  1. So do you have to live at the lake to fish this? I'd be interested in fishing with someone if they needed a partner.
  2. Logically, that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. If the topic was about personal beliefs now vs then, OK. It really has no place in the argument about taxes, size of government, or whatever. It's just an attempt to discredit another person's viewpoint without really addressing what was being discussed in the first place. Also, is it wrong for a person's viewpoint to change? My political views have clearly transformed from when I was 16 to 21 to now 26. But what do I know... I'm only 26. I'm just happy my generation gets to clean up your mess.
  3. Yeah, thanks for all the advice. Yeah I love this pond b/c I know there are some pigs in there, it can just get frustrating sometimes. I know if i can get the crankbait in the right spot along the weeds I can almost always catch them, but having to pick the weeds off every 2-3 casts gets kind of old. The spook bite is starting to pick up a little, so hopefully other topwater applications will as well
  4. It's not very slimy, more weedish. Almost web like. Looks like this http://cdn.thepondguy.com/images/QAplcharapic.jpg I think its just one of those things I'm gonna have to deal with, I would try to go to other ponds, but this one has the biggest fish of them all!
  5. Yeah, I've tried out some weightless flukes and I have gotten some hits. I'm sure part of it is just the sheer amount of pressure it gets. They probably see about 1000 lures everyday.
  6. Anyone?
  7. I agree.
  8. Yeah, me too. I know they are in the business of winning and not fishing for sport, but man did it look silly. Especially the one with 10 hooks on it.
  9. Well I stopped by Unger Park today... Actually I went to Lone Elk Park first, but realized you have to make reservations to fish. So on the way home I stopped by Unger Park to check it out. I have fished at Preslar and Simpson, but I had not been to Unger yet. Got there at about 8:30 am. Started out with a weightless fluke, but with all the brush quickly realized I'd be better off with something else. Switched to a wave worm swim bug. On the first cast, near some downed trees to the left hand side of the where the River flows in I saw the line start moving. Set the hook and pulled out this bad boy (well girl i guess actually). Belly looked like it still had eggs. Didn't have a scale but she was somewhere between 4-5 lbs. Didn't catch anything else the rest of the day besides some little small LMs on a weightless senko. Had some more bites on the swim bug, but couldn't hook up. Sorry for the picture quality, i left the good camera in the car.
  10. Pink meat means they have lived in the river for a while, they aren't the newly stocked fish
  11. I was hoping to get some advice for a pond that I fish frequently. The issue with this pond as with most I'm sure is the amount of vegetation in the pond. The shoreline is pretty much clear for about 1-2 feet then is either covered by moss or submerged pond weed that extends anywhere from 5-10-20 feet. This covers nearly the entire E,S, and W sides of the pond. It clears out a little bit on the Northwest corner.. I have been having the most succes using a senko and a shallow topwater/crankbait ( the Heddon Swimin/Spittin Image? can't remember - it basically floats and when retrieved will dive about 1-2 ft with a wide wobble.) I catch them right on the edges of the pondweed when I can find it, if i get the senko to fall right on the edge, or if i burn the crankbait right on the outskirts of the pondweed. The issue is that is is hard to find castable areas that i can run the crankbait by the cover. It usually just ends up covered in pondweed. I'm almost positive they are all haning out on the outer edge of the pondweed that faces the center of the lake, but i can't get good presentations to this area. Spinnerbaits and other topwaters (Frogs, buzzbaits, rapalas) haven't been very effective. Any ideas?
  12. People just like to complain... If the event is growing by upwards of 50% I think you are doing fine.
  13. When I was younger I went down there and fished with live bait... all we caught were channel cats. My dad joked that we drove all that way just to catch what we could've caught at home. Last year I went to Marco Island, and had some better success with crankbaits catching some snook and redfish, but still ran into catfish when using live bait (shrimp). The big thing with the ocean fishing is watching the tides. Alot of their feeding patterns are based on that as well as the little channels between sand bars.
  14. The Blues still have 50 years of losing to even be compared to the cubs.
  15. What river were you guys fishing in?
  16. Yeah, there are some big ol cats in there. I don't know waht happened, but in my grandparents lake the fishing has really declined in the past 10 years. I figured it was due to two things 1. Innsbrook as a whole seems to be trying the make the whole area look nicer to golfers/retirees and removing a lot of the natural habitat/woods/cattails etc. around the lakes and leaving less cover for frogs/bugs/animals etc. 2. 10 years ago i don't remember seeing any carp out there. Now if you drive by any of the lakes in the summer you see the silhouette of several carp from the banks. Our lake used to have a lot of cattails and mass and lily pad cover that is no longer there. I may be wrong, but I think this has been detrimental to their lake. On a side note... I caught this one outta Forest Park today on my lunch break! Not bad for right in the middle of the city!
  17. Its pretty nice. My grandparents have a little pontoon boat on one of the lakes, but some genius decided to put a few grass carp in the lake and now all the cover has been decimated. I have only been able to catch little guys the past couple of years. I need to get those carp outta there!
  18. I pretty much just fish for Bass... nothing really of decent size in there though, just provides a nice break from the office. I have family that has a place out at Innsbrook, so I usually drive the extra 20 min and head there instead of Busch. It's just not as pressured.
  19. I'm in Crestwood. I don't have a boat, so I'm limited to the shore. I work in Clayton, so I usually head to Tilles or Forest Park on my lunch break just to get some casts in.
  20. Welcome. From STL here. Always open to a new fishing buddy.
  21. Where was this at Bill?
  22. Yeah, I didn't mean getting in the water w/o waders... I'm not that crazy. I just meant to ask if it was worth fishing from the shoreline in that area.
