  1. Flickr shad (troll) usually best in summer but prolly works all year. Keitech 2" swing impact (slow retrieve/ drft troll) spawn. Bobby garland baby shad (vertical) all year. I dont fish there in the dead of winter but there is a wealth of info from those who do.

    Crappie Spawn

Was at busch last weekend, and got blanked looking for deep fish, my brother the next day looked shallow and found a few.. The lake has a 30ft hole, and lots of 20ft water, but 80% is 6-8ft deep grassy flat. Usually in the spring the crappie move from that deep hold out over the flat and stay in that grass til october. Seems to me that things are progressing pretty quickly this year, but this cold front will change all that im sure.
  3. Looks good! Id hire ya for a day at a chance at some nice river walleye!
  4. Question....how do I catch x species under y conditions during z time of year? Answer....exactly what jim said lol draggin purple flicker shads around stockton lake has significantly improved my catch rate on that lake of about every species.
  5. Ive thought this with lots of predator fish.....they play chase like a cat chasing a sring on the ground. Crouch up....get excited....then pounce. Lol when I was little I used to "fish" for my cats with a ball n string tied to a plastic rod. In fact when im pulling a lure through the water im picturing one or more curious playful fish eyeballing it occasionally swiping and batting at it.
  6. Ive been checked several times over the years at table rock. Usually fishing the hwy 13 bridge, but ive also been checked in schooner creek and that long runnout point adjacent to it (pt seven maybe?) in kimberling city. They have always been curteous and friendly to me, even that time we had a cooler full of 12" bass! haha, jk. As much as ive been on stockton ive yet to be checked there, wonder whats up with that? Thanks for the report, seems like a great day on the water.
  7. Ive been using pfluegar presidents for years on my spinning gear and have had no complaints.....They are great for the money, the supremes are a nice step up. I have had a few saharas, and have had issues with the bail springs on more than one even though i usually close the bail manually anyhow. My brother Has an Orra (sx i think)....80$ range, which has been a good real for him so far. Im a big believer in the braid/fluoro leader for heavier applications, can cast well, knot is strong and easy (alberto knot is what i use) and can feel everything. Plus, it lasts for at least a few years on your spool. On my lighter spinning gear, i use 4lb mono and respool often.
  8. better luck than ive had around that stretch! Nice catch!
  9. Fished the byrnes mill dam on the big yesterday (no walleyes) water was up and moving pretty good and quite muddy. Not what I was hoping for.
  10. I need to buy a bunch of those worms now!!! Haha jk I totally agree old plug....play to your stregnths. Use what you have confidence in. I bring waaaayyyyyy too much tackle with me every time I go but only end up using two or three lures if that.
  11. Over the years my family and I have caught a few in August deep on crawlers in the kimberling area. Guess a few can manage to survive down deep.
  12. Hell 1 fish per hour is a good haul for me anyime of year unless im perch jerkin. You guys r just too good at fishing.
  13. Looks way awesome, hopefully they still swim at a much slower retrieve!
  14. I love how all the tackle websites are advertising all these underspin jigs on their front page since the classic. Like anyone can take an underspin jig and a fluke and repeat what the guy who won did. People will go crazy buying these things only to realize that the skill gap between the pros and them is enormous. He is probably the best in the world at fishing underspins. Im afraid that we all go too crazy trying to learn too many techniques. If you pick a few techniques and get very good at those youll spend less money and be a better fisherman. Im guilty of it too....buy the latest and greatest lure thinking its the magic bullet, only to use it few hours, put it back and grab your Keitechs (insert...jig/spoon/crank/senko/whatever your go too is). I have sooooo many lures for every different situation that could possibly arise, yet in most of those situations I just reach for 1 of 3 things.
  15. Love RC STX....they flat work....although i have no comparison to the megabass baits as ive never fished a real one, but at 8$ a pop im not scared to fish with them. Im pretty sure we all over think color....its a minnow bait, buy one that looks like a minnow. 20 people and 20 "best" colors. Personally i always use baits with just a thouch of purple....so clearly those are the best haha. Use your favorite, im willing to bet thats the color that will work best for you. Megabass does have awesome paint jobs, i bet all of the colors you currently have will work great.
  16. How does the A rig affect big bass numbers in TR?
  17. Ill tell you bout 10-20 techniques that do NOT work. The only river ive tried for them ever was the meremac around st louis.....zero luck, yet i still try like a schmuck. Maybe one day. Good luck to ya though!! and after that go to stockton....
  18. The ones he sent me look great!! Got 50 cant wait to use em thanks dave!
  19. Family caught a few from kimberling over the years finshing deep with crawlers. They are in there!
  20. a touch of purple always helps me on stockton, for reasons i dont know. (maybe its in my head)
  21. That is one heck of a walleye! Wowzers! He guides for walleye only during this time of year with jerkbaits? Is that what right? Bass the rest of the year? I wanna hire him for a day, ive never fished upper bull, but would love the chance (or just watch him have a chance lol) at getting one that big!
  22. Great idea, and great walleye!!
  23. Ya, the 4th seems like a rough weekend. That said, I hired Gene Chapman (dont know if he even guides still) for a half day, several years ago. We had a pretty good day, including a 28lb fish. Nice guy.
