  1. Here's a guy actually catching a fish on a drone . . . https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=2hqppfBJmng
  2. 176champion . . . looks like you had the expertise to bring her back to life . . . nice job . . . after fishinwrench's comments, I went to BoatTrader and found a number of Champions that look like they would be worth looking into . . . I especially like the mention of their ability to handle rough water
  3. thanks fishinwrench . . . to me that is some very valuable input and much appreciated
  4. very nice . . . looks exceptionally clean . . . I assume it's a '96?
  5. nice smallie . . . "hats off" to you for your dedication and determination in braving the elements . . . how shallow was the bite?
  6. fishinwrench . . . I have never owned a modern-day fiberglass bb . . . hopefully, I will be purchasing my first one in Spring . . . I haven't yet determned whether it will be new or used . . . it will be between 18 and 20 ft (single axle trailer) . . . with your experience, I feel like this is an opportunity for me to ask you for some general advice . . . I would like to ask you for your "top 3" picks based upon your personal experience and hands-on contact and repair of various manufacturers' product lines . . . your advice would be very much appreciated:-)
  7. article on Ranger executives resigning . . . comments following the article are also included . . . http://fishingtackleretailer.com/ranger-loses-ttop-executives/
  8. I retired in Springfield but was born, raised, married and raised my kids in west St. Louis County (Ballwin area) . . . from the time REI opened their first store in St. Louis until my wife and I moved to Springfield in 2006, I never found REI to be competitive in their pricing . . . IMO, why be open on Thanksgiving or Black Friday if you refuse to be competitive in your pricing . . . customers will not show up and your employees will be giving up their holidays for nothing . . . while we lived in STL, REI was not where you would go for a good deal:-(
  9. nice photos! makes me want to reach for my rod . . . It's very reassuring for me to know that AT LEAST 2 LC "GUNFISH" have been purchased since they were introduced :-(
  10. very helpful report . . . sounds like a fun day . . . the colors of the fish against the background of blue skies, blue water and those classic Table Rock shorelines makes for a gorgeous pictorial . . . I love it when members accompany their reports and experiences with photos . . . makes a guy feel like he was along for the ride :-)
  11. I do not recall seeing these numbers of shad in past years . . . and they are everywhere!
  12. couldn't resist riding along with my wife on a short trip from our home in Springfield to Kimberling City yesterday . . . no boat, just threw a couof the vehicle and off we went . . . she dropped me off at a boat ramp in the Kimberling City area while she ran her errand . . . I only had about 45 minutes . . . I walked the windiest bank I could find casting up ahead and parallel to the bank using the WP perch-color 130 with a steady medium/fast retrieve . . . BINGO! I managed to bring this guy in with a number of his buddies following him all the way to the bank . . . the WP continues to amaze me:)
  13. nice bass! beautiful background in photo also . . . I constantly question myself on how many fish I have missed by not getting out early . . . as I get older I find it more and more difficult to actually be on the water before 10:00 am . . . 10:00am to 4:00pm has become the time to most likely find me on the water . . . wow, how things have changed . . . I think I must be entering my "WIMP" stage of life:-)
  14. thanks, the strange thing is I have only been able to find the WE Spot Remover with hammered blades:(
  15. interesting stuff Champ . . . To whom it may concern: Pleeeeeeeeease do not stock them in TR . . . I tend to avoid lakes with stripers and/or muskie . . . years ago my older brother caught a 43 lb striper fishing out of Starkey on Beaver and received a Master Angler award for doing so . . . when I saw that striper, I could only imagine what it takes to satisfy its appetite . . . believe it or not, he landed that striper after dark and fishing out of a 17 ft Grumman square stern canoe with a 5 hp Mercury on the back . . . no trolling motor, only a sculling paddle . . . it pulled that canoe around for a long time before giving in . . . and that was a couple of decades ago . . . which brings up the question of how big are some of these monsters now???
  16. sounds like a great day . . . thanks for the great report . . . hard to beat the WP and Ned as a must have combo in the Fall . . . talk about two baits that are at opposite ends of the spectrum . . . the last couple of weeks I've been trying to figure out a third "must have" bait to go along with the WP and Ned . . . haven't been able to put my finger on it . . . have not used any other bait this Fall season that produces as consistently as the WP and Ned . . . any thoughts from anyone on a Fall bait that could be added to turn the "duo" into a "trio"?
  17. thanks for the report champ . . . sounds like you had an action-packed 3 hours . . . I can't quite tell, are those "hammered" blades on the spinnerbait?
  18. nice report Cj . . . sounds like some great success and fun you're having out there . . . spoon fishing is something I have always wanted to learn
  19. interesting stuff . . . thanks for the report Bill . . . I keep wanting to get into trolling but seem to always revert back to my old ways . . . going to have to force myself to do it . . . too much positive results out there to ignore it
  20. anybody have experience using the Jika rig? . . . worthy or a "flash in the pan"? . . . any thoughts on what plastic bait is most effective when using the Jika?

Good video on the Jika rig...2:15 mark shows the difference in action between it ad a pegged T-rigged plastic

  21. non-slip loop knot works great on a spook . . . allows for great side-to-side action . . . however, make sure the loop, when fully elongated, measures no more than one-half inch . . . if greater than one-half inch, it will foul with the front hook of the spook
  22. really nice . . . I love the sound of that topwater bite . . . nothing more fun:-)
  23. don't give up on the WP . . . at this point in time, very few lures can compare . . . if you're fishing chunk rock banks and have 2 rigs in the boat, a WP and a NED, you have an awfully good chance of having a fun day of fishing . . . I will say this, topwater has always been my favorite way to fish, however, I have found with the WP that most of my success has come from boat angles, boat positions and casting angles I do not use with any other topwater I have ever fished
  24. haven't been back to Beaver in many, many years, but it holds a place in my heart from times spent there in the past . . . I will be fishing out of a small 16 ft aluminum boat . . . not looking for stripers in particular, I mainly fish for largemouth, spotted and smallmouth bass . . . with the small boat and small motor, I am not equipped to run long distances all over the lake . . . my wife and I are looking for economical accommodations with a boat slip . . . any suggestions would be very much appreciated :-)
