  1. its hard to trust anyone anymore. It seems like 20 years ago or so when i was a kid this kind of thing was rare and when it did happen it was national headlines. fast forward to now and it seems like we have a growing trend of violence and heinous crime toward children. The way the current justice system is set up i don't think the family and loved ones of these victims truly get the justice they deserve and the perps seem to get to go the easy way completely asleep and painless.
  2. I just read this not 10 minuets ago. I just became a father exactly 4 months ago. I was blessed with a handsome baby boy. These stories always did bother me but now that I'm a parent they really shake me to the core. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones and I sincerely hope they get the justice they deserve. It doesn't change what happened but this man deserves far worse then what he will get. I share your feelings on dealing with him. He should be put down.
  3. Signed up and emails as well as letters sent! Let's put a stop to this.
  4. When i was younger and had just started bass fishing and more specifically finesse fishing plastics i always stuck with a pretty standard round ball jig usually around an 1/8oz. That wasnt all that long ago(15 years give or take) now it seems like there's tons of different jig heads all for slightly different presentations or fishing methods. My tackle box went from just a couple slightly different ball heads to all sorts of jigs! I always kept some around with a weed guard but rarely used them and when i did i always found i was trimming it slightly or just removing it completely. As far as tungsten goes i do have a few football jigs made by keitech that i enjoy but as stated the cost if pretty high so i find im always buying lead.
  5. I like the carbonlite rods for the money. I have the 6'8 M XF. I've never fished the NED rig but it i know its a big favorite around here so maybe ill have to give it a go. I have a 6'9 ML veritas i may have dust it off and try it this spring.
  6. That is a great day! I'm working a 12 today but will be following the coverage online as much as i can. Unfortunately i have to have my pants on while i work. What's the new rod and reel setup?
  7. very impressive flysmallie!
  8. Thanks for the link Justin!
  9. so I started as a trout fishermen and always used ultra light/light spinning gear. I have thought about trying a flyrod for many years and have finally decided to start the hunt for one. I know little about fly rods so i was wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions. It would be used mainly for trout but occasionally smallmouth. I was thinking a 6 or 7 weight should work well for both. If it helps i'd mostly be fishing current, meramec, white river and the current. Any advice on brands, weights, lines, etc would be great.
  10. I think the grass hopper and the black and green (i'm assuming flies?) look pretty neat. Not real sure on the baby crocs and what not lol
  11. I also forgot the late great "smoke em if you got em"
  12. What a hog! It is a shame to see a fish like that not being released but Brian is right when it comes to them being weighed for a record. I personally would have just measured and took a picture and let that do the talking especially if i didn't have a scale of my own. (not saying what this man did with his catch is wrong just not what i would have done)
  13. I Served US Army from 05-09 as a medic. The terms stand by, wait one, squared away, you're beat up from the feet up, tore up from the floor up, this is a goat screw,SNAFU, FUMTU...etc were in use during that period of time. I think a lot of them are to good to go away.
  14. Welcome to the forums PMB!
  15. Welcome to the forums! Looking forward to seeing some reports on the rock.
  16. I have no idea why anyone would do that. All I could do is look and shake my head. Big river is literally just a few miles away and its a good ramp right there by Washington state park. Maybe he did it just to see if he could?
  17. Oh I know the locals tend to hurt the stream more then he is. I haven't seen him fish. Mostly just run up and down the stream. I'm thinking he comes from out of town and just gets the boat out for cruising.
  18. It can be hard to see but you can find it on google earth. It goes across the stream and connects with a gravel road leading to some of the farms on the opposite bank.
  19. It's not far up from the access and the only way to it from dugout road is on private property. And yes a river pro jet in July on more then one occasion. I didn't think people got them on the fork either but apparently they do.
  20. I've wade fished mineral fork for close to 10 years now and the last two years(both times have been around July) i've seen the same individual on a river pro jet going down stream from the low water bridge to all the way down past the access. Both of those years I wrote letters to MDC to try and encourage them to put a stop to that.
  21. Welcome to the forums Brian!
  22. Nice catch! Welcome to the forums!
  23. Welcome to the forums Morgan! I've been wanting to make my own jigs for sometime now but never got around to it. You'll have to share some pictures of them sometime.
  24. I just recently stumbled upon this new rod series that's supposed to launch by the 20th of this month. The starting retail is around $179-189 so they undercut the current GL2 rods. I've found a few pictures of the handle and butt section of the blank displaying the logo on the loomis webpage. I'm curious as to what this will do to the GL2 line up as far as price and materials go. I liked the looks and reel seat of the GL2 but felt that it's over priced at $200 especially when you have Avids at $190 and Crucials around $150. Anyway i just wanted to know what's everyone's take on this series and the impact it might have on the rest of the lineup. I'm thinking on pre ordering it and giving it run.
  25. I have fished bootleg once but its been a few years ago. I've managed to get a a couple fish out of mineral fork around the 17inch range. I love to fish mineral fork but access isnt always good. I used to park by 47 bridge and wade that area but the last time i did(about 8 years ago) i was ran off...well i say ran off but i wasn't doing anything illegal i just would rather not deal with the hassle. I'm still trying to break the 18inch mark on a smallmouth myself.....i call it chasing the bronze lol as far as joachim goes, i've fished it around the park in desoto an managed a few smallies around 15-16 in length up stream from the park. I pulled a decent largemouth out joachim around the same size on a shakey head. Joachim seems to be filling up with spotted bass big time but i always manage a few smallmouth when i go.
