  1. Saw this while driving to the lake and got hopeful. Could not find em. But, I rarely can. Someone did though, saw a similar mess of left overs at the dock when we left. We fished out of Viola.
  2. I have the most luck with the one that has little purple on it. Similarly my buddy usually runs the Rapala that has a little purple. It also seems to be harder to find, which tends to be a good sign. Haven't been able to try the fire tiger. The one I bought loops in circles, which is ..... frustrating.
  3. Are you guys running the Yumbrella 3 hook style or? I'm not sure mines ever caught anything other than sticks... maybe I'm using it wrong. About 50% of casts it gets hung on itself and doesn't swim right.
  4. Mexican = Cilito Lindo on Campbell Specifically the Mis Favarito Nachos BBQ = St. Georges at National & Battlefield Specifically the Spicy Chicken Sandwich but all is good. Chinese = Canton Inn Small parking lot though. Someone already said Coyotes for wings, and they're right. Arris's Pizza on Republic Road Specifically the Greek Gyro. Sushi = Mijuri lunch special $10 with drink Special occasions we'll go to Zios or Di Giacintos. Edit: And from you recommendations here we tried FD's tonight. It was great. Good portions / price. No waiting to seat. Will go back.
  5. Yeah, the weather didn't really cooperate. Water was 41°, and this little guy was our only player. Rained and, we're gonna come back and try again.
  6. Thanks! Worth the extra hour drive vs the lost bridge area?
  7. We're headed to Beaver for the first time tomorrow. Been reading the Striper advice sticky. Hoping to catch our first striper, but catching anything is a good time. Any advice on where to put in, or run to would be great. Coming from the Marionville / Aurora area. Thanks!
  8. We run an old '77 Starcraft. I've definitely got interest in some tournaments and such, but without a live well idk if it's an option.
  9. I have a muzzle loader and / or a bow that I wouldn't mind trading for or toward a nice little flat bottom, canoe, or any little cheap boat I could mount a trolling motor to and get on Fellows. Since our 85hp Starcraft is "too big". If you've got something sitting upside down in your back yard you wouldn't mind trading off please shoot me a message. Thanks
  10. Last summer was my first summer with a boat. Picked up most tips from fishing reports on here. We had decent luck trolling Rapala SR7 / Norman / Flicker Shads. And throwing the Ned rig, Baby brushhog, worms, and Bomber7 at points docks and transitions from gravel to chunk. The Ned rig has far and away been the most productive lure for me personally. I'm going to try not to rely on it so heavily this year and improve my skill with other types of lures. And focus on catching other species.
  11. My rock crawlers catch looks and hang time. Like Nocturnal FabWorx on Facebook  On a serious note, I've had good luck with a Bomber7.
  12. Saw the Lew's team and the boat out at Academy Sports. I've got my ticket. Also shared this over on Pirate4x4.com. which has 275k+ members. So, hopefully bring in a few tickets.
  13. Another vote for Gibbs in Republic MO. Worked there for a few years in college. Good people. Quality work. They also do ultimate linings truck bed liners. Puts other brands to shame, thick and rubbery. Have had mine for close to 10 years now (wow time flys) and it's not chalky or sand papery like most others get.
  14. No sir. We were pretty surprised.
  15. Yeah it's a '76 SS. We're really liking it, we put a new floor in it and did some repairs to the Merc 85 and it's done well for us so far. This is our first summer with a boat.
  16. I found em, they're at Truman lake. Only one of the day actually and I got it on a ned rig.
  17. Yeah, I've caught them on crawdads as a kid but seems like it was July. We tried a trotline with minnows, liver, shrimp, and dough. Got zero, nothing even stole the bait. Likely put the night fishing on hold for a while, keep coming up skunked.
  18. Anybody catching any cats on TR recently? We tried some worms and live blue gill a few weeks ago and only hooked a few nice large mouth. Going this evening and looking for tips on what and where. We typically put in a kings river, but have done shell Knob and cape fair before. Thanks!
  19. So I've never made the switch from spinning to bait casting. But I've heard good things about the Lew's reels. Main reason I've never switched is, I'm cheap. But $100 with a $20 rebate doesn't seem terrible. Is this deal worth picking up? Is there a better bang for your buck? http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lews_Speed_Spool_Casting_Reel/descpage-LSP.html
  20. It's not really that slow. Pitch it to the shore and let it sit for a minute or so then give it a pop. Usually by the second or third pop it's fish on. We got into a Cove yesterday where I caught probably 4 for 4 cast on the first pop. It's not a a challenging technique for beginners to pick up, and typically delivers good fun in short order.
  21. Fished the Ned till about midnight with no real results after dark for us. Will definitely give a black spinner bait a shot. Even considered some live bait options, we're not particular about catching any specific species. Typically have to work in the AM/day so evening and night is what we have to work with.
  22. Yeah, bled all over. Wasn't gonna make it. Gonna eat it as I can't waste it. 20" but idk the weight, have to buy a scale in case I ever get another worth checking. I haven't kept a fish in years so I've thrown back 100 to 1.
  23. Had a good day with the Ned rig again today. Got a late start and really shut off for us once it got really dark. What are you catching fish on at night? Had a good sized bass, unfortunately died in the hold before we realized was a bleeder. Sorry guys, I rarely keep fish so I don't carry fish dope etc. Had some encouragement to mount it, but went ahead and cleaned it as that seems like the least wasteful option. Thanks
  24. Only took a few on Saturday, figured I'd try it out and probably not fish the right spots. Had to loan one to my buddy, and we caught over 20. Which is quite good for us. Looking forward to going back now that we have a better understanding, hoping we can double that number.
