  1. you'll have better luck next time, I've had some luck on Bull with a tiny torpedo for those schooling fish, it's about the same size as those little shad are. A spook might not "match the hatch" right now.
  2. lol people used to put boxes of rice in my old boat because of the yamaha
  3. those little gills are so much more agressive than their parents, it's hard to get a big bite sometimes, sounds like you had a nice lunch though
  4. hey at least you caught some, 96 degrees, sunny, not too windy, not exactly a walleye day, so don't "sweat" it ,lol
  5. that's why their motors sound so good
  6. good fish, gotta love that summertime topwater bite !!
  7. thanks for the help, most of the time they bite and then turn away for an easy hook up
  8. rps, I have a hard time hooking walleye when they quickly rush the harness from behind , grab it and continue to swim toward the boat.faster than what I'm trolling. . Any sugestions? Anybody? I use long harnesses 4-5' long tied to what's basically a carolina rig
  9. hang in there, things should start winding down some when the kids go back to school next month
  10. Yeah that wouldn't make any sense. I keep the jon or canoe in the truck for these "quick trips" There's better fishing to be had out in the lower lake areas for walleye.
  11. it is a Heddon, long pauses between twitches over deeper water, faster twitches w/ short pauses in the shallows
  12. Not much of a post, but it's all I know If you've been reading my reports you already know I've been doing the majority of my fishing early and/or late. That is still the case, and it has been a really good summer so far. There's still plenty of fish catching action away from the main lake traffic. Fishing was good both days ,I never saw another boat where I was fishing. A green monster (custom color) tiny torpedo has been catching bass for me on previous trips, and again this morning. Caught several bass on it today, 3 were keepers ,before 8 o'clock. About 9am as the sun was getting higher I put away the monster and caught 3 short walleye ,4 barely legal crappie, bluegill, and some more short bass with a pearl swimming minnow on a chartreuse jighead in 7-10fow. on a steep channel bank. Off the water by 10:30am both days , everything was put back
  13. Missouri has some of THE "softest" alcohol regulations in the country, no surprise to me MO made a top ten list for the most boating accidents. Some of MO liquor laws are a joke to me.... and I'm not laughing. These outdated regs. need to be reviewed and updated for everybody's safety on and off the water.
  14. http://www.in-fisherman.com/2014/06/17/deep-panfish-tackle/ good read
  15. 660.67 Bass fished from 8pm-2:00am in the Oakland and Pontiac areas. Started off good w/ slow moving topwaters until it got dark then the wor/jig bite really turned on! Caught them on green pumpkin worms, and orange jigsin 20-30' on random points A very slow , stop and go drag got the most bites early in the eve, as the night went on they wanted a more aggressive hopping and shaking presentation. Caught lmb, smb, and KY bass. It was a really good night !
  16. 661.6 good stain Fished a couple hours before work. Went to the back of a major creek and threw a Green Monster tiny torpedo and a blue/chrome little lipless crank. Caught spots, brownies, and lmb's. Everything was shallow,5' or less. Had 4 keepers. Two spots 13" and 15". Two lmb's ,one was 16" the other was 18". Bait everywhere! Thousands of baby shad in little schools cruising around. Little and big bluegill some where on beds, big schools of minnows. Lots of new bass about 1 1/2 -2" long. Keep an eye on the lake level, the shallow bite is good when the lake is rising.
  17. a few weeks ago I heard some guys talking about using downscan and side imaging to locate bedding gills....
  18. Don&Barry show on youtube had a pretty decent topwater bite at TR those two are always catching em, lots of fun to watch Pete Wenners said he was catching some good bass on a buzzbait last week too.
  19. kinda looks like a Seven (7) Marine motor
  20. WT 81 662.45 Got some good reports again yesterday. Brown bass are still eating that grub ,,30-40 fish in 4 hrs. is the word. Topwater is still good. Mouths of main lake coves w/ shad present has been the place to be early. Some really nice jaws being caught this way.Try smaller lures in perch/bass/shad patterns. Mid day fish on top around steeper banks with trees with a bigger plug.NIght fishing for bass has been decent , jigs and spinnerbaits on the bluff ends 12-25'. No walleye report so far this week. See the previous post. good luck I'll be back on the water before long !
  21. that's one big meanie !
  22. thanks guys anybody seeing any schooling fish on top out there lately? The bass spawn should be about finished and they oughta be bunching up now.
  23. the guys i talked to were fishing major creeks, Gulley, Big,Spring, and up the Theodosia arm.
  24. lake level 662.11 WT has dropped some with the recent rainfall now showing 78 surface temp Wed. morning. Getting great reports from fishermen visiting the area Local guide trips are reporting big numbers of smallies with the occasional bonus eye. Try just inside points on either side in 12-25 fow. with the grub. A few crappie are being caught on minnows in the deep brush piles, but it's been feast or famine. White bass are hitting topwater also near the mouths of creeks. It's pretty much over by 8am though.
