  1. You should have pretty nice weather I'm thinking
  2. chocolate milk right now under the 54 bridge.
  3. Heading down to Pomme Saturday morning early....any suggestions on catching a few crappie?
  4. First time out on Pomme in years. Managed to find a mess of them 8" crappie:) Girlfriend caught a nice 12 1/2" and that was it. Between swimming to keep cool, we didn't really put too much effort into fishing. I did manage to put a 4x6" hole in the bottom of my Nitro!!! Luckily it didn't go all the way through the hull. I reckon I can patch it up enough to get the job done. If my memory serves me right, there's a log in the water in a bend right below Lightfoot campground....well, I remembered it about the same time I hit it:)
  5. Does anybody know the story on the top two fish? I was just wondering if they were weighed in on the same scale. 1 one-hundredth of a pound seems pretty dang close to me.
  6. Seth, your exactly right....no need to be like that....bad sportsmanship if you ask me!!
  7. OK, I wasn't going to chime in on this but after what I seen last night I'm kinda pissed!!! I'm a dock owner and I have no problem with folks fishing around the dock, heck I even tell them where the beds are. But last night when I got home from work I watched my 85 year old neighbor fishing off her dock as normal. She was catching a few crappie. Now understand, they've lived there for over 30 years and this is her favorite thing in the world for her to do. A bass boat was coming into the cove just as she caught a crappie. By the time I got down to the dock to ask her how the fish were biting the bass boat with three guys in it pulled up right in front of her!!! She could have stepped off her dock and on their boat they were so close. This prevented her from fishing off the side of the dock that she normally does. She wasn't happy about it but she said nothing to them and just moved to fish off the other side. My thoughts: As a common courtesy a fisherman should respect other fisherman and not crowd in on somebody like that. If I'm out in the boat fishing, I don't get within a 100 yards of another boat, it's a big lake. If somebody is fishing off their dock I don't pull up and fish it...there's plenty docks on the lake to fish. Probably the most upsetting part of this whole story was two of the guys in the boat were in their sixties and the other was over 40. They should know better. Sorry for the long post but I just had to vent a little on this one:)
  8. It's a Blue Cat
  9. I was using a 1/16 tube jig tipped with crappie nibble. Casting to the front of the well and letting it sink to the bottom. Don't do a lot of reeling, just bring your rod tip up and feel it bouncing on the brush. 4-6 lb test and a real sensitive rod. If you think your bring it in slow, slow down even more....they are just hitting it as soft as can be.
  10. I went out last night for about an hour and managed to catch 6 biguns. They were on the bottom in about 28 foot of water in a boat slip. Turned loose, didn't feel like cleaning 6 fish. Was nice to get out though.
  11. Yeah, that's what I've been doing over brush piles with crappie nibble for the last few weekends. Haven't caught more then 6 and that was my best day. The ones I did catch were pretty shallow 5-7 foot down in 12' of water. The pressure is going down Sunday, I might switch it up and try to catch a few cold water catfish:) I've been seeing a lot of big shad up by the banks when the sun is out.
  12. Anybody catching any crappie on the lake these days?
  13. Well, I just bought a bass boat this past month and I'm really looking forward to the upcoming Big Bass Bash. I've been watching guys fish it from off my dock and now I will be able to join them. All that said, I've been out of bass fishing for the last 10 or so years. I'm way behind on all the lingo and baits guys are using today. Bob, is there anyway I can get that promo code and join your site? I got the free membership but I'm thinking if I want to get serious about bass fishing I'll need all the help I can get.
  14. Did anybody ever hear how many boat were entered?
  15. All right, now I know. I'm gonna have to look up some youtube videos and see what the differences are. Thanks for the info fellers.
  16. Why doesn't a person just use a spinning rig instead of a bait caster to shoot docks? You wouldn't have to worry about backlash and for the most part most folks around here already do it when their crappie fishing. I don't know, I haven't bass fished in 15 years but I think I'm gonna get back into it next year. They got this little thing called the Big Bass Bash that sounds pretty fun:) Just my two cents.
  17. I hear what your saying. We fished all weekend and just managed about two limits the whole time. I did notice that they were very deep when I was fishing 25-30 fow. We were catching them just a foot or two off the bottom. In the evenings fishing the same holes they would come up to about 10-12 fow. I do believe the warming of the water has them all over the place right now. I'll tell you one thing, it was like 4th of July weekend Saturday!!!! I went way to the back of Lynn Creek just to be able to fish:)
  18. I was up that way yesterday evening. Found some nice crappie deep on tube jig with crappie nibble.
  19. Turkey creek is really good this time of year. Go across the flats and head around to the left. There's a bunch of little coves that hold crappie. But the best I found is Cole Camp creek and mile or so down steam on the left (across from the dome hole). After you get through the no wake zone there's a good area to the left along the bank. Somebody years ago sunk some tires. If you head a mile or so up the creek, it cuts across to the left just past the scout camp. That hole bank all the way up on the left along the bluff is awesome fishing. On up a half mile or so from there you will see a nice house that sits back off the creek, it's on a right hand turn. The bank on the right is what I called the green hole (about 15' deep or so) along a bluff. This is the best fishing in the whole area. The key to catching the fish in that area is finding down trees or roots in the channel. Those crappie will be on those logs for sure. Good luck
  20. I caught some nice ones off the dock last night in about 6 feet of water and two foot down. I'm thinking by the time you get here it will be pretty good. I let all mine go but the guy on the next dock was cleaning his. He said they were full of eggs still.
  21. The Last Resort Campground is just up the road on Hwy M. 821/2 mm. It's on the correct side of the road and they use to charge 5 bucks to put in/out...nice folks. I had a camper there for years back in the day.
  22. Went down to the dock last night and tried to bust the ice to see how thick it was. Never got through but I could see it cracking about 5" down. Needless to say, I was walking around the dock last night on the ice.. This cabin fever is killing me......Chainsaw time tonight Jack!!!
  23. I'm on the #1 of the Big Niangua and it's frozen as far as the eye can see
  24. Only fishing that's gonna be done on LOZ is ice fishing for the next couple of weeks. It's been frozen clear across at the MM#1 of the Big Niangua for the last 5 days.
  25. That's what I'm thinking. A guy can cover a lot of ground looking for crappie beds an such with one of those. I guess the only place to mount one is off the back of the boat (triton). Or can they be mounted to a trolling motor?
