yeah I know ot doesnt. Mine either but it is qction in these slow times. worst part of it is having them in the boat. they can be nasty in close quarters. Then again anything with 4 rows of choppers on eating end I Suppose can do that. That pair that stick out from the sides I think helps them captire pray. Those things can puncture a heavy work glove.

Wrench you need to bring you fly rod down to the area in front of Al Couches place. Biggest gar Ever caught ( 50" ) was in Bough bay I seen one surface about 5 ft from the front of my boat up by Al's i swear was was a good 5 ft and as big around as a football.

Well I only rarely watch movines I got Netflex and Amazon I am really into TV series made by made by the Brits. I think they do a better job, Less violence and the scenery and ba back ground are wonderful. Star war I will have to say for my favorite collowed by Avatar. Then there was The classic The Green Door Was first one I ever saw. Guess thats why its on my list.

Do not forget the birds Wrench. Remember that time you was working on something on the dock next door and that Egart caught and awllowed that bass that must have been 13 to 14 inches long. Anyone think they could not swallow something that big needs to see them stuff bluegill after blue gill down there gullet some still flopping.

I am a old trot liner myself. I know the thrill of picking up that line and feeling a heavy fish on there. But you should try to catch some with a rod and reel on a spoon sometime. That certainly can be thrilling. I used to do that a in late summer and fall when I could find them under schools of feeding white bass. Have caught some big ones doing that up to just under 50 lbs

We had a storm roll through here last night. Looks like morecof th same around here right now. Rainy dark days will put sonewhat of a damper on my planned Gar fishing this afternoon. It jas always been best forcme on sunny hot afternoons.

Line for Spinning reel
Old plug replied to DADAKOTA's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
brad s tuff on the roller bearing of spinning reels. I hav ised both Spiderwire and the slick type of Pro Braid. for pitching and flipping sinko type stuff around docks over cables etc. . I can assure you Spiderwire is trash when it comes to taking any abrasion. Yes its cheaper but that is the only thing it is good for is saving you money. -
it is nothing more than a piece of nylon rope doubled overand tyed off at the head woth stiff to form a small loop where you can toe you line. I put a steel leader about 6-8 inches long on the front then you just unravel the nylon till its like one of these. You will need to male yourself a few because you cannot get most of it out of the gars teeth. Be careful handleing gar over 36" they can really thrash around in the boat. They also have a row of teeth that stck out diagonally to the rgular row in the mouth. Those things can really stick you. Had one onetime thrash me in a heavy pair of pants and it actually was just stuck to the jeans and was hanging there on those side teeth.

You might want to tie something like this on your line and tangle with a tackle buster Gar are easy to find and when they get up around 4ft. They will give you some fine thrills

Wrench it sound unbelievable that the owners of the property around that parcel of land have not claimed it thriugh squaters rights years ago. If it is still loose go to the county court house and hve them look it up they will have the taxes due on it. And even if it is a large sum they ill ingoshiate it down.

i fish near the main body of the lake all summer and do very well. I fish only a couple hours a day mostly in the evening feed period. The only differance is I am doing it at 20 -25 ft. I can guarantee you it can be done in my 18 ft targa but it would not be a good idea to do it in a bass boat. bass bout could get swamped.. Wakes will effect you and your boat far more than it does the fish. I work certain groups of docks near the mouths of large coves mostly.. I will second what Wrench said about brusy not being required. None of those dock are working the past couple of days. I believe were just in one of those funk periods where they do not want to play with our toy artificials. I have had a lot of fish coming in to hit and nip it and thats it. As of to say " I gave it a tiny taste and it is not forage " But i am cery confident that it will be back sa,e time and same place within a couple weeks.

whT ever you choose be sure you find out how many fses there are in a trailor harrness. I thught there was only one (thinking itvwas sonething simple like us old farts understand. checked the fuse on myblittle Ranger and it was fine. still no power sp took it to a dealer thinking tgere was a break somewhere way up inide the harness. Tirns out for was not 1 fuse but theor are 3. One 15 amp in the cab and 2 pther 71/2 under the hood one for left and th other for rght side. -
i have to think on LOZ water temperture as applied to LOZ in general does not tell tell you a whole lot. Some bass live deep and some shallow. Then there is the shaded docks that cool the water under them. Also LOZ bass are great ones for suspending. In any case none like sunshine on them except in the winter.
-
i am interested in hearing what you found out about the motor. It might be right therecunder the prop line wrapped on there or something with the shore pin
-
sometimes it can appear as some species are taking over. last couple of years gar were all over LOZ. This year I have not seen many. I did see one up in Soap that must hace been a easy 4ft. would love to catch him. They as fun to catch. Another Species that looked like it was crowding out other types was the Kentucies in LOZ. Very few around here this year. From the looks of the Largemouth this year I would not be aurpeised if they were bot foraging on them.
-
Only time a Drum might fool me that its a bass is in the Spring when they hit jigs in bassy areas in that time before the bass are jumping Rest of the year they are pretty loggy.

Sote fshing sawing bass will get more bass eggs destroyed than anything by bluegills in ver short order.

Line for Spinning reel

i cuerrenty use a drop shot rig with a bait caster about 99% of my time., It is not for everyone though. It can be very frustrating. -
Very true words as too the right time and place. I was convinced do to some of the action I found around my dock from mid afternoon to early evening that the best period had shifted to a few hours earlier. So I set off at 4:30. All I managed to do is get knocked off my boat seat by a wake. Nothing got started till about 6:30. I caught 3 keepers then 2 over 15" and one over 17" in a short peroid and was in by sundown. All of them around 25'ft. I will be out there again this evening. Lots of suspending fish. Been trying to get them to cooperate.. tried spoons and slow sinking plasic worm with no results This evening going to see what a big sinko might do .
