been easier and smarter. People like Wrench and I have no reason to worry and I know we aren't alone.
  18. When Wilt went he didn't have to play basket ball, he could just stand under the basket.
  19. If you go here there is an old two track, to the left, that goes upriver quite a ways. I wouldn't drive it necessarily, but walk it.
  20. We were buying it here for $2, but i haven't looked close lately. This was Walmart.
  21. Yup that would be Yogi's assessment, like he always said, "If you come to a fork in the road, take it"
  22. I think we need a good warm rain, but not thunderstorms, just a good day or two of rain.
  23. yeah the old road bed extends out quite a way. I would imagine in high water it is really a hazard.
  24. The rod should be fine. You might do some searching on line for carp flies. There are several blogs dedicated to flyrod carping. The popular flies are fairly easy to tie and the list isn't very long. Troutnut69, a member, has a blog and he does some carping. http://highplainsflyfisher.blogspot.com/
  25. Can't argue with that. I've taken many a short can of Spam on an overnighter. eat half of it fried for breakfast and the other half on a sandwich later, no ice needed. I like everything with salt and cholesterol. Should make a good spice like lemon pepper, cholesterol salt.
