  1. I tie only stuff I ise as well . the deer hair os from a deer we shot and I always have maribou. I work on them in my spare time . I get the simple thing though. Nothing beats a bugger or closer.
  2. I was a bit hesitant to get into the big stuff and complex ties but these are a snap now that I have an idea what I'm doing. I like them mostly because they sink below the surface quickly but don't just drop and they have a lot of movement. Easy to cast and retrieve as well.
  3. Figured out how to spin deerhair heads and it has made all the difference. The dubbed heads just sink a little too fast.
  4. We have caught tons up there over the years. Right where the slough runs in above the bridge. And along the rock ledge that runs down the middle above the bridge. Big ones Above the island as well.
  5. same on the browns two were stocker sized and one was about thirteen inches. Thought it was bigger at first it really took off then it just gave up.
  6. I missed 4 browns caught six rainbows then moved up to dam to harass Buzz. Watched him catch a rainbow or two then went up to the spillway. I caught 3 browns and a nice rainbow up there. Started the day throwing a mini sex dungeon then switched to the ole stand by olive wooly bugger and even caught one on a stone fly nymph. Nice day
  7. Buzz you caught 9 bows lol don't be modest 😂
  8. Hope the rain isn't bad
  9. Wasn't sure with the covid 19 flaring up around here that you were going to be done there. . . i was going anyway now that I have the wife convinced I have A tradition lol
  10. It's time again!
  11. I'm with you on this one rick lol
  12. I have had bad experiences with people down there doing similar thing to this. They are disrespectful to other anglers so the fact that they are treating fish in inappropriate ways is no shock. I have had guys walk right out in front of me and start fishing. I have had guys walk through the middle of an outlet that five people were fishing and not even care.
  13. This is freaking hilarious... who are you? I'm the nerd for sure so is @johnsfolly

  15. Dad has caught a few catfish out of the niangua above Bennett where that big rock is. Crappie as well. If you get down by tunnel dam there are a lot of catfish and other big species.
  16. . Started out at sunup at ball field and walked down the tracks as the water is super low and clear and the upper and middle would be bone dry. First hole had a couple lookers at the barely legal but too small to eat. Then switched to olive and black bugger and game on. Managed a few here and there but nothing too hot. Switched to double nymph drop shot rig with frenchie and scud and caught five or six dinks in short order . The kid I took with me caught his first trout on this one. Kept moving as water was very skinny and any wrong move ou r loud noise spooked the holes. Made it to the spot where I have best luck and was rewarded with merely good excercise as the fish here were less than willing. So started walk backup. On the way we noticed that the spots we came through on the way down that we void were now teeming with fish. Most of them keying into small stoneflies that were just every where. Size 18 little brown stones I estimate. I tied on closest thing I had... old reliable elk hair caddis. Very technical casting and approach lead to first dry fly fish. This would be repeated consistently the test of the walk all the way up into the park. Nice fish were moving on the fly but a lot of refusals from the big girls. Overall probably a 20 plus fish day. I am going to have to tie up some smaller caddis as I think this would really have slayed them .
  17. The hopper wasn't the trick today unfortunately... however, the elk hair caddis got it done thos afternoon and the size 8 wooly bugger in black and olive worked this morning. The frenchie was a good producer late morning when they wouldn't eat. Again had to drop shot to get them to eat . The afternoon brought a rather dramatic little brown stone fly hatch that the size 12 caddis simulated very well. I think a size smaller would've been even better . They were very where
  18. In all seriousness I use the two fly rig mostly at taney. I never get tangled or hook myself though 😁
  19. Solo as a dry. Would make a decent dropper floater if you tied in a hot spot so you could see it. But at crane just as a dry fly since it is so small and narrow. Buggers are the best way to go but cricket pattern will get it done if they are eating dries
  20. I'm heading down thursday anyone is down say hi. White Chevy step side
  21. Not a dry dropper wrench but a drop shot . I tie an double over hand knot where the point fly would go or I use a heavy bead head fly . Then about 12 inches above I tie a blood knot and attach a dropper loop with a perfection loop and put an unweighted fly or lightly weighted dependent on current flows. Crane I use two flies bigger water I use two flies and a split shot dropped off the eye of my point fly. Very effective for short line work. Dry dropper is rare but I will use it occasionally on crane .
  22. I tightline mostly euro style. Use drop shot alot and two flies always. For dries use 16 to 10 caddis same for hoppers or cricket. Buggers are best at size 10 to 6. Big flies work well
  23. Interesting stuff mr. Lilley. . . Hope they pay better attention going forward wouldn't want a bunch of big dead fish
