  1. I could see that.
  2. Even chicken has a hard time beating fried cottontail though. I've eaten jacks and they weren't really all the tough. They weren't near as good as a cottontail, but not bad. The one disclaimer is that I have no idea if they were young ones or not. Young muskrat is pretty tasty, being a vegetarian and virtually no fat like a whistle pig they are similar to a cottontail.
  3. Those should work. I know the Green Butt Skunk works well on gills. Just an idea, I tied my GBS's with egg yarn on the butt, not flared, but wrapped tight.
  4. I was never there, but it wouldn't matter because I don't remember much about being out on a pass.
  5. One thing going against FSU is Miami and FL. Miami wasn't as good as thought and they won't get any extra points for beating FL. The Big 10's bowl record isn't generally stellar and that takes some of the points away from OSU. The Big 12 is gaining strength, but how much is hard to tell because they're all in conference now. The SEC has lost some perennials, or so it seems, and they're also all playing inside. The SEC has a lot more good teams than the Pac 12 and they get tied up all too often. Alabama playing LSU again to avoid a national Championship game, GA playing AL instead of FL playing AL? The bottom line is it will take a lot of good bowl match ups to determine who shines and who doesn't for this season. IMO!
  6. I hear that Exiled. I was going to a tech school at Lowry AFB in Denver in '58 and the only jackets they had for us were field jackets without liners. They hadn't restocked enough liners after Korea to go around. With nothing but a little cotton on in 0-10 degrees it was COLD!
  7. Ohio State is still stinging from the sanctions I think. So Cal went a long way before the sanctions kicked in. The rewards of a little cheating never get reversed, so the pollsters are soft on them afterwards. If the remaining unbeaten survive it will reinforce the new format, who wouldn't want to see the 4 play for all the marbles.
  8. Yeah I would imagine that it would be a bear to keep the slag under control.
  9. I do think teams would be smart to play their non-conference warm up games early. I know some teams like to have them as an R&R, but if they play them early they will have any bumps overwhelmed by better match ups. The fly in the ointment, in my mind, is this If they follow the polls there will be no change.
  10. I don't think there is time for a national conference with all the teams involved. Something has to eliminate some of the teams, Alabama shouldn't have to play Wyoming, but they shouldn't play a team they were beaten by in the National Ch. game either! There is no reason a half dozen computer programs if written right couldn't determine the true strength, as close as possible' of teams and make realistic comparisons. Then settle it on the field, but you have to get the right teams to the field.
  11. I agree. There is more to ranking then just record, or it should be. That's why I like computers to do the ranking. If they are used right they can pick up on weak schedules or heavy ones and make adjustments. I know I've said it before, but no one can lead me to believe a coach can rank teams, he far to busy for that, and writers don't have time to check out every team either.
  12. I haven't eaten squirrel in a long time, but I used to. I'm not a big fan of grays because of the size, but a big fox or two isn't bad. The best way I found to cook grays was in the crock pot. When they get to the falling off the bone stage just bone them out and make some gravy to top them with.
  13. I'm not familiar with all the pots, but I've always appreciated my Lee with the bottom spout. I used a dip pot before, but thought it was to cumbersome.
  14. I've never liked the auto bids either. Some teams have made good showings and some haven't, but playing an easy schedule and then getting a win over some team who has fought all season doesn't prove all they think it does, IMO. Boise State was a good example. A big part of their success was in plays that weren't seen in the regular season because they never needed them. How does a team get ready for an opponent who never shows tendencies during the regular season because they don't have too?
  15. Yeah but they are very unlikely to meet Ohio State, So Cal or Notre Dame.
  16. Mizzou/Baylor would be a great bowl for both.
  17. Me too, but I never did figure out why the Mexicans on the border act like they've never heard English?
  18. I agree about receivers not getting the separation they should. Smith had to throw some high just to get rid of the ball. I do question some of the plays/players. Running McCluster down the sideline and expecting him to get some seperation from a corner doesn't make sense to me. Running Charles in the middle on the goal line?
  19. That might not be as bad as it sounds once you realize that a boat the size of the MoArk could navigate the river. We just don't have the water now to support the fish.
  20. And I might add that in this area a lot of small town players get overlooked. In the end no one can overlook the fact that some coaches can go anywhere and have a winner, but the more outstanding players the higher in the rankings.
  21. The bottom line for me is I like fishing and for me different techniques mean different challenges. Sort of like the fish is the ball and it can be played with different shapes and rules. The smallie is the king in my book, but there is fun in a 20# carp, a mess of crappie, a trout or two, anything busting a topwater and the list goes on.
  22. I wasn't disappointing overall, yes I would have liked to have won, but the Chiefs were in it all the way. There were some disadvantages for them, mile high is a mile high, the OL of Denver played a great game. No team will shut down Houston and Hali that well very often. The next meeting will be on our turf and we'll see what that brings.
  23. Big and bad tornado hit in Ill. Not sure where the town is in the state, Washington near Peoria, but it looks bad.
  24. It shouldn't take long, the wind is just short of 50mph here, I think. There isn't much on the radar at this point. It appears on the satellite that everything is farther north than I thought is was supposed to be?
  25. Ramp users, IMO, should start calling or e-mailing their reps to turn them over to the counties. The congress or the COE could set up rules regarding minimums. The counties already have crews for upkeep and law enforcement. I'm not talking Missouri, but all across the country. There is no reason for the COE to engage in something so minimal and far from their mission.
