  1. Planning a night trip first week of october and was wondering if there is a particular time of night that is best or a particular flt setup that works well in the dark. I have tied up some custom sculpin patterns and have traditional taney stuff as well. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance
  2. as for being an oddity i found an arkansas study of the eleven point and it lists the skipjack herring as aresident. Not only in the eleven point but current and other shared rivers between mo and Ar. It was from 88 though. Google skipjack herring in Ar and its a pdf
  3. Ham and johnsfolly werent you trying to catch these on your trip?
  4. Skipjack it looks like
  5. Another rainy day a the creek monday. Caught about ten or twelve mostly small rainbow. With one ten incher thrown in. I micro nymphed ths time using 18 baetis imitation i concocted and zebra midges on 18 and twenty. Caught an aggressive two incher on the zebra. Saw some bigger fisher but the water cleared up and they were spooky. I need to branch out and try a new river but crane is so peaceful that its hard to turn down a walk down the tracks . Lower access wasnt very productive this outing vs last time. Almost time for a night trip to taney to stalk some browns so no more crane til winter... maybe
  6. Nice work guys. Hopefully you did well this morning.

  12. Made it back out there again and threw panfish popper that resembles a small fro. On my five weight. Bass and big bull gills tore it up for about four hours. Sawseveral othErs out there catching a few but nothing major. Didnt fish with spinning gear bit about thirty minutes. Switched to fly rod and walked along flats pn far side. Didnt take long for the big gills to find my fly. Then the bass caught on. Total of about twenty bass and countless blue gill. Saw an old man in apond prowler catching some decent bass as well. Looked like he was throwing a creature bait of some kind. Nice day little rainy. . .
  13. Glad you got down there and had some luck.
  14. If you were thinking of when woukd be good to go to crane this week with all the scattered storms would be the best Bet. They have gotten some decent rainfall and that always getsvthe fish biting.
  15. Its an awesomw spectacle whwn they come clean out to bust one.
  16. It seems strange that he told you to remind him of the price upon arrival...this indicates a fluctuating price scale controlled by how much he likes you or the conversation you had with him via telepHone. My guess is you will get there tell him the quote price and he will decide thats too much and tell yoi 15 . He probably has a lot of idiots call and the 30keeps them at bay.
  17. Its dragonfly time again. They are hatching like crazy! I have seen bass and trout coming all the way out of the water.
  18. Bank using half a green pumpkin senko weightless and a small sparkle minnow swim bait. Both caight fish . Earlier the better. Going to try topwater and fly rod next time. Thy were coming all the way out of the water for dragon flies And frogs. Bite died off around noon. Really have to cast as far ahead of you as you can . along the grass line throw weightless worm and twitch pause. Yoyo worked on the swim bait.
  19. Had a couple hours yesterday morning so headed out to talbot. Very hot early but managed fifteen bass ranging from 6 to 16 inches. A couple big sunnies as well. Quiet out there only person ther. All morning. Gotta love weekdays!
  20. .2sheds, the water that i think you are speaking of isnt that deep. If you walkthe south edge against the bank. Unless you walked all the way down that grass trail which is way too far down. I walked about three quarters of a mile then cut throigh the woods yo the water. Im pretty sure that if you continue down the south sid edown there it gets skinny again about half mile down.
  21. i fished tuesday in a thunderstorm. I caught tons of fish! Three of which were over fifteen inches. One was 18 " and put up a crazy fight. I fished lower access early and managed ten down there. Thats where the eighteen incjer came from. then moved up to the trestle bridge and walked down . I caught about ten more down there including the smallest trout ive ever caught. Ot was maybe three inches long. Also hooked into a real monster but barbless hook came unhooked and expletives flew. All and all good day its always better when itrains and murks up the water. Prince nymph was killer and had a few on midges.
  22. Id say close to two pounds maybe a hair over. Caught . Lot that size. Like wrwnch said a three pounder would be 18 or better in length.
  23. Thinking of hitting the lower portion of the conservation area tuesday. If i do any good ill post some pictures ofvthe area and maybe a video for people to see what its like now.
  24. I have been trying to get down there at night for a long time. I even tied up some big sculpin streamers and leeches but work keeps me from it stil. . .
  25. Hit the creek with a new flyfishing buddy. . . Scared a lot of fish and caught six total. Creek is.gin clear and low. Prince nymph in 12 and beadhead p n p in 18 were the go toos.
