  1. After having a recent conversation with a member about pouring lead lures. I thought it might be interesting to see the proceedures everyone else is using.
  2. Do you buy your led in led bars. I am wondering about what you pay for it?   I get mine free from my daughter in law. It is old lead pipe. Some if it 100 years old. The remelting and cleaning can be a messy proces to say the least. I use wax as my flux to do that . Allegedly it is safer. I stick a long candle down in the lead to flux it.  If the heat is to high however the melted candle was will bounce to the top of the lead pot and pool.  it will almost instantly turn into a vapor rising stright up and ignite sort of a scary thing just short of a explosion. So I am thinking about looking for another scourse. One thing about the fluxing it sure makes a smooth pouring led at lower heat.

I get my lead from various sources, mostly old duck decoy weights and lead pipes. I might have to try the candle flux!

Yeah I have used that kind if stuff. That stuff is usully hard to the point of being almost brittle. That is because it us full of impurities, The wax will not change the hardness but it will draw out impurities in the form of slag ( It will surprise you just how much) that  will make it esier to pour. BE CAREFUL

I ran out of thread the other day and tied one with 10 lb braid. It worked in the pinch but the wrapping is hard to keep nice. If it matters. The one below was tied with braid. It is in Naturl color vein that constitues 99% of  my bass fishing jigs and plstic wormson this lake

  3. Not to worry it is set in concrete allready
  4. Just be careful with you Dr choice. i just went thru over 3 yrs of loosing a lot of sleep and limiting my fishing to 2 hrs a day and having to stop as early as August with a lot of shoulder and arm pain. Wife said I groaned a lot in my sleep. Well I was told I had this that ant other thing wrong with the shoulder as well as arthritis and rotary cuff issues etc. Never had any rehab. I went MISSOU about a month ago and was treated by a doctor professor up there that teaches only shoulders and elbows. Seems there was no big deal and no arthritis. He gave me a presciption for a rehab program. The third day of rehab I got a full nights sleep ad have ever since. I begin my 4th Monday. I am really really happy with my condition. I been going through this stuff all this time. The reason being no proper treatment. It is most likely a small rotory tear that I keep doing over and over. I hope I can get it healed and the strength built up to keep it that way. I intend to do my exercises regularly the rest on my life to maintain what I gsined. It gets away from you real quick when your almost 77.
  5. i realt do not think its cold as much ad heat. I know someone thay lives in Canada that told mr they are bad in thr steelhead rivers. wHat seemed tomget them here was that very hat summer we hd awhle back. It must have made something else accur because they just almost torally dispeared from the lake. All through The hot weather they were floating by the dock upsude down looked like a punkin seed. I have never heard a explanation for that from MDC.
  6. Well I see there are what looks lime 2 ridges on the hood that truck would be a Fird not over a year or so old. i would imagine he knocks the paint off the wioers driv around ithe bush. Bet he paid cash for it as Well.
  7. what that new truck your driving down the road cost you. I would say about 50,000
  8. On of the big arguments for keeoing the Rams here was it mwaht so much for downtown business. Bull. Some fan I imagine would come into town from other place and apposing cities. The big killing was inside the stadium on game day. Those prices were so bad it drove people away. Mush cheaper to just drive outside the blackout area. Lots of them come down for the weekend here and stay in there homes. Are with friends. The parking abd traffic is another problem. Then you can get shot druving on hwy 70. Nutty Nixon wanted all of us inth e state to pay for that stadium. Sounds to me like nother Pro Bass Shop deal tax pyer pid out loy of miney to get wildlife display built. Geeeee and just for Jonny The gypster. Well its time for me to get off this thing and all my rehab eexercises with the hope of returning to a good fishing seson bext year.
  9. ABKEENAN You have nothing to to be sorry for. The subject begged to be answered and you have a right to answer. i do not care what the thread was about.
  10. You all jest a bit slow is all wife grandpa taught me to use dinamite.
  11. Quillback----- WOW I bever knew that. That is rediculous. No one should be paid for something there ancestors were.
  12. Wonder if you flux your lead beforecyou pour it. I did not docthat until last fall. I was reading and found out candle wax was real good flux. It sure makes for a very smooth pour also leave a very shiney finish. I just poured these 5 about 15 minutes ago.

Glad to here you got out .i have not eben tried. I did go iutvin e yard with a casting rod and made 50 cast testing thr shoulder. I have been in rehab for three weeks. Seems as though i went through 3 1/2 years hell because It was as bad the doctor told me and never got the right tretment. It is nothing but a torn rotary  cuff that keeps tearing again because I never got the right tretment THANK GOODNESS for MIZZOU. My knee and shoulder Drs both teach up there. Went to 3 sessions of rehab and have not missed a nights sleep since.

  13. You got a good point there. And I agree with champ as well. i have fought my share of battles with the union. I have been on both side of that coin. Unions today are not good by any means. but on the other hand I do not trust bussiness either. Your to young to know what happens if bussiness is allowed total control. My father when down into the coal mines at the age of 7. So did his brothers. You know what ? He never made a dime. They lived far out with no store are shopping. So the coal company opened there own store at highly inflated prices. My fathers earnings went to help pay off the company store. Many weeks nobody in the family got money.they just got a reciept for how much they still owed the store. This was during the days of John L Lewis rying to organize the miners. The coal companies were like the steel companies they had such lo opion of the workers they kind of figured them as expendable. They along with the steel people gunned down for more minors than will ever be known. Working in a coal mine was outrught slavery. My mother was a seamstress. Got paid pennies doing peice work. Worked in a large room. Where they were locked in. The windows were kept closed because they did not want insects getting into the cloth. There were no cieling fans. In the summer it was so hot some women would get sick and pass out. The answer to that was to fire them because they were not tough enough. Mom told me trying to go to the bathroom was like begging. These kind of things are what is going on in China and other areas. It is very clear to me bussiness supports this kind of thing. I certainly do not want to see return of that in this country. The entire labor managment thing is a very complex issue that is only part of the over all problems with this country that is coming apart at the seams. The key is attitude. Its not going to change. But there sure is change coming. When it doe it ill make the civil war look like a skirmish.
  14. I have not had any in several years. Still fishing with worms in a clean creek like The huzzah was my way. They got real white meat but like others say you got to serrate them because of the bones.
  15. WOW I never knew that Qill. It certainly should not be that way.
  16. Well that would be nice. I must forewarn you however to keep the fire small and upwind from me. I tend to produce a lot of methane.
  17. Well something happens to them In the case of LOZ it occured in a blazing hot summef. I had been seeing these things flottihg buy the diat times that looked like ounkin seed. After awhile I got curios and scooped one up jt ws a zebra mussel. The die of webt on for several week hve no idea wht happened. But they were wiped out.
  18. I been out here for 25 yrs 24-7. In spite of that I only consider myself a transplant. There is a old saying you can put a country boy in the city but you will never put a city boy into the country. That is true. Country peole have a country soul. City people do not have soul unless your black. Wrench was saying that when he posted how you carry yourself. But it is much much more.
  19. Just what kind of payments are you referring to Quillback .???
  20. suckers rival crappie in my book.
  21. Hill Billy ------ most do not know who or what kind of person they are talking to when they say that. I have a friend with a big beard hanging down to his chest, a county twang. And runs around with a old beat up cowboy hat all the time. Well he might not appear as to what most the yuppies and pretty people think and do as they go through life persueing social acceptance and keep ing up with the Jone 's. He is just a real nice person. A very wealthy one to be a matter of fact.
  22. I sure agree with that. There was a small minority that supported the Rams. Everybody I knew up there was sure a year ago they would be gone. There was a sort of odd comment made by the Raiders owner however when he said "were going to be looking for a home somewhere". I personnaly do not support bringing anything into St luois. I have no idea the cost per year to have the Rams in STL. I do not think anyof these sports figures are worth what they are paid.
  23. I can do that wrench i need a warm garage first. It will not be hard we can peel the current finish. Get the person whos idea it was in the first place to rub it with steel wool then put about 4 or 5 coats of wipe polly on top. I think though I might be able to get the craft ladies around your place real interest in learning how to do this. That way you avoid any disturbing loss of fishing time. It also 100% blameless work in the case of a mess up. I can guarantee that. The short version of this problem Pat tells me is to make a pasty mix of baking soda and water and scrubthe table top with it leaving it set awhile then washing it off.
  24. Oh this is just a little spot he ties Flies. There is much much more. And little miss fashion plate can use it too very very well.
