I've been checked 3 times in the last couple years, at 3 different places (Stockton, Capps creek and Spring river). The agent that checked me at Spring river came out of the woods along the bank quite a ways from any public access. Startled me when I heard a voice from the other side of the river behind me, thought I was the only one out there so I paddled over and said "where the heck did you come from?" He was nice enough, but seemed disappointed that I had a valid license. It doesn't bother me a bit to get checked, it's actually kinda nice to see at least some enforcement out there, and I've got absolutely nothing to hide.
The ones at Stockton (2 agents at the boat ramp) got in the boat after we pulled it out and counted the fish in both livewells.
