  1. Wondering about getting a new led green or white myself. I'm still using the old floating headlight. Must be 30 years old. Sucks the life out of a battery way to fast.
  2. Glad you got a few good ones. Hey, were they spawned out? Still have not found them shallow up around the islands. Bummer about you hat, it was in most of your pics.
  3. Howdy Mo. Welcome to retirement. Enjoy the H@#$ out it!
  4. Maybe they will finish soon and start heading back my way. Ready for some bridge nights.
  5. Out today too. Several striper guides around the islands. I joined them for one pass. Marked plenty of fish but no luck for me. After an hour the guides were all gone. Spent several hours in Ventris. WT 62-64. Caught about 12 bass with only 1 keeper. Out from banks in 10-15 fow. All on ned. Several small crappies and bream too. Nice day.
  6. Stump. that is a stout one. You rock!
  7. Small world Mike. Had coffee & Krispy Creme next to Matt. Can't win em' all but he knows Beaver. Is that your everyday boat?
  8. Watched them take off this morning. STIFF breeze from the east. On another note, talked to a striper guide waiting for his party. He said there are more stripers right now in the Rt. 12 basin than people think.
  9. I'd like to see Jimmy do it too. I don't know if he has the stamina for a full tournament. This is only my 3rd FLW on Beaver since I moved here. There has been almost no talk on our forum until this post. In years past there were estimates of daily weights, who was the fav and just general interest. It seems there is just less interest in posting on our forum than in the last couple of years. We fishing less or just not talking? I need all the "learnin" I can get. Trying to hold up my end when I get out. JMO

    fun afternoon

Had the lake pretty much to myself. Water back down to 55 everywhere I went. I'll take cool temps å rain over whitecaps. Fished 1-5 pm. Drifted flats in about 12 fow. 3/8 spinnerbait caught 8 bass with 5 over 15". All keepers were LM. Caught nothing in under 10fow. Fun!

    Reel Service

Sorry about the non-report post. I have several reels that need service and I just don't have the eyes anymore to do it. Who do you use locally. Rogers/Bentonville area. Thanks guys.

    4/9 afternoon

Got out around 4pm. Really getting tired of whitecaps. I knew a small cove that should be more calm. WT in cove 60. Fished ned & grub around docks until rain. Caught 4 spots 10-14" 3 scattered white bass, 2 short walleye and my 1st Beaver Drum about 3#'s. Lost a bigger bass on a jump. Nothing really shallow, all 10-15 fow. Enough action to keep me busy. WT most areas 55-57.
  13. Wow! And yet Beaver sometimes gets a bad rap about its bass size. Those are some dandys. FLW might set a new high bag for Beaver.
  14. aarch-dale, coming from the north, I'm very well acquainted with drum (which we call Sheephead) and Lake Erie is packed with them. They hit lures and bait, fight really well and if served right are pretty good eating. I don't know why they are so looked down upon everywhere other than they are not your target and kinda homley looking. The nice catch you have pictured is not a drum but a Buffalo. Nice shot!
  15. Don is a real hoot to fish with. There must be something to that thumper if it got his attention. Where do you get them?
  16. Good luck tomorrow Dan. I was out for about 2 hours today in PC. Windy & murky. Did catch a couple small spots and a nice 17" smallie. Then I broke the transducer bracket on the Minn Kota in a brush pile. So thats my project for tomorrow. Guys from back home Chicago coming this weekend. Last year we did great on stripers in the Rt. 12 basin. Don't see that this time. Hope to find some whites or crappies with them. Be safe.
  17. Thanks for the good tips Lance. Crappies up north mostly relate to weed lines but here......I'll get on them soon with your tips. Thanks again!
  18. Bear cove is just to the west of the Rt.12 ramp, really just a pocket. Where my slip is. Difference with Lance is he's killing the Crappie. LOL.
  19. Too nice to stay in. Water temp in Bear cove 49 at 10am. Tried to find crappies for 2 hours with no luck. Did catch a 15" striper on crappie rig which was fun. Switched to bass. Tourney guys on most points, pockets and coves. Could not get a pattern going. Caught 3 spots 10"-13" one on a wart, grub and ned. Most areas wt 51-53. It was warmer last week. I think our early Spring is back to normal. Beautiful day but stiff breeze. Great to be out.
  20. They do make a "glue-on" product for the same purpose if you're anti drill holes. Its called "Sternmate" Worked great!
  21. You should have a great time. If you go with Don, he has a dry sense of humor that will crack you up. Works hard and puts fish on the line. Enjoy.
  22. Maybe a few years of higher water is showing results in the bass population. I hope they are mostly done spawning before the FLW arrives. If I could only find the crappies.

    Walleyes

As long as the DNR keeps stocking walleyes in Beaver I don't see a problem with keeping a few to eat, respecting size limits set by the state on the small end or yourself on the large end. I've been both blessed and surprised on catching 3 eyes over 6# in my 2 seasons on Beaver. All went back but that's my thing. I sure do love to eat em' in the 18-20" zone. Be safe today, Beaver is rolling this morning.
  24. Mo, usually a walleye stinger is a #10 or a #8 treble with live bait. Are you using a plastic with the jig?
  25. Was out in PC this evening. 2 13" spots in 90 minutes. Looking for Crappies and found none. Water temp was 55 at 6pm and 53 at 7:30. Water was by no means clear but way better than War Eagle yesterday. Cloudy but not brown. About 6" of visability. Drop dead beautiful evening.
