  1. Thanks for the report, Bill. We have some family in from Wyoming and really want to get them bit so they will hit Taneycomo tomorrow with Beck & Pete. I was planning to bass fish SK area while they catch dinner but maybe I need to elbow in with them or try night fishing.
  2. Forgive me if this is a stupid question. I am not a night fisherman (yet). Wouldn't a boat be highly visible if you have a set of powerful black lights on, like the ones in the rub rail or the Nucli-Eye's?
  3. I am a complete rookie night fisherman and appreciate the tip about fluorescent braid. I didn't know it even existed. I really like the Nanofil on my spinning rods with light jigs and flukes though I did need to back off my drag a LOT.
  4. You are a brave man, Sir! I figure it might be Wednesday before the wakes stop bouncing.
  5. Nice fish. Thanks for sharing.
  6. Will do. Thanks

    Help!

Congratulations on your recovery. We aren't heading back to the lake until Wednesday but my buddy has been staying at our cabin and reports good results early throwing a fluke on main lake points and dragging a jig in 18 to 25 ft. He even had some luck on a white spinnerbait. Best of luck to you. Mike K.
  8. I have been making and using GP with Purple Flake. Also added a bit of Copper or Orange Flake on some. I wish I had enough time to thoroughly fish everything in the tackle box.
  9. Guys, I really appreciate the help. Please send me your mailing address via G mail = MRKSTL82. I will send some prototypes/samples as I finish them to those who posted I won't be looking to Xerox copy anyone else's stuff but will use it for inspiration and see what I come up with. Many thanks to all of you who have been patient waiting for orders and very generous in your donations to the wounded vets. The Big Tick has been popular and it's been keeping me busy making it. I just figured out how to make those with different colored claws and tentacles. I am looking forward to a weekend in the workshop to see what develops. Thanks, again, for your suggestions. Mike Knight
  10. I was fishing along a transition bank last week with a Snowden jig and trailer, casting up to 12' and pulling it back to 28". Jig had a skirt and a Paca chunk on it. A chunky K grabbed it halfway back to the boat as I was swimming it in at a medium pace. As it got close to the boat another K was alongside trying to grab it from the first one. I wasn't able to get a pattern going by just swimming the jig but did get several unsuccessful strikes swimming it in after dragging it back. Related to the bass following another one, my buddy has had that happen a lot with his flukes and he keeps a double fluke rig handy. I've watched him hook doubles that way but it looks like a tangled-mess-ready-to-happen when he stacks it on deck with the rest of his poles. It can be comical watching the rod-wrestling match when a group of fish start busting shad on top, LOL.
  11. I looked at a picture of that color. Wow, those guys are really good. I try not to infringe on someone elses design but, like music, some stuff is just inspiring. Thanks for that suggestion. I'm not skilled enough to go up against those guys but it does provide ideas. Mike K.
  12. I don't want to jack this thread but posted a related story here. http://forums.ozarkanglers.com/topic/40680-personal-best-freshwater-catch/
  13. Thanks, Quill My buddy has been staying at our cabin and tells me he has been having pretty good luck with a fluke around main lake docks and has also been catching on a white spinnerbait along bluffs and points.
  14. Thanks for checking.
  15. 20 lb Power Pro with 14# FC leader direct tied with Shaw Grigsby knot
  16. Thanks guys. Could I ask one of you to measure the thickness of the slim senko in the center? You will need to cut it half to measure. I have some at the lake but plan to work on molds this weekend. I wont make an exact replica but will work on a few things.
  17. I am preparing some molds to make single-tail grubs and ringed swimbaits as part of the Danger Close Plastics project. I will also be pouring up some 5.25" senko-type's Please let me know what colors or color combinations you might suggest for Fall, Winter and even Spring. Thanks for your help Mike K.

    Heat

We will have some elderly relatives from the Tetons visiting the week after Labor Day. We plan to take them to Taneycomo for a morning of fishing with a couple of guides. I haven't ever fished below the dam and am concerned about the summer heat. How much cooler is it than a morning on TR this time of year?
  19. Those with the yellow on most pages and blue on the front page are the ones I am looking for. I think Structure Graphics was the maker of the maps. I would like to buy the Table Rock set of Three (3) only. They do not have to be perfect or unmarked.
  20. We did not go out this morning but over the last few days it seems to be forming at civil twilight. We launch from Icebox Point. Before it is light we have had no fog and none seems to form usually where the Kings meets the White but if we head toward the bridge we get some and if we head up the White it starts about 1/2 mile up.
  21. I am looking for a set (3) of the Table Rock Lake topographical maps, Lower Lake, Middle Lake & Upper Lake that were around in the 90's. They were printed by a company in Manchester, MO and had multiple pages for each map. I would actually like to find several sets as this is for a craft project my wife is working on. If you happen to have a set I am happy to pay any reasonable price for them. Thanks Mike K.
  22. Thanks for the heads up. Regardless of what you feel about the place it is good to be notified about such things.
  23. Quill, thanks for keeping us posted. My wife and I are enjoying the quiet and calm waters the last few mornings but we miss the topwater action. We were out before dawn yesterday and did not catch a fish until 7:30. After that we did pretty well working a fluke type bait around shady side of docks and went in at 10. We went out at 7 this morning and drug some different (experimental) plastics around in 18 to 30 feet with only moderate success and no keepers. As mentioned, when it got bright & hot the bite died. We never saw anything but Gar on top. We started at Point 22 and fished up to Carters before putting the rods away and taking a ride up to Beavertown. Haven't been that far up the White in years. I am surprised how dark the water is all the way up the river. We stopped on the way back and ate lunch at Big M. Good burgers and hot wings!
  24. That Rootbeer color looks good. What is favorite color(s) for the 3 XD here on the Rock?
  25. Very good photo and nice buck. I sure am sorry to hear the fishing is tough. We are on our way tomorrow.
