  1. Much will be learned says Confucius and me.
  2. I haven't seen a winter yet that will turn back the ticks here, it's a 12 month battle. I'm like Wrench, cold is cold and after working in it most of my life I don't miss having the opportunity anymore.
  3. Well you can't close it now. I want to hear Ness describe the fun he has watching, what I assume, is hawks FB.
  4. The! director did have experince and now that the political posturing has dried up, he and Bushhave been exonerated. Thd Democratic governor laid most of the blame on the NO mayor, police and upstanding citizens.
  5. Well Ollie beat me to it. TP! As for the debt, in gubmit programs they can't find about 25 bil from the 225 bil they get every month. It doesn't compute for them.
  6. I just think Tebow complemented FL, but didn't carry it like a great QB would.
  7. I love the breaks. I had an Answer on my 300 Winny and I always compered it to my 257 Roberts. I'm not a fan of multi power scope on big game rifles though, I went 4 for western hunts.
  8. F & F I have too pretty much agree with all that. Tebow had a great defense and O line, always an asset for QB that can run. Hie team mates made him look better than he was. Franklin=fragile Chase=needed 4" in height to be great. McCarron= Katherine Webb, I mean great all around QB. I agree, one of the best, but if you spread your teams numbers around you don't get that many awards.
  9. I don't think the hammocks mind, it would be me I would worry about. I'm just thinking I wouldn't want to carry a can of Deet around my neck so I could spray every time I had to step out. Uh uh, not for me I'll stick with a nice hard clear gravel patch..
  10. The biggest problem I see with hammocks here is ticks. You have to hang them right where the prefer. It doesn't mean they will necessarily get in it, but they will track you down outside.
  11. The opposition will stunt a lot more than usual and how well Mauk and the line can pick up on it will be the key, IMO.
  12. I wouldn't think recoil would bother you much if you pack a 6 3/4lb 7 mag? Well unless it has a brake. I've fooled around with several 94's over the years, 30/30's and 32's and if there is one thing that is consistent, or so it seems, it's that you can't help an inaccurate one. Some rifles will respond to ammo changes or some tuning, but I never saw a 94 that would.
  13. I think of all the things mentioned, food is the one thing that can be adjusted to fit the individual. From cold to grilled and baked, it's more about time than a lot of difference in equipment bulk.

All I can say is you guys suck as predictors, not one of you predicted 6 and 0!
  15. I have an old PUR that served me well, but the filters are no longer available. I replaced it a few years a go with this one. It doesn't produce as much in a given time period, but for one or two people it does alright. This company has always been a leader in water filters for the outdoors. I've used filters for probably 15+ years and never had a problem. It is best to take water from the center of the stream, ice chest or a spring to keep the filter from clogging up to quickly from vegetation. http://www.katadyn.com/en/katadyn-products/products/katadynshopconnect/katadyn-wasserfilter-ultralight-series-produkte/katadyn-mybottle-purifier-blue-splash-1/ Dry bags that are in the hull don't need the quality that ones exposed to current need to be. A simple wetting won't bother even the cheap ones, where they fail is when they are facing a current. A tent for instance could be carried inside the hull wrapped in a tarp to use as protection from gravel and be usable even if there was a minor leak. The sleeping bag obviously needs all the protection it can get.
  16. Well for me in a kayak its go small more than go light. Backpackers do both, but you don't have to do the light, small is light enough. I use a one burner stove, a water pot and small plates or bowls, generally one of each. The biggest problem in weight and space is water and I never take it, instead I use a purifier. With the purifier I have unlimited water and little space. You can drink out of the container you use to store water in. The new purifiers that are container and filter work real well. I start by using ice melt and then go to the cleanest water available. For food the Mountain House entrees, available at Wal Mart, are surprisingly good. They are also small and self contained. That takes care of one important issue, sustenance. For shelter I have a Eureka backpacking tent and a light bag. A small pop up will work, I used one for years and the only concerns I had was breaking a pole which is why I went to the Eureka. A pad can make a big difference and I take one. The one I have doesn't require protection from water and can be carried exposed. It doesn't hurt to have a small kit with knife, Gerber folding saw, fire starters and fire, compass ( Yeah I know the river runs one way, but only if you can stay on it ) medications for pain and sterilizing and a small first aid kit. You should make a list of things you really think important, and trim it where necessary. It's easier to determine whats important days in advance rater than make quick decisions when packing. Which comes to the idea of putting things in one place days before you pack to leave.
  17. I agree, but it's still bs and another reason computers would do a better job. They would only look at GA's record and rightly so because the pollsters have no idea what the strength of GA is at this point any more than they will know Mizzou's next week. We all know if they penalize Mizzou for GA's problems and GA then goes on to win and they won't look back, It will be ancient history to them. Human polls suck, always have and always will, but now we have a better source and they should use it.
  18. It's hard to speculate with Franklin down without know the extent of his injury. Have to pull for GA now to keep this win big.
  19. I like P-LIne Original. It's thin and tough.
  20. I think Gavin has the right idea. One of the "tub" style soft plastic sleds would probably work. Something like a short travois might work for you. You could probably build one that would use plastic pipe and would be just long enough to attach and extend. If the pipe bolted to a sling and strap the pipe would be cheap and expendable.
  21. Exactly! That's one of the reasons I was so disappointing in the slow progress in stocking stripers. With the lack of any reason to believe there is a negative impact black bass it can't do anything but help the economy. The new level on BS will hurt Forsyth in the spring most likely. The prime walleye area will be flooded if the lake is normal. Eventually there could be a run of stripers in the spring to offset that.
  22. Another option is to flavor mayo with what you like, hot pepper, onion, garlic, Old Bay or the like and spread it thin on the fillet instead of butter.
  23. Pinkel has a hard time getting his team calmed down and focused in games they have to step up big in, IMO. It's just something that seems to haunt some coaches, I think Stoops of OU has some of the same problem. Having said that I think that might make all the difference, if they overplay, they lose, if they play calm, cool and collected they win or scare the heck out of GA, but probably prevail. I think Al might well be right in his assessment.
  24. I think this is the biggest game they have had in years. I don't think GA is crippled, maybe dented, but still respected in the polls. It is all about the polls, right? It's always tough in this phase of the season when schools come off the easy teams and meet the other teams who look good coming off their weak schedule. Is Vanderbilt better or worse than TN? That's a question no one knows. I think my prediction is very close!
