What is the problem with kayak fisherman?
Old plug replied to OzarksExtremeOutdoors's topic in Table Rock Lake
the reason I am wondering is I is a very hard thing to prove and in Missouri we have no wake laws. If we did I would have been down on the dock long ago with a camera. I heard there was someone here on the Gravois tried to get someone fo reckless boasting and had pictures and what he got was a suit filed against himself. That is my only concern. Lot of these people got money to do that kind of foolishness. Some are even in thE legal system. -

We used to have a guy here at LOZ put big signs on his desk telling you not to fish the dock. when that did not work he put a big sprinkler up on the roof. MCD paid him Armens paid his rich @ss a visit and threatened to haul his dock away. Define hazards please ??? I would be interested to know. -

i have nothing against kayak fishermen. I see very few kayaks here on LOZ. You would need a lot of guts to sally forth on LOZ at certain times in a Kayak. There are somethings I feel those who want to go forth in kayaks should know. Large boats and cruisers in spite of being up higher off the water have a large blind spot in their near forward view. I do not think there is a law against it ,but.a kayak has no business out on a lake after dark or in poor visibility situations. I have seen this a couple times. I can recall seeing one posted on here with a white stern light on it. I have personally had two experiences with kayaks at night. One time with no lights what so ever and another time someone with red and green battery powered lights on the kayak. Even if you have bright enough and regulation lighting your still risking your life. There would be great confusion as your distance away at night on the water. i never worry about spots. I fish by the rules of right time, right place, and right way. Those things seem to be the holy grail that governs all spots. So unless I think it meets those rules I won't be there anyway. Besides most fishermen will be moving through the spot pretty quickly. -
Anyone interested can just pick up the app for My Radar and turn on the the earthquake switch. You can get reports as soon as one 1hr. It is a lesson in reality. I think Franking is wrong and controlled by the oil industry that controls everything else. There is so much going on right now this planet however that I doubt fracking will matter much. We are so close to war it about makes me want to cry sitting here with my young grandkids. I do not know or believe there is Any way in hell we are ever going to get out of the dangerous world. i think we might be starting over In a decade or so. pRovided there is anything left to start with. Allstar----- We are making ourself independent is what your saying. You need to look deeper most of that oil being fracked is being exported.

If I put on any color it would be Cubs. I would really like to see them go the distance. I think Chicago would go nuts if that happened. They Been underdogs for soooooooo longgggggg.

I did not spend more than a hour on my dock last week before l had to come up to St. Louis Thursday for Papa duties. I caught about9-10 like wrench said the other guys did 7-10 inches. Middle fatherhood seemed best. In shaded brush.

iam. About sure you have no idea what the hell your talking about.

I have seen a couple in the over 80 in LOZ. One caught on a trot line and the other on a jug. Catching big catfishes in LOZ is way different from the river. I wonder sometimes what might be down in those places I like to deep jig.

Base Ball was a real big thing with my mothers side of the family when I lived in St Louis. In spite of that I would really love to seethe Cubs win the World Series. If the Royals pull through it should be a very fine World Series. the Cubs though are awful pumped to go the way. Been a long time for them. Chicago would go nuts.

Kayser------ That be meant as a joke but it is not far from a fact.

Jerry-----maybe this was a bit before your time. But there was about 6 people would get together and fish for carp.soley for meat down at Clearwater. Those guys could turn out awful fine eating fish paddies from those things. The 2 times I went we took along a empty 14 ft jon. We motored up to where the black came in and chummed heavy with corn. Then would enjoy ourselves catching them on rod and reel. Both times I went they filled that Jon. They donated the patties to the local church and. It's food bank.

When my son was about 7 yrs old and started to fish. I wanted him to learn how to fight a fish. So off we would go some evening to Creve course park with corn and a small crappie spinning rod with 4 lb test line on it . He learned that lesson well. Later that year I took him on a trip to Clearwater where we were going to specifically fish for carp. He caught these in the photo on a medium action spin casting outfit with 8 lb test on it. He has never forgot the thrill of fighting a heavy fish on light line. He never panics and looses his cool. As a matter of fact he is down in Florida this week with his family. He is surf casting for large sharks or anything else that will give him a good battle

Old plug replied to fishinwrench's topic in Lake of the Ozarks
Bet if you called MDC here at the lake they would send someone out to look at it and take a sample. Or I can come by and we can take a few off and .i will take them down to Camdenton and show them the pics I have. I could give him your number to call. -

All I can say I hope they ar something other than zebra are God forbid quadra or whatever the other one is. They are a lot more problem than the regular zebra. They look very similar. They both float free like that also in larva stage. Suisaluki ------Do do those egg masses ever float around like that. -

I went and looked at them. The ones I seen have shrunk up and dried out. From the way they are stuck to the hull I am convinced they are zebra mussel's at the size they were they were would get into a intake outboard are I/O. Water does not need to be shallow for them to exist and spread. I used to pick them up on stuff deep jigging all the time in 40 ft of water. They all went away during a real hot summer we had sometime back. They were floating past my dock turned upside down. Looked like the water was ful of punkin seeds at times. MDC said then they would be a come and go thing. No idea what happened to them. No telling how long they had Ben drifting like that before something came fthrough them. Maybe that is why they appeared a little larger -

That first photo sure looks like a zebra mussel. Maybe they are in that stage where they suspend and attach themselves. I never knew they. We're that big though when they did. -
Me too wrench. I think some part of the problem is stagnation. Seems all the fish on my jigging high spots are very deep around the spots themselves. I think I see more of that when there is stagnantion

My weather map reports earth quakes every 24 hrs. For sometime I have been watching Oklahoma dancing earth from fracking. if they keep it up they are going to cause untold damage to a good sized part of the state. Foundation of anything can be messed up by vibrations. There was no less than 7 quakes around the Perry area 2.5 up to over 4 yeasterday. Seems like it is getting worse.

Depends on where you are and type and time of day. Figure mid 70's at trolling motor depth.

well I admit to being a dick. owner. It's a very old dick. It needs some work though. It keeping trying to sink downward. My wife thinks I should just go ahead and get rid of it.

I got to learn to check this IPad very closely. This is the newest version. You got to be ultra careful to check behind yourself. I never was any good at that. You should see the crap it puts out when I use the talking mode with it.

There is still acbitaround wrench. I remember seeing some down at Mill Stone a year are so ago fishing for crappie in the winter. As a dick owner I will take in awed over regular foam any day. Never heard of bouncing a lure off foam. But ?I have stuck a hook into foam a time oe two.
