It was so nice to meet you in person this morning Pete thank you for stopping. Makes this forum fun when you get to meet people.

My buddy caught his new personal best brownie tonight outta my boat. Was an awesome fight. This lake is in amazing shape!
-
Assuming correct however we caught several of these with the water off on micro jigs and mega worm’s yesterday to. Lots of nice browns in the lake if we don’t loose them to a flood in the next couple of years watch out!

Will do my friend. Safe travels.

Here for a few days. First day was a success had several nice browns today topped off with an awesome 24 incher

Lilley's Lake Taneycomo fishing report, June 1

absolutely. Best thing to do though is stop at Lilleys and get a map and have them talk to you about water levels and running certain spots. -
Favorite Taneycomo Water Level and Why ?
Travis Swift replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
My perfect day is 35 cubic or about half a unit in the morning letting me sight fish with a Megaworm from look out to fall creek, then at noon cranking to 2 units which is my absolute favorite for throwing a jerkbait which is what I would do until dark at which time I like the water off from 9 pm till daylight again to fish off the dock of wherever I might be staying. To much to ask for? -
They shut the gates off the night before we got here... Knew they would. Ugh. Variety of water from 1 unit to 4 all weekend. Whacked fish on home made jigs, mega worms, jerkbaits.. You name it, just have to adjust with the changing conditions. Had a blast as always!

What gives!? Flood gates @ 917.2??
Travis Swift replied to Phil Lilley's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
If I owned property I would take this over floods any day. I never thought I would see the day they changed their thought process but I like it! And like you I'm tickled to see the fish getting a shot of food and clean the moss out. I'm headed down thursday and was hoping they would still be open but doesn't sound like they will be. I'm hoping some shad come thru because my goal this trip is to catch a big brown on a big glide bait, can't wait to try it out! -
That's a heck of a bait to start with Mr. Babler. This was my first ever Chad Shad fish, weighed a shade over 7 pounds I was shaking like a leaf I was so excited... That fish and bite and the proceeding addiction has cost me thousands of dollars :)

I'm on multiple times a day just hadn't posted in awhile. I had caught a big fish and it died on me and I got blown up bad on here and other sites even though I did everything I could so I said the heck with posting for awhile. Nice to hear from you Marty hope you are good to my friend!

BTW Richie @MOswimbaitslinger @Moswimb8slinger is the most knowledgeable glide guy in the ozarks by far if he comes in here and tells ya something take it as the gospel.

I've been throwing the big stuff for years now, my suggestion is get over the sticker shock and just buy yourself some KGB stuff. They are local, stand behind the product and are amazing baits. And you don't have to be on a waiting list as previously stated, you have to get in on a "drop" or buy one second hand on any of the facebook pages for swimbaits or swimbait universe or ebay. I have 10 or so of them and haven't gotten many on a drop you just have to realize they are an investment and they are worth every penny!

This is a great question I was going to ask this week is how are DO levels from say the landing down just out of curiosity. I didn't know if it's only an upper mile or two type issue etc.

You can launch at the ramp above short creek that you asked about, a kayak for sure. At times it's gotten silted in and can be tough for a big boat and they have had to dig it out but it would be perfect for a kayak and it's nice slow water and shallow as well. I believe they have a self pay station and ask for a small launch fee. If I were doing what you are that is without a doubt the ramp I would use for a Yak. Nice quiet neighborhood with good parking.

I would try it in a heartbeat but it's a soft bait so it's not legal in the restricted zone

Thanks DJ and yes sir I went to green Costa's several years back. Make a big difference for sure. I've seen quite a few of those submarines but this maybe was the biggest. It was certainly my best look at one, usually its just a glance but we were within about 3 feet of him for a good long while a couple times. I hardly even casted at him like a dummy as I was more excited just to see him and was pretty much in awe. I figured the gig was up by that point anyway. Gets the ol' heart beating knowing they are still in there!

95% of the time we were fishing in the restricted zone. Sight fishing with Megaworms and Micro Jigs. 2 pound test line with a 6.5x tippet or straight 4 pound fluorocarbon is a must. I would say we averaged 40 in a 4 hour morning and that is very slow for what we are used to. Not being arrogant just being honest. We come 5 or more times a year for the last 35 years though so we do have extensive experience. Light line is a must and honestly the fluorocarbon and or tippet truly helps these days with the pressure these fish see. What Seth posted is a great info as well, he knows exactly what he is doing and will back up my number estimate as well. Our microjigs were sculpin/amber with an orange head or sculpin/wine with a green pumpkin head. I make and tie them and tend to use slightly different colors to give the fish a different look than they usually see. Megaworms anything bright, polarized glasses is a must as it's a 100% sight fishing deal on that.

I took all my big bass stuff outta my boat for this trip and just had trout stuff trying to relax. I immediately regretted that decision when I saw him. I'm sure you could catch a big one on one but you would have to dedicate a lot of time to it. If I ever get to move there I'm going to do that though!

Got there Wed afternoon and left Sunday morning. Both boats averaged 25 to 50 fish a morning which is pretty slow for us. Still had a blast and caught some good fish. Had a couple over 20 inches, lost a 6+ pounder and a bunch of 16 to 18 inchers. Also had about a dozen browns for the trip. Fish fought super hard for this time of year. We caught them mainly sight fishing megaworms and on microjigs. Big excitement the last day as we were floating along in some shallow water in the restricted zome and I looked down and saw what we call a "submarine"..... It was a 30+ pound brown trout. Freak of nature big, I thought they were gone from there but I saw it with my own eyes twice. It was fixated on a dead bow on the bottom and kept coming back to it like it was a prize. It finally spooked and a few seconds later my buddy in the other boat hooked a 16 inch brown and the giant submarine brown went for it and tboned the 16 incher twice trying to eat it as he was reeling it in! It was exciting to say the least. Be back in a couple months, can't wait! On a side note we played golf down there for the first time on our man trip and we played Branson Hills. It was so amazing we played it twice. Cut in to our fishing time but what a beautiful course!

He's dropped the price on this to $11k or would trade it straight across for an 18 or 19ft aluminum Tracker style boat

I'm ready for Taney to get that State Record Rainbow title soon!

Morning OAF friends. I have a friend selling his Triton TR20. I'm going to post a link to the details below. Nice used boat, I rode in it last week and it starts great, runs awesome and is smooth as can be. Only reason he's selling it is we come to Taney all the time and he wants aluminum for that. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/601048735008160?rid=6125537407476386&ad_id&rt=1&refID=0&refType=0&referral_code=commerce_attachment
