  1. Marvin I think Terrierman was speaking to the many wading opportunities for smallies in the immediate area.
  2. Here's something you can know about it, and the reason for concern. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/02/01/boys-ranch-runaways-held-in-mo-death/1885201/ I think you have to pause and think when they use the word "escape".
  3. Many people have been cleared of crimes by using DNA and that is proof, I suppose, that delaying executions has been a good thing. Turn the page and it would seem that any murder proven by irrefutable DNA should bring swift punishment.
  4. It used to be a good area, but some of the good holes have filled in. You'll have to get away from the acess to do any good. All the accesses around there get a lot of attention.
  5. Hopefully this one isn't as dangerous as the last two.
  6. Roaring River is closer than Bennett. It also has a C&R section that Bennett lacks, unfortunatly.
  7. Actually the whole shoreline from the dam to Bear creek doesn't offer much protection from traveling bass boats. Not that it would prevent you from fishing, but yeah, staying close to the shore line would be prudent.
  8. Lasy Fingers should be up and abundant.
  9. There's kids toy that is basically a ball covered in those. I've seen some flies that use the tentacles.
  10. I don't know of any rules concerning float tubes. Safety would be the biggest concern and I wouldn't want to be too close to the dam. If you don't mind a little drive, the area around the old Coombs Ferry access gives you lots of small coves and a good flat to fish.
  11. Kelroy who determines the location of the gauges on the Niangua?
  12. I think that's a fly tied with tentacles from a kids toy.
  13. Now that I see where the gauge is I see where the lake wouldn't affect it. I was assuming it was in OK and probably around the mouth.
  14. Is the gauge at Tiff City effected by the Grand lake level?
  15. Sounds like that is a reading for the battery voltage. It will probably come back when someone realizes a switch needs to be changed.
  16. What are some good places to eat? There are restaurants on every corner, If you like BBQ Danna's is a good place for locally produce Q, it's on 165 S of 76, or on old 13. The Farm House, in old downtown is a great place for any American cafe meal. Are there nice state parks or conservation areas to visit within a 45ish minute drive? The dam, the COE visitor center just south of the dam, Eureka Springs in AR come to mind. Not cheap but an afternoon cruise on the Branson Belle would be memorable. Can I take my kayak on that lake or is that a bad idea? I would stick to coves on TR or hug the bank around Indian Point. The same cauton aboiut staying close to the bank would apply to Taneycomo I assume the town will be very crowded so is traffic an issue driving around? That depends on whether you are in a hurry, it is slow going on 76, but if you are going somewhere else there are detours Should I get familiar with backroads to and from the tourist trap type stuff....There are free maps available everywhere. thanks for any info....
  17. It wasn't bad this weekend, they were fishing off the top of the dam.
  18. I passed on the fishing. It was about as crowded as I've seen it. High water can be tough because the fish change their focus and add a lot of fishermen and it just adds to it.
  19. I imagine some of it is a result of the flood. They seem to like flowing water, but not shoals.
  20. Well......that's ........not..........me?
  21. The river looked a little high yesterday from the 64 bridge, but the color was good. I suspect the bad thing now would be finding the flooded gravel bars to wade.
  22. I imagine they made a run for it when the flood came and followed cleaer water. Now that the juvinile deliquents are back in their institution's and thiet parole officers are back to work fishing will be easier.
  23. I wonder if they will now? Aren't they about a month overdue?
  24. From what I've read the Waynesville and Hollister floods were close.
  25. Interesting information bfishn.
