I would think it too dangerous. I don't see how someone could protect themselves and fish?

I suppose they need more food in these conditions. I feed quite a few birds, but not all at once normally. Today the birds are thick around the feeders and don't seem to be in any hurry to leave. I even had a couple of crows under one of them earlier. I also have about 6 doves that apparently didn't go far enough south.

Not to belittle your trips Gavin, but don't you truck in the wall tent? I guess my point is that if that is correct, you guys have a safety valve.

I hope so Tim. I also hope RR doesn't get Rogerized. RR was the source my first, trout, I was with a group of scouts and we camped there, '54 I think. I do remember it came on a grab bag black, yellow and orange streamer.

Midge larvae have a red phase and if you have a pattern you like, tie it red.

My story is a black powder hunt in an are know as Snow Mountain in eastern OR. I went a popular campgound where we often camped during cow season and intended to hunt the back side of a lake that always had deer. I had hoped that the campground wouldn't have too many hunters, or if it did they wouldn't hunt the backside that required a long hike around the lake. As it turned out O was there alone. The area I intended to hunt required me to come past an thick with brush and seedlings and I decided that would put me too close to an ambush. I knew from elk hunting in the snow that there was healthy cat population, so no evening hunts that trip.

After I posted yesterday we got a burst of big flakes that added an inch quickly, then the wind came up and blew it all over creation.

So do you often lie to your wife? I don't see where, under your scenario, there would be any concern? Experienced and expecting kind of rules out any emergency due to the weather. Under these circumstances people people do this all the time, even some crazy fisherman on here, and it ain't just once. :lol:

I don't remember the wooden dam, but I do remember there was a deep hole above the new one. I do remember a lot of holes and runs that are gone now. The spring boiled at one time so there is probably some loss there. I can remember my cousin who was about 13 at the time, falling about a hundred yards above the dam and he rolled several times before he could get his feet under him. That would have been '59 or '60. The hole under the Rock bridge was deep and dark as late as the 80's and held a lot of lukers. The big fish would come out from under the bridge at twilight and head for the fish cleaning areas. I wish they would shut it down until they do a major dredging, even if it went into he summer season.

I doubt that any fans really know if Hali or Houston are a 100% or if they are even close. The thing is they will play because of their experience even if they are not any better than the second string.

We had the tracks of one coming through our barnyard in OR. We may have had other visits, but it was high desert and seldom wet enough for tracks. I would always see their tracks in the snow when elk hunting late. I always hoped to see one but never did.

That old Sooner magic. For some reason in my experience, that goes back to Bud, OU has trouble with bowl games they are favored in. Tell them they don't have a chance and they come ready to play. That's probably right on the poll, behind FSU, AU, MSU and SC, not necessarily in that order. I think they'll be ranked pretty high in the preseason on the strength of DGB and Mauk. Mauk is well proven now and that will carry a lot of weight,IMO.

I've been in similar circumstances when elk hunting. They should do what we did, keep hunting. You indicate they are prepared and knew what to expect so I would assume they are prepared to wait it out. Cut some wood, fish a little and enjoy the solitude.

A female would be a different story, but beyond that I do believe a young male will hang around where there are a lot deer until he gets that urge, and will then move on. Given the reasons behind their expansion, eventually there has to be some movement of young females also.

I watched the first ice bowl, yes we had TV and it was televised . I was a big Cowboy fan then and Starr's sneak broke my heart. I'm a lot tougher now and don't cry near as long. I'll be watching this one because I'm drawn to games in adverse conditions. I love to see them play in the snow and I'll watch anyone who does.

I think there's a possibility that the river is colder than the fish like and they are moving to spring areas. It might better fishing closer to Bennett than to Barclay. My experience observing the stocking in early September leads me to believe they might only stock one access when they stock?

Yeah but they see that all the time. I have some friends who live in northern Saskatchewan and I don't feel warmer when I think of them, even though I like them. It looks like we're approaching 3" here in the lee areas.

I think their TE's can catch the ball, but they are slow and I believe that is why they don't utilize them more. Injuries in the OL have also kept them blocking. I just can't knock the Chiefs, all of this BS about how many points Indy scored overlooks how many a crippled Chiefs scored. At least they were in the playoffs and a one point win doesn't make Indy a super team like the eastern talking heads would have one believe. Did I ever mention Boomer Sooner?

Well I guess I'm more realistic. Yes Indy scored a lot of points on the red defense, but the red offense scored a lot of points on the Indy defense. Of course Indy didn't lose the league leading running back for the entire game. Nor did they lose two Pro Bowlers. so over all i think they did one H--- of a job considering and I'll take it over the last few years anytime.

I still contend that if they had some cover to propagate in and hide there would be plenty to go around.

I guess we all don't want to mention the biggest quail predator. Like it or not, the good old wild turkey is probably the worst.

I might add some things to consider. First to start the boys off I would look hard at sets from Bass Pro or Cabelas or some offered by the rod companies, as opposed to trying to put rigs together at this point. Second, don't think hatches in most Missouri trout streams. You can throw a dry most anytime and more often then not get bit. Elk Hair Caddis, Griffiths Gnat and some type of PMD would be good to start with. As for sink tips or lines? In my opinion they aren't worth the money unless you know you will use them a lot and in specific places. The sinking leaders offered by Rio are better to start IMO. If you find later that rigging with a sink tip is something worth doing you will also at the time know which one you need.

I think the game last night revealed that both teams were very close, but Mizzou's defense was in better shape. To me, after the first quarter it appeared it might come down to who's defense bent the most.
