    Wade Trip

Walk in access to the 11 Point is pretty limited. Much better to rent a canoe from Brian Sloss in Alton.
  2. Spent the last 3 weeks at our house in north Arkansas. Weather was pretty cold with a few mornings in single digits. Fished the Spring, Norfork, White and Eleven Point rivers. Overall the fishing was good with high numbers of trout, no trophies but some decent trout. Rivers were low and clear so there were lots of sight casting opportunities. A few pictures... 1. 11 Point rainbow 2. Spring river bow 3. Another Spring river bow 4. Norfork cut 5, Norfork brookie 6, Spring river brown
  3. Looks like fun. Nice trout.
  4. Hate those coyotes. Glad she made it. Sounds like a great day all around.
  5. That's great! She will always remember that.
  6. Pretty colors on those fish.
  7. We spent the month of October at our house in Cherokee Village. We fished the Spring, Norfork, White and Eleven Point rivers. Fishing was great with good numbers of decent sized trout but no real monsters. Weather was perfect and the fall colors were beautiful when we left. Hot flies were the usual; midges and scuds on the Norfork and White and eggs and woolly buggers on the Spring and Eleven Point. We didn't get to fish the Norfork as much as we would have liked due to many days of 1/2 unit releases due to some work going on at the dam. Here's a few random pictures... 1 Norfork brown 2 Eleven Point rainbow 3 White river rainbow 4 Couple of deer munching on watercress in the 11 Point 5 Spring river rainbow
  8. It goes from the dam down to the wing dam just above the state park boat dock Rim Shoals and Wildcat shoals are good wading when the water is down.
  9. A wading staff and cleated felt soled boots will really help you get around safely. Also don't know if you are aware that the c&r area below the dam closes to fishing starting tomorrow thru Jan 31 for the brown trout spawn. Have fun and watch the generation schedules.
  10. Thanks for the update Tyler. Any idea when the work will be finished?
  11. Zebra midges, Sunday special scuds and egg patterns will work on both the White and Norfork. That's about all I use.
  12. I haven't seen minimum flow on either the White or Norfork in the last 3 weeks (at least during daylight hours). They are running a minimum of 35mw on the White and 18 on the Norfork. That's just enough to mess up wade fishing. When they actually run minimum flow the fly fishing is great.
  13. I pay $35/month at Patrick's. No electric. Very convenient for us as we always camp at Quarry park below Norfork dam.
  14. They are running less than a half unit pretty much all day for the last 2 weeks. Their usual schedule this time of year is minimum flow until mid day and then either 1 or 2 full units. I can't imagine that the current schedule generates more revenue than running 2 full units for 6 hours a day.
  15. I store a small travel trailer at Patrick's storage just outside of Salesville. It's covered but not individual stalls. Never heard of any problems there.
  16. Anyone know why SWPA is constantly running just enough water to screw up the wade fishing? They even ran the same schedule last weekend with the fly fishers conclave going on in Mountain Home.
  17. Thanks for the report. Was the water wade able?
  18. Good report. I fished there yesterday also. I was in a yellow kayak. Had a good day with lots of rainbows. Sure wish they would stock trout a bit larger. Also be great if they designated a catch and release area. I believe the Spring is the only year around trout fishery in the state with no special regulation area.
  19. Wife and I launched at Greer access this morning and fished from the confluence of Greer spring down to the first island downstream of the bridge. Ended up with 23 trout with a few nice ones. Best fly was a size 12 y2k. Water looked great and saw an eagle snatch a trout from the river. Beautiful place.... We waded and also fished out of the boat.
  20. Nice brown!
  21. Looks like they have been running a minimum of 35mw on the White instead of the usual 7mw minimum flow. I waded Rim Shoals at 35mw a couple of months ago and it was a bit much for my old body. Although there may have been some local runoff added to that flow.
  22. Thanks for the reply Snagged. Guess it will be morning fishing on the Norfork and then on to the Spring river for afternoon or evening.
  23. I've noticed that SWPA website has been showing generation levels of 24mw starting around noon most days for the last week. I assume that would be a half unit. We are heading up that way next week and wondered if anybody knows if that level would be safe to wade at the Ackerman access? Thanks
  24. Nice one.
  25. Brian is definitely the expert on the 11 Point. I am sure you will have a great time. Be sure to give us a report.
