Dang it, can't one of you wait till tomorrow when I am off work?!! ☹️

I have a Nikon P-223 scope I need to sale. I had it mounted on another gun that I traded in for a Ruger Ranch and the scope doesn't quite fit it as well as I like. Nothing wrong with the scope, I just need something different for the new gun I bought. The scope generally runs brand new around $150 I think. This will include Nikon P series mounts that I know you can't find cheaper than $50. The scope is only about a year old and is in excellent shape. Will take $175 for scope with rings. Can post pics if needed.

I think I will give it a go this weekend if the rain holds off. The run should start anytime now since guys are already catching them in deeper water right now up the river. 10c here I come!

Wellllll, not sure you would want to be familiar with that creek! That is the one that starts up around Pitcher where the superfund site is. Flows in right below Miami. I didn't look close enough at the pic, but there might be a couple of them that have 3 eyes or something like that! lol

Saw a report from yesterday as well bgctrading and the guys were all the way up to Tar Creek catching them. They ended up with 41 whites and 3 crappie and from the pic the whites were all decent size. I would say it is about to blow up!! This warmer weather and the river is up high enough to push them up so yea, just need it to clear up some and then it is on.

Tis the season if you are into snagging one of these. They are in full force going up the Neosho River. Kid at work caught a 45# one last night on his 10th cast he said. The people are lining the banks over by Conner Bridge and I drove by there yesterday morning and saw around 30 cars in the lot. Lots of debris in the river though so if you are in a boat be careful!

That is how we lost our storage shed and fence. Ground got saturated so bad when a big gust of wind came up it toppled!

If that Ithaca is the one I am thinking of then it is a real nice gun. My dad had one that his uncle gave him that was from around that time period. double barrel with fancy scrolling on the rec. and I think it was 26" as well. That was his quail gun and instead of handing it down to me when he died he sold it off for less than it was worth. Send me a pic if you are wanting to get rid of that Ithaca.

I saw a report where they are catching them staging around twin bridges in about 20 feet. They haven't gone into full spawn mode at all yet, but I know guys are catching them deep around the area.

This time we know for sure it is a different brown than the one that my neighbor caught. Completely different. So I know now of 2 nice browns in Capps! I think there probably more somewhere in that stream. Now I just wished they would protect them more.

I didn't want to post this until I talked with someone, but on Sunday I landed a nice pig of 20". Neighbor called me the night before and wanted his chance again at a nice one on Capps. So we headed down Sunday morning around 8 or so. Kind of cold again but not spitting out any snow or sleet this time around for us. I had a big black streamer looking jig on first and then I decided to change over to another one I had tied the night before. Olive and brown in color so to speak. On about the 4th or 5th cast I hooked into a nice one that I just knew had to be a nice big brown. Only caught one more rainbow the rest of the day.

Water temps are right around 45. Saw a report from yesterday they whacked them upstream from Twin Bridges on Spring River. It won't be too long until they are in full force!

First off, prepare for the masses! Those guys and gals will be sitting or standing at their favorite hole wwwwaaayyy before the sun even comes up. I would start with a white rooster tail first thing on a spinning rod and then switch over later in the morning. Olive woolly bugger of some kind will produce down there all day long.

Walleye and fried taters! That was the way I had walleye the first time. Good stuff right there. Congrats on the day out!

I do have to ask everyone one thing. How does the pic look? I mean, I wanted to take a pic of MY fish first and I failed, 😞 so how is the color and all of that? 🤔

Didn't plan on even fishing yesterday, but when work called and said no work and then my neighbor called and said,"hey, you want to go fishing?" of course he didn't have to twist my arm to hard! lol Not really sure why work called us off since Joplin and Neosho was sparred anything bad as far as snow or ice. So he calls me around 10:30 and we take off by 11:00. Temps started out 21 and by the time we left it was 19. Pretty cold to say the least. When we got there there was a light amount of snow coming down and it was really pretty outside. On the way there we kept seeing all kinds of ditches that were flowing hard so we didn't know what we were in for. Got down to the water and it was up a little, but with a real good flow to it. We were not disappointed. I started off with my olive jig and my neighbor started out throwing a rooster tail. I struck gold first after about 10 minutes. I could tell it was a nice brown just by the way it fought. When it finally came to the net I was stoked! Bad thing is I never got a pic of it. I just bought a new camera and was messing around with it trying to get a pic and the fish flopped out of the net, spit out my jig and was gone. Well, that just plain sucked. A few minutes later I landed another brown. This one was only around 12" or so however. Then my neighbor stuck another brown, this one was about 16" to the tape. Just when we were about to leave the area he hooked into my fish! He brought to hand a 20" brown on the last cast! I say my fish because I am finding it hard to believe there were 2 in that area the same size. It could have been a different one, but who knows. This will make another year I have landed a 20"+ fish down on Capps. They are in there if you know where to find them and when to fish for them. This post has been promoted to an article
