.I understand how you feel. I love it out here for more than just the fishing. I want you to know though It can be very expensive. besides your house if your lake front you got a seawall and a dock to worry about. Its not all peaches and cream I guarantee you that. I am 75 and its all getting to be a little to much for me. I am coming to the end of my time out here i am afraid.want to buy a place ?????

I bet it did. I a, just happy the transition period I hate is past me it is my worst fishing period. NOW I got to go to Ash grove and Springfield tomorrow then maybe just maybe I can get out Wednesday morning MAYBE. I can get in part of the day before we go to Herman. Then thursday I got to be in St. Louis for grandparents day at my granddaughters school. that is not really a HAVE TO DO THING I will be there. then Friday we get to baby sit. Then Friday evening back to Herman. And finally. home Sat just in time to join the masses that will be here on the water. It could have come at a better time.

I went out this morning for about a hour bass fishing because the crappie around the dock were not interested. I got 3 on a Carolina rig everyone of them were lying near something in about 10 to 12 ft of water. It was a pretty slow bite. I shook the rig a lot in the retrieve And that what worked just about always does for me when using the Carolina rig. I will wear you out pretty fast though. Came in and promptly caught 5 or 6 crappie for.lunch the best one was 15 " So it looks like things are on the verge of opening up. Even seen a few bluegill around my dock this afternoon. To me that is always a sing in the spring that the lake is coming alive.

I have sen it happen. it could be WIFI or other posting glitch problem. If you content was good I think that is what it might have been. I am sure Phil has monitors who watch the post but that would be pretty extreme behavior to delete someones post. Beside I have never known you to make what someone might consider a offensive post since in been on here .

You know if you people down there want to do something the way to go is through your US Congressman. A bunch of you need to get together and write a letter. You. got to tell them what they did and the hardship it will cause you. They ned to know. How silly it is for them to try to stop theft in this way. I can tell you that he may not even read it. His little helpers will send your letter to the Corp of Engineers and politely say " pease read the attached correspondence and formulate a reply so that I may reply to my constituent." Crappie sometimes remind me of Purple Martins inspecting a nesting site. They come in like they are checking the spawning area out and you can hammer them. Then they drop off for awhile and come roaring back later for the spawn. I always expect that.

I know the Army has access to some highly photographic equipment should be available to the Corp of Engineers. Cameras seem to catch a lot criminals in stores and gas stations. They would not even have to buy it. i am sure there is a lot of of units floating around in DOA. But then again there may be other reasons. I am sure the corp catches a lot of heat from locals. maybe too they feel like if they had cameras proper would be on there back about invasion of privacy.

Billfo.....I am trying to understand the grounding grounding requirements. I am thinking they follow the same as we have up here now. Do you have to ground the entire dock by way of a heavy green grounding wire to a off dock circuit break on a post that is connected to a copper grounding pod about 3/4 of a in in diameter. Driven down 6 ft into the ground. Up here your suppose to have an additional cut off switch up on the house. I have not install the last switch yet but I will in spite of thinking it is over kill since we might be selling. You can test your own dock anytime you want by using a electric tester. If there is a y current leakage you will see it on the tester. I assume the corp test the water around your dock for leakage as well. I do that every now and then.

Does the corp say you not have permanent down pick up pipe from the pump????? if you can all you ned to do is install a strainer with a check valve in it and you will not need anything else.

I do bot carry a gun but I do carry a canister of police pepper spray. I will not go to jail for burning somebody's face. trouble is the law. In Missouri your chances of going to jail are good and your chances for being sued for your every last possession are a whole lot higher. with the canister i can reach anyone coming at me at 15 ft. Iwas told that in the case of a violent crime there are so many legal precedences define such things as was it justified. Lot of snares in there.

That is good that they do that. It is much like we do up here. do you have a requirement fo a grounding rod and circuit breaker off the dock. I did not agree with every outlet being GIF protected at one time but I do now. we also ground everything metal including swim ladders to the dock frame that is grounded to the grounding rod up on the bank. Only thing they have seem to have overlooked is lift frames it would seem normal if your going to ground swim ladders

Yes they might do that. But I never seen them do it here. It might be a Corp requirement and also because of steep inclines. i do not have that I also water mine in as soon as it is put down. If i stay here a few more year ( and thats doubtful) I will be using anymore fertilizer. The whole lawn will be converted to perry winkle. It is a good alternate ground cover. that would be what I would do down there. But the problem is a lot more than lawns.

I wonder if you all really know how the mossy goo gets there. the area bill refers to is in the more populated area of Table Rock if i am correct. you got all kind of homes and businesses all over the place. That mossy goo comes from more than lawn some guy on the lake having a although it may very well contribute to it. A lot depends on the number and sized of trees on that lot. Lawn fertilizer for the most part does not run off the problem is it goes into the ground and the soils are such in this region that many of the nutrients are striped away from the plants by rain water before they can be utilized buy the surface plants. It then pass though and come up in the lake. But by far the worse thing is sewage. You might think it is the people in the homes around the lake are the ones responsible for all of it. I got news for you. When sewage enters the ground from any system it is stuck there. It will go into the rocky quaffers and from there it can and will travel for long distances. And through hydraulics it can even be forced upward. I can guarantee you as Table Rock develops lake front and otherwise your going to see more and more of that green slimy stuff. Ground water pollution is a major problem in this country. as much as a lot of people on here feel they are above things like LOZ. Your not your just newer. Myself I am on the M county County sewer district sewer system. I also do bot have green moss Dave. But i do have a award winning garden. Of course I can see your point Dave. I a surprised at you you know what will happen when you spray the stuff off especially on rock???? it will run into the lake and then kill fish I almost got a CCW permit but after looking at it from the legal perspective I decided it not to do it at least not in Missouri. Most of these aggressive fishermen would be doing something else years ago. But how many of those on here promote bass tournaments and the competitiveness they spawn in the in what was a relaxing thing to do. So what can you expect. I had a problem with one other fisherman and that was a guy trolling for white bass across a popular shallow point that os popular spot for a lot of people. This guy was trolling a path about 200 yards long and give trying to make people get out of his way. I like to search for my own fish I believe it is part of fishing. I do bot post any reports are share spot info on here. I do share it with a very very few locales even then I do not expect them to tell me exactly where and when and what of some spot. I would feel like They caught the fish not me. There also seems to be some some discussion about far way is breaking in front of you. I do not fish banks I fish spots. and if I do fish a bank it is of bo worry to me if someone pulls in a in front of me. 99% of the they will be fishing to fast anyway. I have had people come up to within a few feet of me in other boats then sort of go around me slow and start in again. It does not bother me.

The way I interpret what has been said here is that the corp is hot on the water pumps but does not have rules concerning the proper grounding of a dock with electric service.

there is bo reason any dock with electric service should not meet the code. On LOZ they must. We had our share of electrocutions up here from improperly wired docks.

every year in July they seem to show up in my area. I had bent the tying loop on the end of a plug and was was on the dock casting it trying to get it to run straight again. This thing I think was just swimming along and the line ran over his bill. the plug slipped up the bill and got stuck in the soft spot between the three bones just in front of the eyes where the bill starts. There was no great rush are flying into the air. It was more like havering you lure attached to the back of a boat drifting away. I have no idea how long it took to bring it in but I do not think it was 1/2 hr. As son as i was aware I had something heavy on there I lightened up and took my Time. I have caught 20 lb blues that have given me a worse battle than this thing did. This does happen more than many realize. I used to know a man at my locale Elks lodge that got one off his dock was over 80 lbs on a tail spinner while fishing for white bass. I do not really know for sure what the line test but I will guess it was about 10lb. This one was 48

Well of your coming back this weekend it should be pretty good. where I live on the gravois we suffered the blunt of that cold wind I was down on my dock a bit ago and caught 2 small crappie right from they were in before the storm and cold. I do not think they were greatly effected. and by Friday afternoon things should be back to normal. I will be in the area mostly just above and below Indian Creek in the afternoons Thursday Friday and Monday or anytime there is a warm rain going on.

i would not even have mention that on here. Sure it is a different but if it works for you fine . Many of those on here are more worried about the doing the in thing. So I imagine your going to hear all sorts of stuff and advise that will lead to your depleating your wallet.

Let me just say Bill a lot of fishermen are depending on the lure and not their skills with the lure. That is why in spite of going through that stage myself I mostly confine myself to a couple general categories of lures types and a few colors that I understand backwards nd forwards.
