    The article says that the sharks looked normal but that they had genetic markers of another. The problem is that if the discovery was from a "rourine" venture, how do they know it's even a new occurrence? How do they know it's not an ongoing historical occurrence in the overlap area? How long have they been doing routine DNA in this area?

    I agree and the biggest problem is making a felt to rubber comparison. Korker,for one, has boots with interchangeable soles. Cleats for wading and rubber for hiking should outperform felt.

    Given the fact that the two were compared through DNA and considering that the science is new it raise questions in my mind. If they are backcrossing it may have been going on for a long while before DNA. If the water temp is the reason, due to global warming of course, wasn't there always a demarcation line somewhere? How would the movement of that line between them cause sudden hybridism? Didn't it always exists somewhere?

    One only has to look at the stats. I believe CA is probably the most dangerous considering the chances of contact. Their fatality rate is three per century I believe. I believe it's less than 60 for the US and Canada in the last 100 years. Not bad odds.

    I haven't heard of any nor seen any action that would give it away. The most consistant area is below powersite. The creeks don't see action as soon and are more prone to blowouts.

    I've had a couple of different sets of wading shoes and I can tell you they are not all equal. I suspect that the high dollar boots will work alright and the cheap ones won't.

    I've always used 16's when venturing into the unknown, but size isn't important because the fish will let you know if it's right.

    Phil's right that there aren't many boats on the lower end. Empire gets some attention from the bank, but it's never crowded.

    A box of Jiffy, some finely chopped onions and a can of green Chili's. Making sure the oil is hot enough and you have enough heat to maintain it is 70% of the battle.

    Superline for me also. I like 4/15, but 6/20 works for me also. The SL floats and gives me better contact for those hard to see tic's.

    It will come up, how much depends on the rainfall. They use BS as a storage reservoir so most years it comes, the mystery is how much and how long. Last year was an exception.

    I've move between them on rare occasions and it does seem depend on the flow. You can't depend on seeing much at Beaver though unless they are generating as much or more at the BS dam.

    I would question the handling of a pirogue on feat flow because it is a stillwater design. The ones I've seen didn't have a lot of freeboard.

    Sometimers, is that a word? As I recall that wad was in little bend and high. Now all those other wads you caught from.....no wait.. that you didn't catch from. Sorry Ginga, A fish is not a pattern.

    I can't see that being a problem if someone has some experience. My solo and my SOT don't have a lot of initial stability, but I'm use to it and don't try to compensate. Stability is a sum and what you gain in one you will lose in the other. In small maneuverable craft it is obvious and important to the experience.

    Actually what the youngsters aren't telling you is that TC could fish under the wad because it was hanging off the bank for the most part. A wad that runs to the bottom generally requires a drift as close as possible and with something to call them out. A bigger fly or streamer would be my choice and with some color if I could get away with it. Trout by their nature don't chase unless it's either big or easy, preferably both.

    I might add a couple of things, one being that a solo's length does hamper some design characteristics limiting some desirable traits. You also have to take in the design of the hull above the projected waterline. When any canoe is leaned tumblehome and how it is designed into the hull becomes just as important as the paper stats.

    All they have to do is tell people when they buy their tag about the new rule. Why would they start it Mar 1 and not enforce it? They control the start date. I agree there are going to be more than few unhappy people if their first notice is at one of the parks.

    I have a couple of the 12' spinning rods, BPS, that I like. They do a good job of lobbing a float and fly and also have the ability to drop a rig into the middle of a brush pile.

    Information available list every creek/river that has trout in it. If you fish for trout you can't have any felt or woven material on the bottoms of your footwear.

    That's pretty common in salt water yaks. They run them off of an MC battery and epoxy the transducer inside. There were some sites showing various custom alterations. You might do some searching and see if any are still around.
