  1. Any time sir. Then. Can pick your brain on taney night fishing strategy !
  2. Hit the creek around 730 and water was In great shape! Headed down the track from the ball fields as usual and made my way down to my favorite spot. Caught a few small ones on the way stripping the bugger down and across but was on a mission to Czech nymph some spots I had inspected and had good luck last time around. Man I had a great trip. Fifteen total most on that Frenchie and the rest on a beadhead size 16 olive nymph. Really struggles to move the big ones though. Hooked one about eighteen incher that did a triple flip and ran straight at me dropping the hook at my feet but mostly eight to ten inchers. Tried a few dries with no luck and gave up around one . Love this place
  3. Congrats.! Next time try going down stream from the trestle bridge ... lots of great spots and remember that small fast water holds more trout than you would think. Great trip and hope you get down again soon.
  4. Haven't even seen a large mouth bed yet. Was on niangua the other day and don't see any smallie bed either. It's almost time though.
  5. I grew up on this river and muddy is not good at all. Falling water can be good at the tail end if the weather cooperates. Almost spawning time as well so that will move them
  6. I fished the river before for rainbows nymphing. Just really trying to get into this whole streamer game. Thanks for the advice guys!
  7. Any shriners out there Interested in fishing this tournament or anyone wishing to donate for a tax deductible great cause call Bill Holley 417-489-6336 . Registration is that Friday Bill can tell you where and when. Call if you have questions he is really nice guy.
  8. How is streamer chucking in April and May on nfotw?
  9. Same liberal bs as everywhere else. But I disagree with the guys saying he's not going to buy his favorite brand because they are expanding their reach . Women are awesome and i welcome them to the sport . Just apprehensive about the alienation of men that has been steadily increasing across our soceity. From decreasing recess time causing little boys to get in trouble more. To me too and the like. It's a fine line people are walking ...
  10. It's a great place billet. I'd say my favorite.
  11. Hit the creek monday morning for a few hours. The water Is in excellent condition and gin clear. Saw lots of bugs coming off just not in large quantities yet. Saw little black caddis and tan caddis, saw big Brown May flies and tons of midges. Small fish were keying in on the midges laying eggs and caddis bouncing of the surface of ruffles. Most of my fish came on bigger in olive and twenty incher stonefly like pattern I tie. Had one on Frenchie as well. The big fish were right on the bottom in deep pools with heavier current and gravel bottom. Used Czech style nymphing in these areas and had good results. In the long stream flats and slow runs a long distance longleader cast was a must and had good results. I had to big trout take coming downstream and run right at me though and spit the fly in my lap. Shorter rod to blame here. Took my seven foot three weight this time. All in all good outing in the middle section of crane creek.

  13. Bigger flys are best. Bugger patterns with beadhead and Prince nymph are good. Weight is important it is a lot of deep holes now with heavy current. When the water reaches summer levels it will be less critical. I went today and had good luck with Czech style nymphing a bugger and a stonefly. Saw lots of midges and little black caddis. Some tan caddis as well. Few taking the stones but most subsurface. By may the caddis bite will be good.
  14. Almost look like Atlantic salmon
  15. Figured they'd be up there around s curves as well...
  16. How'd you do?
  17. Going Monday with my buddy he has never been fishing before and is twenty three . Should be fun
  18. Spring has sprung here in sw mo and I am seeing hatches of big mayflies and even saw a caddis on my local creek the other day. Looking to hit crane soon and hopeful the hatches will persist with this bipolar weather...
  19. For sure. Simpler the better and cheaper! Bugger and g gnat are great and simple to tie.
  20. Taylor visually saw it
  21. Water dropped over a foot from 7am to 2pm clarity was perfect for whites.. dirty but like you said no chocolate milk. Slack water cruising was the Pattern for me. Sorry about your boat.
  22. Same here caught twenty three today total. Kept eight to eat. Fly rod worked good as well. Clousers stripped slowly on bottom. Slow roll on the road runner.
  23. Looks like it's dropping back out . Got up to 7 1/2 ft at 1050 cfs but back to five feet and falling
  24. Gotta start somewhere!
